About 3D Fossil
3D Fossil includes fossils from the Virginia Museum of Natural History. In fact, the icon for this app is based on one of the oldest trilobites (540 million years old) called Olenellus found in North America from the museum's collections. We have accurately modeled the landscape based on a classic fossil collecting area in Virginia. Most importantly the fossils have been placed in their correct location, so the player can see the 3D context of the fossils, which helps to understand the geologic ages of the fossils. The size and resolution of the graphics have also been increased. This app contains our latest navigational and camera controllers. There are no ads and no in app purchases in this app. This app works best on iPads, iPod 5, iPhone 5, and iPhone SE.

Most importantly we have added compatibility for iPhone 6, 6+, 6s, and 6s+ models, and optimized the graphics for those devices. The app will still run on iPhone 5 and iPad 2 and later models. It does not run on iPhone 4 and earlier models.
We have fixed bugs, and improved the graphics especially of the fossil photographs.
We have included more fossils from the Virginia Museum of Natural History.
Players can now select from one of four avatars in this single player app.
Players can also interpret the geologic history of this region of the Appalachians.
Solve a fossil puzzle at the end.
If you click on the fossil in the inventory, a fossil card appears giving all the information on that fossil.
