We have made some improvements and added a few new features!
- The app is properly formatted for efficiency across all device sizes.
- We fixed bugs causing issues for users when browsing locations and when linking to our other birding apps, such as the Hotspots app.
- Every species list now includes the Smart Search feature. This feature aids in quick bird identification when in the field. To use this feature, tap the magnifying glass icon (with a '+') in the top right corner of a species list page. For users familiar with these pages, this icon has taken the place of the filter icon-- the filter icon is now located in the bottom corner of the species list pages.
- Based on a request from a several users, you can now download your life list on to your mobile device! Visit your life list page and tap the download icon in the top right corner.

As always we would love to hear your feedback. Contact us at support@getbirdseye.com

Happy birding!

Here is a new release just in time for your holiday birding!

We’re pleased to announce a new release with a key improvement to BirdsEye - more robust offline content.

The newest release of BirdsEye provides for better offline experience by making the offline data - photos and text - available for a longer period of time. The old version cleared the data after a period of time, and unfortunately this may have coincided with the time you needed oo be offline most - when traveling to a remote location without good internet. You don’t have to worry about that, your offline data will stick around.

Thanks for all the great reviews and support this year, we have a lot of exciting things planned for 2017 and hope you'll keep giving us feedback about how we can make BirdsEye the best bird finding app in the world!

# The Details for the 2.5 update

• more robust offline use capabilities
• iOS 11 formatting supported.
• general bug fixes and improvements

If you feel generous or have a couple of minutes, please take some time to leave a rating and review on the App Store. It makes a huge difference to us. Thank you so very much.

We love hearing from you! Get in touch with us at support@getbirdseye.com, @birdseyebirding on Twitter, and facebook.com/birdseye.nature.apps.

Good news, we've fixed some bugs just in time for your holiday birding!

Thanks for all the great reviews and support this year, we have a lot of exciting things planned for 2016 and hope you'll keep giving us feedback about how we can make BirdsEye the best bird finding app in the world!

# The Details for the 2.4.1 update

• Christmas Bird Count pins now default to showing sightings just within the 7.5 mile radius circle of the count.
• Smart Search reliability tweaks

If you feel generous or have a couple of minutes, please take some time to leave a rating and review on the App Store. It makes a huge difference to us. Thank you so very much.

SMART SEARCH
Use color, size and habitat to quickly narrow down the list of nearby sightings to find what you are looking for. Just stepped off the plane in Sydney, Australia and want to identify that blue and white swallow? A couple taps and you'll know that you are looking at a Welcome Swallow!

Smart Search is targeted to the traveling birder and new birders, helping you quickly learn the birds wherever you are in the world.

Not happy with one of the Smart Search results? Just swipe left over the entry and click the Feedback button to let us know!

XENO-CANTO LINK
Tap the link icon on any bird description or map screen to get a direct link to xeno-canto recordings for that species!

MORE STABLE OFFLINE DATA
Offline content like images and sounds are now stored in a more persistent area on your device, so it is less likely to be deleted by your phone if you are running low on storage. We want to make sure you can always access the data you need no matter where you are!

CURRENT AND SELECT MONTHS
You can now select any month when you are looking at a hotspot. Great for trip planning!

Lots of bug fixes, tweaks, and improvements to make the app more stable.

Enjoying the update? Reviews and ratings get reset for each release. If you are feeling generous, please leave a review. Thanks in advance!

MAJOR UPGRADE. Please read!

We are excited to introduce a brand new model for BirdsEye. Going forward BirdsEye will offer basic functionality for free so everyone can see the most common species around them. Advanced features will be offered through in-app purchases.

We appreciate those of you who have been supported us over the years. Existing BirdsEye users will not have to pay more to continue getting the great features you are used to. Plus this upgrade will be bringing you some new features like searching by month and more favorite locations. If you have questions or are unsure about whether you're getting full access, please contact customer support for help. (support@getbirdseye.com)

Here's a more detailed summary of changes:

REGION LISTS
You asked for an easier way to explore just the birds you are interested, and now you can! Browse all Species is now 'Region Lists', and lets you filter the lists to show just those species that are included in any specific product in our store. Browse just the list of species in your Bird Sounds of Venezuela collection, or limit it to exploring birds found in North America.

LOCATION SEARCH
Another one of the most requested features, searching for birding locations by name. On the Browse by Location screen there is now a search icon in the upper right. Tap that and you can search for cities, parks, rivers and more. You can even narrow the search down to just your state or country for more accurate results.

SET A MONTH FOR FAVORITE LOCATIONS
You can now select a month for each of your favorites. Use this to create a favorite for your spring trip to Magee Marsh, or your summer vacation to Paris, and you will know exactly what to expect before you even get there.

2.1.1 update - just a few tweaks to make sure everything is working great!

MAJOR UPGRADE with lots of new features. Please read.

BIRDSEYE REGIONAL PACKAGES
You can now access all the BirdsEye regional and sound packages in a single version of BirdsEye on your phone! If you already own other regional versions, all you need to do is log in to each. That tells our server that you own it. The next time you log in to BirdsEye it will recognize that you own those other regions and make all of those species available through BirdsEye. We think it's pretty cool to have access to all of your birds in one place!

DIRECTIONS TO HOTSPOTS AND BIRDS
A much requested feature, you can now get directions to any location shown on a map in the app, whether it is a hotspot in Browse Map, or a bird sighting. It's about time, right?

DOWNLOAD FOR OFFLINE
We made it easier to download all of the photos and sounds you'll need when you're birding off the grid!

TIP: BROWSE ALL SPECIES
This new menu item gives you quick access to any bird in the world that you own. If you don't own any content for one of the species, we'll show you which packages will expand your coverage. You can search for birds by name or by 4-letter code. Try it! Typing "rtha" is a lot easier and faster than typing "Red-tailed Hawk"!

TIP: BROWSE BIRDS BY CURRENT MONTH
Browse by current month is available to all users and lets you explore all the species that are likely to occur at this time of year, whether or not they have been reported recently nearby in the last few weeks. Also a great way to see what rarities have shown up in the past and what to look out for!

MEMBERS: BROWSE BIRDS SELECT A MONTH
Members (who help pay for upgrades like this!) are getting access to this feature first. Now you can select any month or combination of months to use when looking at a list of birds. Use it for planning a trip to Peru next winter, or your trip to California next week.

Many other tweaks, including speeding up the performance of life lists, and more. More iOS8 fixes.

RATINGS
Our ratings in the App Store reset each time we release an update. Positive reviews directly affect our rankings and our ability to keep improving BirdsEye. Our team consists entirely of volunteer and low-paid bird fanatics. We need and appreciate your support to keep this app live!

NEW: BIRD GUIDE STORE
We have partnered with Birdsounds.nl, the premier online store selling some of the most comprehensive bird sounds packages for many regions around the world. Purchasing these packages will give you access to these extensive collections of bird songs from right inside of BirdsEye. Fix: Compatibility with iOS 5. Some users were experiencing crashes, which are corrected in this version.

New Feature: Map view now highlights birding hotspots with rare/notable birds and birds that are not on your life list.

New Feature: Maps the location of the 1000 most recent sightings of a species, helping you understand their geographic distribution.

This release includes a fix for the slow eBird downloads that some users experienced after upgrading to iOS4.

The 'View Birding Hotspots' screen includes many new public hotspots that were added to eBird since the last BirdsEye update.

Three-year history is now displayed even for personal locations and new public hotspots.

The following species have been added:
Variegated Flycatcher
Loggerhead Kingbird
Taiga Flycatcher
Brown-backed Solitaire
Orange-billed Nightingale-Thrush
Black-headed Nightingale-Thrush
Redwing
Bare-throated Tiger-Heron
White-tailed Eagle
Red-footed Falcon

We updated the common names for the following birds in order to stay in sync with the recent eBird taxonomy change.
Peach-faced Lovebird is now Rosy-faced Lovebird
Black-hooded Parakeet is now Nanday Parakeet
Hill Myna is now Common Hill Myna
Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow is now Nelson's Sparrow
Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow is now Saltmarsh Sparrow

Improvements in this release:

✔ Displays observations from eBird "personal locations"
Maps and lists are no longer limited to observations at public hotspots. You will now see many more local observations. Plus, the birds that are hardest to find don't always choose to show up at public hotspots. Displaying observations from personal locations makes finding these birds much easier.

✔ Downloads new hotspots from eBird
BirdsEye will now download new public hotspots that are added to eBird, and will update the local database if a personal location is promoted to a public hotspot in eBird.

✔ Displays a "last updated" date
Lists and maps will now display the date and time of the last download from eBird. Now you can be sure that you are viewing the freshest data available.
