Love to crochet, but hate to interpret pattern language? Secrets of the Pyramids is your guide to a new world of freed creativity. The focus is on particular techniques, which unlock various geometric shapes. A truly unlimited variety of projects is created by combining the geometric shapes into…well, ANYTHING you can imagine!
This series is aimed at the discouraged crocheter, confused and irritated by all the “rules” – i.e., precision in stitch counts, symmetry, swatching, blocking, ripping out work that isn’t perfect, etc. In the subversive heart of Secrets is the notion that all of that can be tossed aside – and beautiful art is still attainable, perhaps even more so, by nurturing the creative spirit that we share as human beings.
Drawing from the visions of over three hundred and fifty 3-D and 2-D artists worldwide, as well as contributions from talented voice artists set to fourteen inspiring songs - “Secrets” depicts Ancient Egypt as it was (or might have been), in celebration of this fabulous culture.
The pattern (center button) is accessible without an internet connection, so your project can continue to grow when you are far from home. However, internet connection is needed for access to other buttons (video promos for current and new apps, links to online games, the Help wiki, About, and Kits).
AppleTV compatible: watch it on the big screen! This is especially useful when teaching or working in a group.
Film-strip and fast-scrub methods help you quickly locate where you left off in your project work - and to review, fast-forward and pause as you wish.
“It is said, that when one has mastered all of the secrets – the number of unique designs possible, is as the stars in the sky…”
Sobek - Ancient Egyptian handmaiden to the Queen
Queen Nefertari begins your search for the secrets of the Right triangle. With the help of the Scribe and the mysterious Ramses (“The Golden Man”), a great many secrets are revealed throughout Segment 2. As a member of the Royal Family, the Queen is entitled to know the secrets…but has she really studied them? Her younger sister Neferhotep has made it her life’s work and knows a great deal more – as Queen Nefertari will reluctantly admit.
Segment 2-1: The Right triangle and variations: Size variations, the back-loop technique, color-striping the Right triangle. Adding gold and silver stripes, both horizontally and vertically. Yarn-rimming the Right triangle (with rounded corners).
Segment 2-2: The Pyramid Line, a different form of Right triangle (with stitch-construction details). Size variations and gold-rimming for the Pyramid Line. Two-pass Pyramid Lines, in one or two colors, encircled or open. Jewels! (small pyramids encased in a setting). Adding gold and silver rims to the jewels.
Segment 2-3: Pyramid-Line Pyramid, along with its gold and silver rimming. “The Backbone” method and its variations – straight, curved, and as The Sun Crown. Also, consider – are mistakes valuable and worth keeping, rather than eradicated and ripped out?
NEXT: Segment 3 - The Equilateral Triangle
