About RowedBiker

RowedBiker can make your indoor rowing workouts more interesting by connecting your Concept2 or WaterRower to workout games like Zwift and training applications like The Sufferfest. It works by emulating a smart cycling trainer, like a Wahoo Core, or a smart treadmill, converting your rowing power into cycling wattage or treadmill belt speed so you can enjoy the virtual workout worlds and training plans that are available to cyclists and runners.

RowedBiker has a couple of features that make it easier to row with cycling or running apps:

- Cruze and Power Reserve Modes

Cyclists and runners can easily grab a drink or chat with the workout group. For rowers, it can be a challenge to grab that drink or type a message without dropping the handle and losing the peloton or workout group.

To help, RowedBiker has a Cruze mode that temporarily locks your power to a certain level, similar to the cruise control in an auto. Use it whenever you need to stop rowing for a moment. You also have the option to "bank" power before you need it using the Cruze Reserve to maintain workout integrity.

- Erg Mode Support

Workout games offer structured workouts that move between different power levels. Erg mode automatically changes the Cruze set point whenever the workout game requests a new power level. If the game requests a higher level than your current rowing output, Cruze will withdraw from your Cruze Reserve while you ramp up the wattage. If the game drops the requested power level, you'll accumulate reserve power while you are coasting down. There is an option in Settings to disable or adjust how closely Cruze follows erg mode requests.

Thanks for checking out out RowedBiker. We hope it helps you reach your fitness goals, and have some fun in the process!

1.0.6
Apr 17, 2019
- Fixed an erg mode bug where Zwift would not re-engage if you dropped out of erg mode due to low power.

- Added a "settle zone" to erg mode so output power does not have to be locked to the wattage requested by the workout app if it is within an adjustable percentage of the requested power. This allows you to keep your eyes on the app display and know whether you are significantly over or undershooting the requested power level. It also lets you work on fine-tuning your stroke power output to a particular target level.

- Added simulated cycling cadence output. Can be used to train on delivering the same power at different stroke ratings.

- Added voice control for Cruze mode.

- Added monthly passes.

Connection Protection: will now hold your power at the last known value when the Bluetooth connection drops. The power value will turn red and you'll have 60 seconds before the power goes to zero. After you get the connection sorted, you'll have an additional 60 seconds to start rowing again in case you had to get off the erg to attend to the connection problem.

On-screen Debug: A new setting is available enable and disable on-screen app debug output which can be helpful when chasing connection or power drops.

Free Ride Erg Mode Release: Erg mode will now release control of your Cruze level 5 seconds after a Free Ride segments starts.

Bug fixes. UI updates for iOS 9.x devices. Better pairing and connection stability with Zwift and other cycling workout games.

1.0.2
Jan 5, 2019
- Support for iOS 9.3: Drag those iPhone 4S and iPad Minis out of the junk bin and recycle them as cheap RowedBiker adapters!

- Extra rowing metrics: If you use Erg Mode you may not need the Cruze presets. Swap them out in Settings for some extra rowing metrics. They still work as buttons too, but now let
you increment and decrement your current Cruze setpoint by +/- 25 and 5 watts.

- Power multiples for weaker rowers: You can now select 2-4x power multiples so weaker rowers can workout with stronger partners. Power is capped at 190 watts in these modes so don't even try to use it to catch that long-lost peloton ;)

- Connection Indicators: The power value will now be dashes when the PM5 is not connected. It will also be tinted yellow when the workout game is not connected so you can more easily debug flaky connections.

- Various bug fixes and visual tweaks. Thanks to those of you who have given feedback. RowedBiker users are the best on the planet!
