Carroll Quigley taught the History of Civilization at Georgetown School of Foreign Service for more than thirty years. A graduate of Harvard University he first taught history there and at Princeton. Professor Quigley was regarded as an expert on the comparative history of civilizations, twentieth century Europe and African Affairs. He served as a consultant to the Smithonian Institution and as a member of the editorial board of Current History. He was a fellow of the American Anthropological Association, a member of the International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilizations, and a life member (London) of the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth. He contributed numerous articles to scholarly publications and was also the Author of Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time.
