The wait is over: Version 6.0 is finally here!!!
Today we’re making your (and Apple’s) favourite Sudoku puzzler even better with a complete design overhaul! Say hello to...(*drumroll*)...THEMES!!!
Starting now, you’ll earn stars simply by puzzling away, or completing tasks, which you can then exchange for exciting Themes from our (constantly expanding) library. To get you started, we’ve deposited 50 stars into your account to start you on your way. We hope you enjoy our additional upgraded features, such as:
- Empty Cell Dots (can be disabled under Settings).
- Auto Fill Notes from Game Board: we added a simple button that lets you enter all Notes from any point in the game.
- Highlight Givens (Modern Theme only for now): you can now opt to highlight the game’s givens to differentiate from your inputs.
- You can now start new games with Lightning Mode enabled from the start (toggle in Settings).
- IOS 13 optimisation.
As always, we’re working incredibly hard to make the best Sudoku puzzler out there, and we couldn’t have gotten to where we are if it weren’t for each and every single player out there.

It has been a while, since I last saw my loved ones. This bug hunt has been treacherous, and I am certain now that the code is slowly turning against me.

For some reason, our latest update crashed your favourite Sudoku puzzle more than a demolition derby. We did a full code review, grabbed a virtual can of bug-spray, and went to work.
If you’re still experiencing issues where your gameplay doesn’t save, please delete & re-install the app - this seems to be the best fix at the moment.
If you have paid to have ads removed but they are still there, please go into the game’s Settings, and click on “Restore Purchases”, to enjoy an ad-free puzzling experience again. If that does not work, go through the purchase process again using the original iTunes account associated with the purchase. It will not charge you twice!
In the meantime, we’re going back in for another bug hunt deep-dive. Godspeed!

- You can now toggle off / on the double-tab feature for your Apple Pencil 2 in the game’s Settings.

As it turns out, we took our new algorithm from “too easy” to “welcome to MENSA” difficulties - sorry about that.
We’re reverting the EASY and MODERATE difficulty levels back to their old algorithms, to give both newcomers & speed players a chance to enjoy their favourite Sudoku game in the iOS Store. All other difficulty levels contain hand-picked puzzles, featuring our new algorithm - so if you ever find yourself wanting to up the ante 9x9 style, well, we have 3 difficulty levels for you :)

VERSION 5.0 IS FINALLY HERE - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wow, what a year! We’d first like to thank each and every single one of you awesome puzzlers for sending us emails, leaving reviews, shooting ideas our way, and most importantly: let us know about those pesky bugs.
Today, we’d like to introduce Version 5.0 to you. We took your favourite Sudoku Puzzler, and with your help & input, we made it even better.
New Goodies:
- A BRAND NEW ALGORITHM: That’s right - we built our puzzle generator from the ground up. No more guess-work, no more simple x-wing techniques - we went back to the drawing board and started from scratch. What does that mean for you? The hard levels just got harder, and you’ll have to rely on various solving techniques now to get the job done.
- SCREEN ALWAYS ON: We get it, sometimes it takes a while to jot down a note or number - so we included an option to leave your screen on while playing. You’ll find it in the game’s Settings.
- APPLE PENCIL 2: iPad Pro puzzlers rejoice, we just made the Pencil 2 even cooler: you can switch from note to input mode by simply double-tapping the side of your brand new Apple Pencil 2!
- IOS 12 READY: You get the idea :)
Bug Fixes:
- Games now save properly.
- Audio settings now save properly.
- Numbers written with Apple Pencil now highlight among with other numbers.
- Hints are now limited to 3 per game again.
- Force Touch now works as it should.
- Rating prompt now works.

Hello!
The heatwave did not stop us from squashing some more bugs (like the game crashing for some users). Hermit-crab-style coding & testing have shown very promising results, and we’re very excited for the upcoming iOS update, since it’ll enable us to improve the stability of our little puzzler even more.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who pointed out that Auto Complete stopped working when the animations were turned off. We worked hard all weekend, and we’re happy to announce that you can disable animations again - Auto Complete now works like a charm.

We’d like to apologise for taking so long to release an update - the bugs have become better at camouflaging themselves, but thanks to your emails we were able to locate the culprits yet again & go on a squashing spree:
- Fixed Scoring in Classic Mode: Some of pointed out that our scoring system was flawed - and you were right, so we fixed it.
- Animations: Disabling animations now turns off ANY and ALL kind of twirls, spins, etc.
- Highlights: Some users reported an issue where highlights jumped all over the place. It took us a while to figure out what went wrong, but we fixed it. We can no longer see the issue, but if you do please contact us.
- Force Touch Duplicates: This seems to be an iOS11 issue, and while it does show up on some of our devices, it doesn’t on others. We did what we could, and we’ve submitted a bug report to Apple.

It’s finally here: VERSION 4.0!
When we launched Sudoku ME less than 8 months ago, we never thought we’d make it this far - and we’re just getting started!
To celebrate, we’re bringing you some more much requested features, as well as some goodies that we thought you might like to make Sudoku Master Edition even better!
* LARGER GAME BOARD: Our design genie worked her magic and somehow managed to come up with a larger game board, while still maintaining the minimalist aesthetic that made people fall in love with Sudoku ME to begin with. You can enable the larger game board under the game’s Settings.
* HOLD-TO-ZOOM: Now you can simply hold a square or number to temporarily zoom in. Your finger now doubles as a magnifying glass!
* PAUSE BUTTON: Yeah, we have no idea how/why we missed that one either. But here it is, in all of its shiny glory!
* RESTART BUTTON: See above…we really don’t know how we missed that one either.
* UNDO BUTTON FOR CLASSIC MODE: No more “select the square, select the number to remove, enter new number” - just tap the Undo circle to your heart’s content, and watch those unwanted inputs disappear.
* DAILY REMINDERS: We’re all busy, but we also like to keep our brain fit & trained, so we implemented a simple feature to help you achieve just that: thanks to iOS’s build-in Notification feature, you can now set a daily reminder from within the app!
* NEW APP ICONS: We added even more app icons for your home screen!
* SNAP!!! We made the whole game snappier. Time = points!
* GENERAL BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS: We had a lot of issues with certain ads, so we changed our ad network partner.

Some users reported that our game decided to crash instead of playing along nicely, so we went to work and straightened out some code. We’re sorry that our game was (temporarily) as useful as pocket lint.
The issue has been resolved; however, code is about as predictable as the weather in London (if you haven’t been: bring an umbrella on sunny days) - having said that, if you still experience issues, please drop us a line to hello@hoolatronstudios.com
