Since opening in 1912 the recently restored Hotel Maria Cristina has been closely linked to the history and cultural life of San Sebastian. Four luxurious function rooms with state of the art technology can be used separately or configured into larger spaces to provide myriad options for meetings, conferences, launches, dinners or a special celebration. Conveniently located on the ground floor off the grand gallery are the hotel’s three palatial reception rooms: the 282-square-meter Ibaia; Elcano, which offers 206 square meters; and Zubia, covering 109 square meters. There is also a 60-square-meter space called the Aia. All rooms are filled with natural daylight and offer high-speed Wi-Fi plus the latest facilities for computer-generated audio-visual presentations. Ibaia provides the perfect setting for a wedding banquet or special celebration. In sumptuous Belle Époque style the double height ceiling is supported by a series of majestic columns topped with gilded Corinthian capitals. Female effigies and flower garlands in delicate plaster adorn the walls. Providing spectacular illumination are a series of century-old bronze and glass chandeliers, while five sets of damask-swathed French doors provide access to the river-view terrace. El cano and Zubia are both ideal for gatherings or meetings which require a sophisticated setting. Their combination of pastel and white décor, spectacular columns and antique crystal chandeliers creates a seductively timeless glamor.
