About Thermo Physical Prop

This app provides important thermo-physical property data on seventeen fluids that are very common in industrial applications. Data helps in computation of various parameters pertaining to flow system design involving heat and energy transfers. This App can become very handy for engineers and students dealing with thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfers as a quick reference guide.

Fluids:
Air, Steam, Water, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Helium, CO2, Methane, Ethane, Chlorine, Ammonia, Argon, Hydraulic oil, HFC (R410A), Mercury, Sulfuric Acid.

Properties:
The property data is presented in SI and USCS units for the given pressure and temperature conditions. Property data is displayed in two parts. The first part is on transport properties that are common to all fluids and presented in home screen as shown in the screen shot. The second part is displayed as plus properties that are exclusively for gases and steam as given below.

•Thermo-physical Transport properties.
o Density (ρ) – function of temperature and pressure
o Viscosity (μ) – function of temperature
o Specific Heat (cp) – function of temperature
o Thermal conductivity (K) – function of temperature

•Gas properties
o Molecular wt. (MW)
o Specific heat ratios (cp/cv)
o Thermal diffusivity (α)
o Prandtl number (Pr)

For steam, additional thermodynamic property data are provided in the form of a Steam Table covering all 3 states such as saturated water, saturated vapor and superheat conditions at a given pressure and temperature. Besides, a separate section is provided for saturation properties where users can choose either temperature or pressure as primary argument as shown in the screen shot.

Similarly for Air, there is a section on humid air properties that are consistent with psychrometric chart. Users can choose either wet-bulb temperature or relative humidity as primary argument in addition to dry bulb temperature. The result includes humidity ratio, dew point temperature, specific volume, specific enthalpy and entropy for both dry and humid air as shown in the screen shot. In addition app notes has a link to a complete documentation on implementation and validation of math-models with industry examples.

Refrigerant Freon-R12 is no longer used in any HVAC or industrial applications. Therefore it has been replaced with HFC R410A and app provides transport properties and vapor pressure data for a given saturated liquid temperature.

It is often very cumbersome to read and interpolate these data from a chart or a reference table. Therefore, this app can be very useful for all HVAC personnel including students for obtaining these data with speed and accuracy at given operating temperature and pressure.

Sulfuric acid is one of the most extensively used industrial chemicals and has been included in this version to facilitate design of acid transportation system. App provides transport properties of sulfuric acid at given concentration as well as temperature.

Updated temperature and pressure ranges of super heated steam and now can provide steam table for ultra high superheated steam as shown in the screen shot.

Saturation properties of steam are added as a supplement where users can choose either temperature or pressure as primary argument as shown in the screen shot.

For humid air, a separate section has been added in this version to facilitate quick reference to different humid air properties that are consistent with psychrometric charts. In addition, as the atmospheric pressure changes with altitude, it computes properties accordingly.
