Dùng thiên can địa chi ngày tháng năm sinh để đoán vận mệnh được Lý Hư Trung đời Đường phát minh. Từ Tử Bình đời Tống thêm can chi giờ sinh vào thành bát tự hay còn gọi là tứ trụ. Tử bình sử dụng đặc tính âm dương ngũ hành của can chi để suy đoán vận mệnh, ngoài ra còn dùng thần sát tức các sao để tham khảo. Phần mềm này lập lá số tử bình, có đủ thần sát an dưới mỗi trụ. Có 9 đại vận và tiểu vận gồm cả thần sát từng đại vận, lưu niên. Có thể lưu dữ liệu vào danh sách, thêm, sửa, xóa dữ liệu. Có đồ thị tính tỷ lệ phần trăm ngũ hành để dễ ước lượng. Ngoài ra có thêm bảng sinh vượng tử tuyệt của 10 thiên can để tra sự vượng suy. Có bảng tiết khí của các tháng trong năm tùy chọn thuộc múi giờ GMT+7.
Vì tử bình tính tháng theo tiết khi nên nếu giờ sinh gần với thời điềm giao tiết khí như trước hoặc sau 15, 20 phút thì cần xem cả 2 tháng để tìm ra tháng sinh đúng.
