About TrailSmart: Great Trails
TrailSmart: Great Trails of the World is a comprehensive, incredibly handy mobile app providing in-depth coverage of some of our favourite long-distance trails. Use it on its own or as a complement to a printed guidebook. Once downloaded, no Internet connection is required.

TrailSmart's ‘Trekopedia’ is packed with extensive reference information on each trail. Everything can be searched and filtered, viewed on a map, notes can be added (anything from a simple reservation number to a copy-and-pasted blurb from a website), and more.

Powerful, flexible maps that display your current location on your route along with pins showing all the locations included in the Trekopedia (just touch a pin to open its related Trekopedia entry). Filter and do searches. Detailed, high-quality offline maps are also available via in-app purchase, so you have full access to maps even without an Internet connection. When you do have an Internet connection, great online maps are also available.

Just follow the yellow arrow! TrailSmart's intelligent compass points you in the right direction based on your current location and your selected route, and updates dynamically as you move. Hey everyone! Managing your route in TrailSmart just got much easier, with lots of great enhancements to make it easier to make changes, to see what your options are, and more, including:
- You can edit your route on the map now.
- You can tap on any 'branch point' icon to see what route variants are available from that junction.
- You can tap on any white arrowhead along your route to see how far it is to that location in your current stage. The arrowheads also indicate which direction you are walking at that location.
- It's now much easier to modify your stage breaks. Just drag them on the route details screen.
- The appearance of the route details screen is more appealing and more informative.
- Tap on any branch in the route details screen or on any branch point on the map screen to see a pop-up showing lots of details about that branch, along with tools for viewing its elevation chart, viewing it on the map, opening its details screen in the Trekopedia, inserting new branches, or deleting the branch from your route.
- When editing your route, you can now shake your phone to undo changes you've made.
- And more! There's lots of little details for you to discover.
Plus, of course, there are lots of updates to our trail content.

Hey everyone!
This update fixes an annoying bug that was cutting off text when viewing 'details' screens. We've also updated all of our datasets, some extensively.
IMPORTANT:
This update includes a critical change in our database format which requires all 'user data' (routes, added notes, flagged items, etc.) to be cleared. Also, any backups from prior to this version can't be restored. Sorry for the inconvenience on this! We rarely have breaking changes like this but this one couldn't be avoided.
If you are updating the app then all existing routes in the dataset will appear as 'broken' (you'll see lots of 'gap in route' rows in the route's details). Please re-create your desired route or do a clean re-install of the app (a clean re-install will also restore all of the pre-defined routes for you). If you have any problems setting up your route, let us know and we can assist.

In this update we've added lots of handy icons indicating the amenities available at accommodations and in communities – they make it much easier to tell at-a-glance what's available.

Hey everyone! In this release, we've added a French localization for the app (this only affects the UI, not the trail content itself – the trail content is still only available in English), there are some tweaks to the map (including fixing an annoying issue happening for some users involving empty info balloons that appear after tapping on an item), and some small improvements elsewhere. And, of course, there have been many updates to our trail content. Our thanks to everyone who sent in feedback, made app suggestions, and helped with testing.

Hey everyone! This update includes support for dark mode on iOS 13 plus improvements to our new import / export functionality as well as lots of other small tweaks throughout the app. One major new feature: we've added a large, easy-to-read progress screen with completion stats on your current trail section, stage, and overall route. And, of course, there are updates to all of our trail datasets. As always, thanks to everyone who sent in feedback or helped with testing. Hope everyone had a great summer!

Hi everyone! In this update we've added the ability to import / export custom routes, notes, fav items, ratings, and other user-changeable content. This enables you to backup your data, transfer it between your devices, and share it with others. You can also import content from others, such as a suggested route, notes they've added (perhaps some handy background info on attractions), items they have rated (maybe someone's ratings of the best restaurants along the trail), and so on. Try it out and let us know your thoughts. You can find the import / export command on the Dashboard in the Current Dataset area.
This update also includes lots of content changes plus various small tweaks / improvements to the app itself.
Don't forget to check for content updates in TrailSmart (via the Dashboard) – we update the content much more often than we update TrailSmart.

- Now includes in-depth coverage of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast trail in the UK.
- Now includes preliminary coverage of the Camino Sanabrés (a part of the Camino de Santiago). There’s lots more we’ll be adding to this dataset but it already has all the core content (route, communities, and albergues).
- Updates to all of our datasets
- Added support for ‘clustering’ on the map screen: when lots of points-of-interest are in the same area the map will show a circle with a number in it representing the items in that area. Zoom in closer to see the pins or just tap on the circle.
- Tweaked many internal elements of the map module to make it faster and more responsive.

Hi everyone. This is just a maintenance release with minor tweaks after our huge update in the prior release. Changes include:
- Improved the layout of the 'progress bar' at the bottom of the Trail module. More readable and avoids any numbers being cut off.
- Tweaked some of the labels on the Trail module to make them more consistent.
- Fixed a small issue on the elevation profile charts.
- Pre-installed the updated trail datasets.
- Improved the way the Map module works when no offline maps are installed (much nicer now!).

Hey everyone! This release includes a major overhaul of the Dashboard, making it much more attractive and useful. We hope you like this new layout – let us know what you think. Suggestions on how we can improve TrailSmart are always appreciated. We've also updated the Trail screen to use the same theme as the Dashboard. There are lots of little updates elsewhere too.
All of our trail content has also been updated (for all datasets). One big change for Camino users: we've broken out all the individual Camino trails that we cover into their own datasets (plus we still have the all-in-one Camino dataset). If you are only walking a specific Camino route, one of the new datasets is recommended.
