About Limbs by Dr. Becker
Background of the Left-Right-Training
Recent research showed that patients with chronic diseases (e.g. stroke, chronic pain syndromes) can have difficulties in recognizing and differentiating left from right body parts. The latter could be attributed to alterations in body scheme, which in turn could result in disturbances of body perception and motor function. In addition, alterations of body scheme are associated with chronic pain syndromes.
Who could benefit from Left-Right-Training?
Different studies demonstrated alterations in body scheme in the following groups of patients: Neurological disease (e.g. stroke), chronic pain syndromes (low back pain, amputation, CRPS) , children with motor dysfunctions, dementia, focal dystonia of the hand. Repeated use of the Left-Right-Trainer might result in enhanced awareness of the affected limb and could thereby support rehabilitation and recovery of these patients. In addition, the Left-Right-Training could be used as instrument to assess and train motor imagery capacity.
The free trial version includes usage of 3 pictures. For unlimited use of the app a fee is charged.
