《法鼓》雜誌創刊於1989年12月，以推廣法鼓山的理念，展現法鼓山鼓手的悲心與願行為宗旨，是一份免費提供給關心法鼓山的各界人士的專屬刊物，每月月初出刊。
以生動、活潑的親切筆調，報導法鼓山透過大學院、大普化、大關懷三大教育，以及各項國際弘化事業，推動「提昇人的品質，建設人間淨土」理念，弘揚｢漢傳禪佛教｣的成果，深化｢心靈環保｣的核心主軸，以求解行並重，淨化現代人心，關懷社會大眾。

刊頭「來法鼓山觀音道場，參北臺灣第一聖地」一偈，由聖嚴法師親自題字，邀請社會大眾親臨新北市金山區「法鼓山世界佛教教育園區」，體驗心靈環保、人間淨土的禪悅境教。
