VibAdVisor VDV: Vibration Dose Value

When assessing intermittent vibration (mean of transportation) it is necessary to use the vibration dose value (VDV), a cumulative measurement of the vibration level received over an 8-hour or 16-hour period. The vibration dose value (VDV) is applied only to whole-body vibration (WBV) and a generic term used where any vibration of any frequency is transmitted to the human body, especially where there is high vibration and shock in the spine.

Whole-Body Vibration is experienced when sitting, standing or lying on a vibrating surface. For example, a forklift truck operator, tractor, helicopters, boats may be exposed to vibration through the seat, backrest or when standing by the feet resulting in WBV. These vibrations can also be transmitted when lying down, needing to exchange the axes assessment carefully with the weights in the x, y and z. The exposure action value (EAV) is a daily amount of vibration exposure above which employers are required to take action to control exposure. The greater the exposure level, the greater the risk and the more action employers will need to take to reduce the risk. For VDV the EAV is a daily exposure of 9.1 m/s1,75. The exposure limit value (ELV) is the maximum amount of vibration an employee may be exposed to on any single day. For VDV the ELV is a daily exposure of 21,0 m/s1,75. It represents a high risk above which employees should not be exposed.

The app ViBAdvisor VDV is a extremely easy to use calculator for estimating vibration exposures, based on partial normalized VDVP, Max VDVRaxis and VDVRv (Combined). It is a quick tool for auditing and analyze the measurement results and occupational reports.
