About Via - Road charges
Via: Clear the way to digital Switzerland!
Via is the official application of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) for the payment of the lump-sum heavy vehicle charge (PSVA). Via allows the PSVA to be paid quickly and easily, from anywhere and at any time.
Via can be used for certain vehicles that are not registered in Switzerland and have a total weight of more than 3.5 tonnes (e.g. motorhomes and coaches).
With a valid PSVA receipt, you can select any border crossing for entry into Switzerland, even outside opening hours. Thus eliminating the previous need to stop at the border crossing.
Registration is not required to use Via. The receipt is visible in the app and will also be sent to you by email. It is free to download and use.

- We have fixed an error that occurred when validating a single day of a ticket for 10 journeys.
- When the app is first installed on a device with a language setting other than French, German or Italian, the app language is set to English by default in the settings. The missing setting previously caused the app to crash.

This new version allows you to:
- share a receipt (via email, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.) so that another person can download the same receipt to their mobile device. You also have the option of restoring a receipt (e.g. if you buy a new device).
- change the registration number (number plate) once during the validity period of the purchase receipt, provided that the vehicle type and weight class of the vehicle category are identical. As long as the day is not yet valid or active, you also have the option of correcting the date of the validated day once.
