New in version 1.1.2:

➠ improved responsiveness of swiping gestures on home screen:

While tapping the logo at the top of the screen may often still be the fasted way to navigate, swiping now has the true iPhone feel and speed.

Many article images have underlying hi-res versions available for detailed analysis of disease characteristics. After one-time caching, these images are now made available offline too!

The caching method brings the benefit of having offline access to the hi-res content you need, without wasting large amounts of disk space by plainly storing unselected bulky imaging data sets on your device.

In addition, this update incorporates a new fullscreen display feature that shows hi-res content at full Retina resolution, without leaving your place in the article.

UPDATE 2: fix for below has been submitted to Apple

UPDATE 1: please *do NOT install* this update yet. Some users are reporting a bug with the app not starting after updating. We are looking into this.

Most users are not affected: it is possible you already updated and are experiencing no problems.

If you are experiencing this bug: we are working on a fix and will submit it to Apple ASAP. In the mean time, please accept our sincere apologies.

UPDATE: Several users have reported that deleting the app and reinstalling it from the App Store solved the problem. (Note: reinstallation is free - even if though you have to tap 'buy', you will not be charged)

1.1.1
Sep 16, 2010
- added option to cancel new article alerts after first notification

- improved notification on background indexing tasks

- minor bug fixes

New in version 1.1:

- an auto-notification feature was added that will notify you when new or updated articles are available, no more need for periodic manual update checking.

- updating from server is more resistent to interruption, for example from sudden loss of connection.

- manually checking for updates on the server can now by cancelled by tapping the Radiology Assistant logo; useful when for a slow connection causes the update process to become lengthy.

- in addition checking for updates on the server goes much faster.

- improved contact options: you can now send us questions, feedback directly from within the app.

- many minor bug fixes

Note:
Users have reported that sometimes browsing through image-stacks or tapping an image in order to show the hi-res version halts at the busy indicator, and have asked if the image-stacks and hi-res images are maybe not available.

They are available. They are just not part of the offline content, i.e. a network connection is needed to view the image-stacks and very large hi-res images.
Rationale: You can zoom in on any displayed image using standard multi-touch zoom gestures. Some images can additionally be tapped to separately show a very high resolution version. These images are not included in the offline content because if would significantly increase the size of the app, for a function that, while useful, is relatively infrequently needed.

They are available. The problem is caused by a low memory condition. Too many, or too large apps are in memory. Usually freeing memory by closing other apps solves the situation.
However now and then the only thing that will really free things up is rebooting the phone. After that hi-res images will again be accessible.
