WWI Memorial Virtual Explorer Description
This is the companion app to the WWI Memorial "Visitor Guide" and is a virtual tour of the National WWI Memorial now open to the public in Washington, D.C.

NOTE: Note this app includes a full size 3D model of the memorial and therefore may take a few minutes to download.

The WWI Memorial "Virtual Explorer" allows you to drop a scalable 3D model of the Memorial into your living room, back yard, driveways or classrooms creating a virtual field trip you can walk around in.

But it is more than that. We have filled the Virtual WWI Memorial with information, experiences and discoveries about WWI.

There are 3D model stories, objects like WWI tanks, planes and over 50 short video documentaries about how WWI Changed America.

You can listen to and even create and submit stories of service about your WWI ancestors that you can share with the world...

and a whole lot more.

Version 1.7 enhancements include:

NEW: The "Photosphere Memorial Portal", in the Viewing Platform & Reflecting Pool Area (3), is an evolving feature that will transport users to other key WWI Memorial locations. The first example is the American Cemetery at Flanders in Belgium. We will be expanding these WWI related locations as travel restrictions ease and opportunities arise. The next portal location is planned for Spring 2022 presenting the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City.

NEW: We have transformed the WWI Memorial Model area (blank) with a new feature ideal for classroom use. As you invoke the model you see a category list including: Scultures, Inscriptions, and Features. Selecting a category accesses items for that category. When an item is selected a guide arrow appears in the model. Search for it and walk over to explore it. Additional information, including the full text for all inscriptions, is included. With this you can create "search" assignments for students, "easter egg hunts" as well as enjoying the plethora of the WWI information inscribed into the Memorial. There is a lot to read.

UPDATE: In the Woodrow Wilson area (5), you can now select the full screen button to view the videos looking down rather than needing to hold up your device up to look at the AR screen. It also makes the video full screen for easier viewing.

UPDATE: For Virtual Remembrances in the Peace Fountain area (6), we have expanded the filtering system and now include over 750 Stories of Service. You can submit your OWN ancestors Story of Service by looking under the NEWS thumb button.

Vs 1.31 fixes bugs and some copy errors in the App Store store presentation. The Vs 1.3x series is a complete rebuild of the previous version updating many aspects of the National WWI Memorial now that it is open to the public. This is the companion app to the WWI Memorial Visitor Guide for use at the venue in Washington, D.C. while this version brings the entire WWI Memorial to classroom, livingrooms, driveways and backyards anywhere.
