With this release, you’ll now be able to complete ID verification for FICA (Financial Intelligence Centre Act) compliance. This is an important measure that makes Virgin Money Spot more safe and secure for all customers.

In addition, we’ve improved the Store Locator and added the ability to tip when paying with Spot at a sit-down restaurant.

A number of additional bug fixes and security enhancements have also been made.

Cash Back Partners – Get rewarded with even more deals. We’ve enhanced our “Cash Back Partners” section to include more detailed information about our deals, including the stores closest to you at any time. Check the page regularly to see where you can spend and get rewarded.
As with all new releases, we’ve enhanced the app design to improve speed, efficiency and security.

Now you can use Spot to pay at leading stores across the country. Use the “Store Locator” feature to find stores near you, and simply use the “Pay a merchant” button when settling your bill to pay using money in your Spot Wallet or from your linked bank card.

Cash Back Partners – Get rewarded with cash paid straight back into your Spot Wallet when you use Spot to pay with selected partners. Check the “Cash Back Partners” section regularly to see where you can spend and get rewarded.

Airtime and Data – With this release, you can now buy airtime and data for most South African cellular providers, in the Spot app using money in your Spot Wallet or your linked bank card.

As with all new releases, we’ve enhanced the app design to improve speed, efficiency and security.

There’s also a new in-app Support centre, which you can use to send us your feedback. We’d love to hear from you.

Introducing the Spot Wallet! From now, all payments will be available in your Spot Wallet in an instant. As cash will be sent straight to your Spot Wallet, you simply link your bank account to cash-out funds from your Wallet.

Don’t have a 3D secure bank card? don’t worry, now you’ll be able to add funds to your Spot Wallet using your bank account.

We’ve also added merchant payments – where you see a “Pay with Spot” sign, simply click the “pay a merchant” button and scan the merchants QR code.

In this latest update we’ve added a feature that allows you to add new members to an existing Group!
We’ve also included some fixes to improve the way special characters are seen in the App.

What’s new in the latest version of Spot?

We’ve made some improvements to the way payments are viewed within a Group, making it clearer to see who has and hasn’t paid.

Even more exciting, is that the referral reward amount has been increased to R30. Refer your friends and family and for each new person you successfully sign-up, you’ll both receive R30 – That’s a really nice coffee for each of you!

As with each update, we’ve made some minor bug fixes, security and performance enhancements.

Get excited about the latest version of Virgin Money Spot!

It’s now even easier to split bills and share costs with Group Payments. You can create a Group for any occasion and choose whether costs are split equally or set different amounts for each Group member.

This is a new feature, so bear with us while we iron out bugs. Feel free to send us comments or suggestions using the in-app support link. We’d love to hear from you.

You spoke and we listened, version 2.0 of Spot is out!

You can now transact quickly and securely using your linked debit or credit card. This new version also allows you to refer friends using a personal share code and earn rewards once they link their card.
