About XIMtroller

Xicato XIMtroller has the ability to see and control Bluetooth-enabled Xicato Intelligent Modules (XIM Bluetooth) that are installed as LED light sources in specification-grade spot, track, and downlight fixtures from dozens of manufacturers.

Immediately on startup, the application listens for the BLE broadcasts of the modules, and lists them by name, Bluetooth signal strength, and current lighting intensity. Users can then control the intensity of individual lights, groups of lights, or all lights using a slide switch, and can query individual XIM modules for configuration information and basic operating data, such as temperature and intensity.

Bluetooth is the future of lighting control and Internet of Things applications. XIM Bluetooth can interact with ambient light and occupancy sensors, switches, and gateways – as well as the installed base of billions of Bluetooth enabled smartphones, tablets and computers – to control and manage specification-grade lighting. XIM Bluetooth can be programmed to transmit iBeacons, and reports operating data at configurable intervals to proactively manage lighting installations.

What's New in the Latest Version 1.5.3

Last updated on Jan 16, 2022
Old Versions
We are very confident this fixes the bug we introduced in the last update. We appreciate your patience while we worked to understand and fix the root cause of the issue.

You should be able to control secured lights reliably and consistently again. If the lights are not immediately responsive when you update the app, you need to reset your local ID one final time.

1.5.2
Nov 20, 2021
We fixed a critical bug that might have prevented you from controlling your lights.

If you are still having issues after installing this update, you should go to Settings > Preferences in the app and increment your Local Node ID Value.

This is in addition to the fixes made in our previous update:

We've included updates to packet definitions in an effort to combat lagginess. We think it should be a subtle, but noticeable improvement in the delay between sending a command and updating a light's status.

We've also fixed the TTL settings and connectivity issues on newer iOS devices. Using the latest firmware on your Xicato devices will now allow you to take advantage of these features.

=New Features=
-The most important feature in 1.5 is the capability to control individual channels on multi-channel devices with an iPhone. This works for both CCT and intensity channels and it is now possible to control the channels directly. This new feature can be accessed by first tapping a multi-channel light in the App and then tapping the green arrow below the light icon.
- Multi-channel lights currently supported consist of the following types:
• Master + 4 Dim – M4D
• Master + 2 Dim – M2D
• Intensity + CCT - 1K
• Intensity + CCT + Color (Hue/Sat) - KHS
- All multi-channel lights support existing single channel light control
- All multi-channel lights support scene recall control
- There is one additional multi-channel type – “XCVD” – that reports as 5 consecutive single channel devices

=Resolved Issues=
We have made numerous fixes and tweaks to the underlying BLE engine to improve discovery, lighting response, and overall App performance. One important issue we concentrated on was advertisement flood control; if sliders are moved too quickly, the lights will be flooded with advertisements causing them to become unresponsive. We devised a solution that allows for both responsive dimming and controls the rate at which advertisements are sent out.

=Known Limitations=
As with the previous versions of the App, it is not possible to create new networks and secure the lights. We are also aware of an issue where newer devices (iPhone 8 or later) may be unable to connect to some lights.
1.4
Feb 12, 2020
You can now make connections to unassigned and public lights in order to change their names, their device IDs, and their light configurations!

(At this time, you can’t connect to secured lights or move lights into secured networks.)

In addition, we've made a number of tweaks and fixes to keep things flowing as smoothly as possible.
