About The Evolution of Civilizations

This Essays is not of history! It's an introduction to Historical Analysis!

The Evolution of Civilizations: An Introduction to Historical Analysis, written by Carroll Quigley (1910-1977), is an attempt to establish analytical tools that will assist the understanding of history. Most historians will regard such an effort as unnecessary or even impossible. Some answer must be made to these two objections...

Carroll Quigley taught the History of Civilization at Georgetown School of Foreign Service for more than thirty years. A graduate of Harvard University he first taught history there and at Princeton. Professor Quigley was regarded as an expert on the comparative history of civilizations, twentieth century Europe and African Affairs. He served as a consultant to the Smithonian Institution and as a member of the editorial board of Current History. He was a fellow of the American Anthropological Association, a member of the International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilizations, and a life member (London) of the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth. He contributed numerous articles to scholarly publications and was also the Author of Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time.
