About Sprite Cutter

"Faster Than Photoshop!" Lift friends and family, pets and products right out of any photo and use them in social media avatars, web pages, games, collages, or animations. The unique combination of color and depth cutting with holdout, subtract and boundary curves lets you precisely define what to keep and what to erase.

Sprite Cutter lets you cut parts out of a photo with any shape, and save them as 'sprites' with a transparent background. Just make a curve around the portion of the image you want to cut out, tweak the shape, and export.

SpriteCutter uses fast, easy Beziér curves to give you powerful control of your shapes. First tap around your target to quickly lay down a rough curve. Now fine tune the points and adjust the curve shape by pulling the control handles. You can add and combine multiple shapes. When you are happy with the shapes, export your sprite(s) with a standard Share menu to your Photo Album, or any app that accepts, from Files or Dropbox to Mail or Twitter. And of course you can easily use them in image composition apps like SpriteDance or Motion Graphix.

Using the Depth Cutter on an image with embedded depth data, you can cleanly isolate an object from its background based on distance, and/or remove foreground elements. Or if there is a solid color background, like a green screen, you can cut that out. Custom curve types let you hold out areas from the key, cut holes in them, or define the boundaries, minimizing wasteful margins.

Features:

Cut multiple sprites from a single image, save separated or as a single picture
Cut out green-screen backgrounds, or any other color with range, edge softness and color fringe removal
Use embedded depth data taken with newer iPhone cameras to quickly cut objects based on distance
Use the high-quality Portrait Effects Matte embedded with iOS12 depth images for amazingly clean edges.
Use curves with green screen or depth keying to hold out or cut out elements
View and edit sprites with background visible, removed, or as a black & white mask
Magnified view inset makes precision cutting easy
Save sprites as 32-bit PNG images with smooth transparency and lossless compression
Soften sprite edges for glow or halo effects
Save sprites to .gif files with transparency
Inline help: documentation with no internet connection needed
Undo-redo: hey, nobody's perfect...
Optionally rescale sprites on export to fit standard 64x64, 128x128, or 256x256 resolutions
Nudge position and scale of curve shapes for quick adjustments to the whole shape
Double-tap on any curve point to quickly smooth the curve
Insert and remove points with a touch
Save and reload curves

Note: A sprite is a small image, stored with transparency information (called an ‘alpha channel’) which hides the portions of the image you don’t want to see. Sprite Cutter uses standard 32-bit PNG format to save your image with lossless compression, and an 8-bit antialiased alpha channel. This makes the sprites compatible with web browsers and virtually all apps which work with pictures.
