Shiva is one of the most important gods in Hinduism. He is considered as the 'destroyer' avataar of the supreme god. In fact, the name 'Shiva' is almost synonymously used with 'Brahma', the ultimate truth or the creator of life. Shiva is usually seen with a third eye on his forehead, a serpent around his neck, the adorning crescent moon, the holy Ganga river flowing from his hair and with the Trishula weapon and a Damru.

Bhajan is a form of music that was particularly developed along with the Bhakti movement in India. Teaching and tales of gods and their saints are usually the central topics of most of the Bhajans.
