年画起源于中国北宋时期，其渊源可追溯到先秦时期，随着明代中后期版画的兴盛，年画的绘制和销售已经非常成熟。

中国各地的人们通过年画这种民间艺术，来表达和抒发情感，憧憬美好圆满的生活，在其中几乎都是纯纯的正能量，看了就让人感到开心灿烂！

中国年画的创作根据不同地区而各有特色，种类和表现形式繁多，最广为人知的有天津杨柳青年画、江苏苏州桃花坞年画、河北武强年画、山东潍坊杨家埠年画、陕西凤翔年画、湖南邵阳滩头年画、河南朱仙镇年画、广东佛山年画等等，近数十个不同的地域。

应用中的年画来自于河北省武强县，该地区年画构图丰满，颜色鲜艳，线条粗犷，画中细节诙谐幽默，极具北方特色。图案内容多寄予人们对生活的美好期望，和对新年的憧憬。
