We are aware that syncing has been causing issues for some users. This is why we have been working hard to implement a new system that leaves all those problems behind. Now you can enjoy writing in Story Planner across all your devices without worrying about syncing.

* Please keep in mind that you need to update all your devices to the latest version of Story Planner to get the new sync across them.

· Now, when you create a new scene, the date and time for the new scene will be the same as the ending time in the last scene in your story. If you have a scene selected when you create the new one, the date and time will be the ending time of the selected scene

Minor bug fixes

We have fixed an issue that caused a black screen to appear when launching the app for the first time after a first installation. We apologize for the inconveniences.

· We have revised and reassigned some of the keyboard shortcuts to make them more efficient.
· We have added the option to export to PDF on Big Sur.
· We have changed the Mac icon to suit the new Big Sur design.

· Fixed a bug whereby the app crashed when the list of projects got empty.

· We have improved the duplicate function. Now, when you duplicate an item, it will appear immediately below to the original item.

Bug Fixes:
· We have fixed a bug whereby the app sometimes crashed when you open the Character Arc info in the Character Cards.
· Now, when the keyboard on the iPhone is on the screen, the buttons for more options and images will work properly.
· Fixed a bug on the iPad that made that several backups were created if you have several windows of the app opened.
· Fixed a bug on iPad whereby when you were working in a split view and drag a scene to drop it in a different act, the scene appeared in an incorrect place.
· Now, when you drag a scene and drop it into a Non-Act section, it will remain in this section.

· We have improved the way Story Planner handles large images. The app will no longer go slow when you work with many HD images.
· We have added the loading animation to show when you recover a backup. This way you will know what is happening all the time.

Bug Fixes:
· We have fixed the bug whereby the app crashed when you were using many HD images for characters and locations.
· We have fixed the bug for date editing on scene cards in macOS 10.15.4.
· We have fixed a problem with the locations on scene cards. Now, when you choose a mixed location on a scene card, you will see the indication of "INT/EXT" in the scene list.

· We added more help texts to the information buttons, so you can learn all the ins and outs of the different parts of a story outlining.
· Of course, if you don't want to see all those info buttons in your projects, you can hide them by selecting that option in the app settings.

Bug fixed
We have fixed a bug that caused the app crashed under certain circumstances. Sorry for the inconvenience and happy outlining!

Refinements and Changes:
· We have expanded the list in the statistics so that you can now see the whole ranking for all your scenes, characters, etc., not just the top 5.
· Besides, now you will see the statistics in a fuller window on your Mac and iPad.

Bug Fixes:
· Fixed a bug whereby the app crashed when you have multiple windows, and you delete or move all the scenes of an act in the list of scenes.
· Fixed a bug whereby the actions list doesn't show properly when the item in a list was too close to the bottom of the screen, on iPad.
· Fixed a bug whereby the main screen doesn't refresh properly after recovering a backup.
· Fixed a bug whereby old projects that had been deleted, showed up again.
· Fixed a bug whereby some images made the app animations slow.
· Fixed a bug on iPad for landscape and 3 column view, whereby the column at the right was not displaying correctly.

Refinements and Changes:
· We have added a feature highly demanded by many of you: Now you can duplicate characters, locations, plots and scenes.
· Besides, you can now send a copy of any element in your project (character, locations, plots and scenes) to another of your projects.
· Now Story Planner remember your last session and it will remain in the same projects tab you were in the last time you used the app —meaning, 'all projects', 'in progress' or 'completed' tab. This way you won't have to navigate to "in progress" each time you open the app.
· We have made more accessible the actions for all the items in the app. Now you can delete, duplicate, export, copy, etc. by swiping your finger over the item —also right-click on mouse on your Mac— or through the ellipsis ... symbol you will find at the up right inside the item.
· We have also included some minor performance improvements to make Story Planner more efficient.

Bug Fixes:
· Fixed a bug whereby there was a problem when trying to create a synogram with the first letter in a text field.
· Fixed a bug whereby an empty screen was displayed when you deleted a project and the list of projects was hidden. (iPad and Mac)
· Fixed a bug whereby an empty screen was displayed when you deleted an item from inside a card, with the card shown in full screen. (iPad and Mac)
· Fixed a bug whereby a third column was displayed when you open a project after deleted another project with three columns on screen. (iPad)
· Fixed a bug whereby an item was deselected when you scrolled and the item came out of the screen. (iPad and Mac)
· We have also included some minor bug fixes.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug whereby the text in a field were no copied to the clipboard when cutting all the text in the field.
- Fixed a bug whereby when editing a text field in a plot card, the bottom line did not fit well with the height of some text fields.
- Fixed a bug whereby when typing in a text field for the first time and with autocorrect deactivated on the device, the keyboard didn't work properly for some languages.
- Fixed some UI behaviors when you re-enter the app on iPad or when putting the app in Split View.
- Fixed the strange behavior on iPad when opening the tab of Project or Statistics from inside a card.

Refinements and Changes:
· With this update you won't notice the changes at a glance, but we continue to improve sync performance and we had made some minor performance adjustments to make the app faster and more efficient.

Bug Fixes:
· Fixed a bug whereby the app crashed while trying to delete a scene from the scenes list.
· Fixed a bug whereby the app crashed when trying to sync with older versions.
· Fixed a bug whereby scenes without an assigned act weren't printed when exporting a project.

Refinements and Changes:
- Now the compression of the backups is done when the device is idle to optimize resources.
- A check is also performed when the device is idle to delete old backups.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug whereby when pressing edit in the swipe menu (in the list of tags, character functions, etc.) the cell disappeared.
- Fixed a bug whereby when exporting a project, the titles of the acts appeared under an incorrect name.
- Fixed a bug which showed a shorter nav bar when entering the app on a character or location card and the device in the face up position.
- Fixed a bug that caused the title of the nav bar where shown when returning to the character card or location card from an items selection screen (for example, the 'Function in the story' screen).
- Fixed a bug whereby the keyboard was hidden when trying to edit the last fields of a screen in certain circumstances.
- Fixed display issues on some screens when the system changed to dark mode.
- Fixed a bug whereby two rows disappeared or the app crashed when deleting an item with the swipe menu if there was more than one window at the same time. (iPad)
- Fixed a bug whereby the option to navigate backward disappeared when deleting a tab in split view. (iPad)
- Fixed a bug whereby the app showed an empty screen when deleting a project in split view. (iPad)

Refinements and Changes:
- We have improved the automatic backups system. Now Story Planner only creates an automatic backup when the app goes to backgroud if you have made any change.
- Now if you force the app to close after have made any change, the app will create an automatic backup.
- The app won't create automatic backups if you don't have projects.
- The maximum number of backups will be for your iCloud account, not for your devices.
- Backups will create faster from now on.
- You will now see a message in the main screen of the app when synchronization data is downloading and syncing
- We have improved the files download for syncing.
- When the app starts will check if you have iCloud Drive on. If you don't have it, the app will notify you, in case you want to activate it.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug whereby the app sometimes froze when trying to sync with a slow Internet connection.
- Fixed a bug whereby nothing happened when you changed from "System" to "No" in dark mode options.
- Fixed a bug whereby if you changed the color of a plot when you were editing the title, the previous title was shown in the list of plots.

Changes and Refinements:
· We have customized the iPad keyboard so now you can more easily move right and left along the lines of your texts.

Bug Fixes:
· Fixed a bug whereby the app crashed when you tried to rearrange scenes with no act assigned.
· Fixed a bug whereby text in a field was removed if you pressed the backspace key with the cursor placed at the beginning of the text.
· Fixed the bug whereby you couldn’t crop images if you didn’t zoom in and out first. Now crop feature is working properly again.

· As you probably know, we went to a subscription model with version 5.0. We thought it would be a good way to help us keep improving the app. However, you let us know that you didn’t like this model, so we decided to go back to the previous model. New Features:
· We have completely redesigned the app to make it more comfortable, beautiful and current. We have also taken the latest Apple technology into account to offer you the best user experience possible. And this is just the beginning, because we’re going to keep working to bring you fantastic new features soon.
· We have added an organization system for projects that allows you to mark them as “in progress” or archive them as completed projects. In addition, you can now add tags to projects in order to organize them by categories.
· Text fields are now much more comfortable to use since they adapt to the text you write instead of vice versa.
· Photos are now displayed in a larger size and are better integrated into the character and location cards.
· You can customize predefined elements (character type, scene tension, etc.) and adapt them to your way of writing. You don’t have to stick to our model anymore, but can instead create your owns.
· Each character can have several functions, which will also be displayed in the character list.
· We have modified the plot colors and how they are selected so you can see all of the colors at a glance and change them more easily.
· We have improved the scene cards so that you can create characters, plots or locations from them more quickly, in order to later modify them from the corresponding tab.
· In scene cards, you can personalize act names and call them whatever you want. You can also add multiple plot lines to each scene, which will be reflected in the statistics.
· We have added new statistics that are also displayed via graphs so you can more efficiently analyze your story data at a glance.
· iPad has its own design so you can move through your projects more easily; we have improved the Slide Over and Split View and have incorporated the new iOS 13 (iPadOS) technology that allows you to open multiple windows of the app at the same time so that nothing interrupts your inspiration!

Compatibility:
· iOS 13-compatible.
· Updated to support iOS 13’s dark mode (system mode available).

We have fixed a bug that, in certain circumstances, caused the projects don't sync correctly on devices where the app had just been installed.

What is new in this update? At first glance it may seem that nothing has changed, but we have been working hard the last months to improve the sync of the app. Now your projects will be synchronized more quickly on all your devices and they will take up less space in iCloud Drive. Let nothing stops your creativity!

Note: Keep in mind that you must update all your devices to the latest version of Story Planner so they can sync between them.
