- Interface
The first view allows you to view ALL repeaters at a glance, or using the filter tabs change the view by band.
A Search bar has been added which allows you to search for specific frequencies, callsign, keeper or location!
Tapping on a repeater will take you to the Full information page for that repeater, also showing you your current distance from that repeater.
- Map view
The new map view will zoom down onto your current location showing you, at a glance, all the repeaters near you. You can also filter out the repeaters you do not want to show. I.E you can select 2M to only show the 2M repeaters on the map.
Imagine you are listening to a distant repeater on a specific frequency but didn't know it's tone. Well, you can enter the output frequency in the search bar and only those repeaters matching the text you entered in the search bar will be shown on the map.
You can also search by callsign, output, ctcss or keeper in the map view too.
As always you can change the map type between Map, Satellite or Hybrid.
If you zoom out too far and want to quickly go back to your location a handy Zoom button has been added that will automatically zoom and position the map back to your location.
Each pin has a callout feature that when tapped will show you some basic information for that repeater, but a new Info button has been added which will take to straight the repeaters FULL details PLUS your distance from the repeater.
- GPS
This new feature uses the GPS data from your built in GPS receiver (iPhone only).
Displaying your Latitude, Longitude, Altitude and Speed in real time. Thanks to the reverse geoding feature your estimated address with also been shown in the GPS screen.
As a bonus, there is now the option to share your location details with the world via SMS, EMAIL, Facebook and Twitter. The contents of the message will display a clickable maps link that the recipient can click on to see your current location.
- Database
The database format is now using SQLite. This open up the app in so many ways.
Currently there is no way to edit the data within the app but there are two options to get the data updated.
On the Info page you are now able to download the database from our server. If you use the inbuilt email client (Email Request) to give feedback about repeater data which is incorrect, or not even there, we will update the database on our server. You can then use the Update Database button within the app to download the changes.
The second option is for the more advanced users. I have enabled the document folder of the application to shared. Using iTunes you can extract the .sql file and edit using a sql database editor. I recommend the plugin on the Firefox browser for editing the database.
A guide on how to do this will be available on our support website very soon.
