Bonfyre Description
Bonfyre is a workplace culture platform for building human connections in a modern, more remote workforce. We do this by giving employees the digital space – separate from productivity tools – they need to recreate the casual “water cooler” interactions that build relationships, trust and inclusion.

Our platform is an everyday, frontend destination for culture drivers such as team building, recognition, surveys, employee wellbeing, philanthropy, communities of shared interest, and more. And with everything in one place, we identify and suggest the specific actions employees can take – from sharing a photo to recognizing a colleague – to improve business outcomes like retention, satisfaction and performance.

Bonfyre is free to download and use, with upgradeable plans for enterprise audiences. Upgrading provides access to dozens of customizable features that support: improved internal communications, gathering feedback through surveys, amplifying employee recognition, facilitating internal events, and accessing analytics to measure the impact of these efforts. Gather around™ with Bonfyre.

5.2.18 2022-08-24
This version corrects a minor issue with rendering the full text of comments on the Comments screen. It also adds preliminary support for Chinese (simplified) as a translated language.

Have any feedback for us? Share it by sending an email to hey@bonfyreapp.com!
5.2.17 2022-02-04
This version of Bonfyre adds the ability to recognize users who have been registered but who have not yet joined the platform. Pretty straightforward, it's snowing outside here in Saint Louis, so let's call it here and go make snow angels! If you have any feedback or issues, please contact us!
5.2.16 2021-10-20
Fall is in the air here in Saint Louis, the leaves are changing, and we're releasing an update to Bonfyre! With this release, we've begun the process of translating the application text into Spanish. While this release should cover the vast majority of the user experience, your patience is appreciated while we continue translating all screens and error message (there are a lot!).

If you see anything that looks odd, or you just want to reach out and say hello, feel free to send us a message at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
5.2.15 2021-10-11
At last, it's nearly the end of the summer heat here, and fall colors are soon to invade all of our parks and yards. Even though the days are getting shorter, these are some of the best days to get outside, stretch, and get some fresh air. Speaking of fresh air, this a new update to Bonfyre! It adds better support for rendering gif media attachments, adds several changes to work with the new iOS 15, and continues to enhance our Campaigns feature. We hope you enjoy it!

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or favorite fall activities, please feel free to reach us at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
5.2.14 2021-08-05
This update fixes an issue editing chats that could cause the app to crash, somewhat improves the editing experience in general, and includes a set of informational tooltips in the plus-button content creation workflows. Maybe not the most exciting update, but that doesn't mean we can't feel good about it! In fact, try to take a moment to reflect on the good work you've done today, even if it wasn't exciting, and feel good about your progress. Onward and upward!
5.2.1 2020-12-22
Happy Holidays!

We've completed our new year resolution ahead of schedule, so check out our new look for the new year! We have circular avatars, some fun drop shadows, and a smoother feel in the feed.

Any one out there planning any fun new year resolutions? Seen any weird experiences in Bonfyre, or bugs? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com
5.2.0 2020-12-18
Native iPad support.

-boom-

In other news, we removed support for iOS 12, fixed numerous bugs, and did we mention native iPad support?

If you have an iPad (running iPadOS 13 or iPadOS 14), just update Bonfyre and everything should continue working, but now you have an iPad specific experience.

We're pretty excited about this and hope that a lot of you will be too!

Is there anything else you are excited about? Seen any weird experiences in Bonfyre, or bugs? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com
5.1.38 2020-11-24
We're striving to make your experience smoother and more intuitive than ever, so for this release we've been doing some behind the scenes work. Although not noticeable now, we hope it will improve your experience in the future! We also did a bugfix to stop themes from appearing in the wrong community.

What do you think makes a good app experience? Let us know that or if you've seen any bugs that need fixing at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.37 2020-11-20
Here at Bonfyre we keep campaigning away for more ways to keep everyone connected. So, with this release we bring you a new way to view all your available campaigns together. And because we know the holiday season is fast approaching, we thought we'd do a little decorating. That's right, increased decorations for campaign responses! Now it is easier than ever to find who has entered, responded, and to keep up with all those around you.

Putting up your favorite seasonal decorations soon? We'd love to hear about them or any bugs that need fixing at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.36 2020-11-11
No sooner did we release the bug fix release when we found another that needed to go out very soon!

In this release, we fixed the feature that allows us to communicate to you that the version you are using is no longer supported by our server and that you need to update. This allows us to ship security updates that would otherwise break the app in weird ways. Since you, dear user, always keep your Bonfyre up to date, you'll never see this view!

Seen any unexplained or unidentified oddities in Bonfyre lately? In the real world? Tell us all about them at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.34 2020-11-06
Greetings!

This release is full of updated code, some maintenance updates, and bug fixes.

A part of this is a change to how some views in the app are presented. Instead of swooping in from the right, they’ll swoop up from the bottom. This is probably the biggest change that is noticeable.

All in all this is a kind of boring release for you, dear user. But for us it is super exciting!

Ever been super excited about something most others were non-plussed about? See any weird bugs that you did not see before? Or any you saw before and still see? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!

Hello Again!

Campaigns can be about anything that brings us together. So, Campaigns now have a way to see all of a campaign's entries together. Campaign calling for favorite fall memories? See all your teammates sharing about grandma's hot cocoa, pictures of children jumping in piles of leaves, and handmade trick or treating costumes. Then go post your own! If you need some inspiration, us here at Bonfyre really like the bonfires.

What ideas do you have for a Campaign? Please share it or let us know if you've seen any bugs in Bonfyre at support@bonfyreapp.com!

*This release includes a bug fix to the ending date logic of a campaign. We just wanted them to go on extra long!

Hello Bonfyre Users,
We’ve got the first round of code in the can for a new feature, but it is not QUITE ready for release. We campaigned to release it anyway, but were overruled. Alas, we dug in a fixed a few minor bugs, like being able to create Quick Polls without immediately publishing them!
Got any ideas for new features you'd like to see? Tell us all about them or if you've seen any bugs in Bonfyre at support@bonfyreapp.com!

Happy Mid August!

We've been working on wrapping up some summer projects before fall. On that note, we've made some improvements!

PDFs you've opened recently now open lickety split. We added a bug fix for the PDF sharing button on iOS 12; it is now more functional than ever, in that it well, functions. And last, but certainly not least, we've smoothed out some of our account switching.

What fun summer projects did you have this year? Tell us all about them or if you've seen any bugs in Bonfyre at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.28 2020-08-07
Hello Again,

We noticed we were preventing some of you from taking a picture of your beautiful self while signing up. This has been fixed! We'd like to extend our humblest apologies and encourage everyone to now selfie away.

We're also adding a new Pretty Darn Fantastic, or PDF, feature! It's PDFs! You'll now be able to view PDFs from messages. Wait that is confusing; our new PDF feature is PDFs? Yup, but the Portable Document Format kind. I definitely didn't know what PDF stood for before this. Enjoy!

Besides PDFs, what is something you find pretty darn fantastic? Let us know that or if you've seen any bugs in Bonfyre at support@bonfyreapp.com!

** Bug fix: There was a hiccup in viewing the PDFs. They are now ready to be viewed at your leisure! **
5.1.26 2020-07-27
Greetings all!

We decided it was probably not best to have link previews obscure the ability to translate your content, so we fixed it! Now you can interact with both in the same message! It's a novel idea, we know.

How many languages are you fluent in? Let us know how many and which ones or if you've seen any bugs in Bonfyre at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.24 2020-07-15
Greetings from your favorite electronic pesticidal developers!

We've got a major new feature in the oven and it is ALMOST ready to be released. Soon, so very soon! In the mean time, we've been fixing some bugs too and we'd like to get these out to you as soon as possible.

First up, we fixed a layout glitch in the Community Terms of Use dialog that would block users from entering a community.
Next up, we rewrote some code that was keeping a few users from being able to submit Surveys and Quick Polls. The upside is that submission is faster now!
Also, we fixed how the #hashtag view displays so that it properly matches themed Bonfyre communities.
And, we fixed a bug that did not allow some password resets to proceed.
Lastly, we made some minor tweaks to some of the interactions in the sign up views and fixed another rare crasher.

Seen any bugs or have suggestions for improving Bonfyre? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.23 2020-06-25
Greetings!

That last release would crash on some users on launch. This release fixes the app so all users can launch without crashing.

Sorry!

Has Bonfyre crashed on you recently? Maybe just behaved strangely? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.21 2020-06-18
Remote greetings!

We’ve got some bug fixes and some major maintenance updates which you should simply not even notice.

First up, we fixed a sporadic bug where creating a new Bonfyre community would not be possible because our code to check that the name was unique was not working right. We got it right this time. We promise! party-hat-emoji

Next up, we fixed a mistake (mea culpa) in how our new Chat-Translation feature is implemented so that it was not available to client employees. face-palm-emoji

And then we updated all the things. In technical terms, we’ve been using old iOS frameworks marked as deprecated. This means they work, but at some point, our favorite fruit flavored technology company is gonna remove them. Some of these are approaching 5 years old, so the risk of them being removed was getting very real. So we updated the code. hooray-emoji

We updated the framework used for accessing the camera and your photo library. We also updated the framework used for processing remote push notifications. And lastly, we went through our code and fixed all but a few of the instances of other deprecation warnings. computer-emoji

Fascinating stuff…to us nerds. To you, this just means we cleaned out the refrigerator and replaced some old things. spring-cleaning-emoji

So all in all a pretty boring, but substantial update. More cool stuff in the next update! anticipation-emoji

Have any cool ideas about what is missing in Bonfyre? Have any peeves about Bonfyre you think should be addressed? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com! email-emoji
5.1.20 2020-05-27
Hello from my super quiet home office chair!

It was getting squeaky so we ordered some silicon based lubricant and, OH WOW, it is so quiet! My spouse is even happier than I am. I like to bounce a lot when I am rocking out to some EDM while I code! Anyways, I digress. You're not here to read about my sheltering-in-place practices. You want to know what is up with this release of Bonfyre!

Here's the lowdown:
- We're working on a new feature that is partially done, but not all the way done. So look for it to be announced in the next release. It is trés magnifique!
- We fixed a bug in how we handle deep links so that emails with links to Bonfyre will ONLY open Bonfyre if the app can handle them. CSVs will now open in Safari. Safari should ask if you'd like to use another qualifying app on your phone.
- We fixed a bug where the bottom border of Announcements with images would not be drawn when there was a trailing comment.
- We fixed a bug where Friend Requests would not display in the Friend Requests view.
- We fixed a bug where using the keyboard swipe to type feature would freeze and crash the app.
- We upgraded some older libraries to newer versions using the Swift Package Manager. You should not care about this, but this is super cool to us!

So basically, we're working on improving the quality of Bonfyre and adding new features. But sometimes those features are just not all the way done. We are working trés rapidement on this new feature, so hang in there we'll have something new real soon!

Have you seen any trés unfortunate bugs in the app? Maybe something less than optimal? Or just an update on your shelter-in-place situation? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.19 2020-05-13
Greetings from the home office! (I mean the office at my home, not the home office of Bonfyre. Gosh, I miss that place! Getting to see my co-workers, to talk face-to-face with other developers and designers, account managers and sales people, leadership, HR, the marketing peeps who have no idea I am writing this, and even the other people from other companies in our building who we see coming in or going home. I miss the fun peeps at my fave sandwich place at Daggett and Macklind. Hmmm, the Spicy Daggett sounds SOOO good right now!)

I have a feeling you know how I feel! Thankfully we both have Bonfyre! I am not out of the loop, that is for sure!

With this update, we've got a bug fix, a couple of fixes for infrequent background crashers, and a minor enhancement that came about as a result of some maintenance.

First up, we discovered a bug in our handling of links in the app. If you tapped some links, the app would ask if you wanted to accept an invitation to join a Bonfyre community. We fixed it so this doesn't happen. Truly, even if that was not a real invite, we love you and wish we could invite you to join our favorite Bonfyre communities!

Next up, we fixed a couple of background crashers. In these two cases, when the app tried to process link previews or parse chats with some special formatting in the background (when your phone is locked or you happen to be using another app. *gasp*) We fixed this. So Bonfyre should now be faster to launch those few times these background crashers would previously happen. Hooray for fewer crashes, even when you don't really know they're happening!

Lastly, we updated and streamlined what is called the polling utility. This feature basically just uses a timer to talk to our server so you know when there are new chats, surveys, or broadcasts while you are in the app. We've been wanting to do this for a while, and finally, we did it! SUCCESS! As an added benefit, when you are in the Activity tab of the app, we increased the frequency so that the badging is more up to date. Aw yeah!

I want to thank you for reading through my long, wordy, and unnecessarily detailed release notes. Seriously, thank you. You are the best!

Want to write a long wordy, unnecessarily detailed message or bug report to us? Please do so at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.18 2020-05-01
Greetings from my couch!

We've got a small mixed bag of updates for you.

First is an enhancement. We've revamped the Bonfyre Community Welcome message to be a little cleaner. Additionally, it will now reflect the Large Text Accessibility setting.

Next up, we fixed some defects, one in the layout of surveys, another in an infrequent crasher, and lastly, videos from YouTube will now properly display a preview in the chat feed. Hooray for quality!

Lastly, we continued on-going maintenance of the app with some changes with an eye towards future work.

We've been distancing ourselves and missing our office. But we're doing our part and hope you are doing yours too!

Stay safe and report your Bonfyre bugs to support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.17 2020-04-23
Spring has sprung, and so have the bugs!

With this release, we've fixed a small outbreak of crashers which are the worst kind of bugs. So rather than wait to see if this is a bigger outbreak, we're busting out the bug spray and getting after them!

So if you experienced a crash while editing your skills list, viewing announcements, or experienced just an untimely crash, please update to this new release and try again!

Have you experienced a crash or some other oddity? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.15 2020-03-20
Greetings from home!

We’ve been busy trying to make your social distancing feel less isolating and with this release, we’ve got some nice fixes. Nothing really new, just lots of rock solid quality for you!

First up, we revamped how your session in the app is managed. So now when you switch accounts, leave the app, come back to the app, ya know, basically do all the things, you stay logged in.

Next up, we re-examined all of our code around remote or push notifications to make sure you get your pushes if you want them.

Next, we had a very odd bug that only occurred occasionally, and we had a lot of difficulty reproducing. The solution was to completely revamp the code behind our Survey and Quick Polls feature. We then proceeded to test it. Then tested it again. And again. We’re pretty happy it is solid. We also tweaked a few things here and there, so submitting a survey will move along a little faster.

We had a couple of features we no longer supported that had vestigial representations of themselves in the app. We removed our fun, but chaotic Mystery Image feature completely. Yeah, we’re sad to see it go, but we’re not sad to have to delete the occasionally unwanted image. Next, we removed LinkedIn integration. We’re sad to see this go, but it had limited utility and was no longer working.

And that is not all. We reviewed our crash reports and fixed our 5 biggest crashers over the last few months and also fixed some small isolated bugs here and there. And did I mention we tested all of this?

Did we miss anything? Of course we did! Let us know when you find it at support@bonfyreapp.com!

You, dear user, are simply the best! Stay distant. Stay healthy. Stay engaged with Bonfyre!
5.1.14 2020-03-04
Happy March!

In this release, we have one bug fix to make sure you get the push notifications you asked for us to send you!

Sadly, we broke this with an upgrade a while ago that breaks this with every upgrade since then, even though you might have re-enabled them. This should fix that for all users.

We're terribly sorry!

Know of any other embarrassingly bad bugs in Bonfyre? What about quirks or just ordinary bugs? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.13 2020-02-27
Welp, we heard from some users that sometimes for no reason at all they would need to login to Bonfyre again. This is not a great experience. I mean, our login experience is pretty neat and all, but if you just used Bonfyre, it should be ready and waiting for you to recognize a co-worker, make an announcement, take a survey or Quick Poll, share a thought, share a photo or video, get caught up with what your co-workers are up to, react to a message, or, well, anything Bonfyre can do!

We fixed at least one way this was happening and are keeping an eye on the situation to make sure this is fixed. If not, look for another update soon!

Being logged out unexpectedly, or is Bonfyre acting strangely? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.12 2020-02-25
We've got some bug and crash fixes for you with this release. Nothing fancy unless you prefer to not crash!
- (Note: this is the same as 5.1.11 but includes a change that was missed in the build of the last release. So this first and most important fix is ACTUALLY included in this release. We apologize for any confusion.)
- First up, there was a crasher where the app would crash when switching back to your main account after using a delegate or persona account. This was sporadic and affected some people more than others. This should now be fixed, at least in more cases.
- Next up, there was a crasher where swiping through the gallery could trigger a crash when the caption of the image was really long. The fix here keeps the crash from happening, but the caption will be just an ellipsis in these cases. We'll fix the caption very soon.
- Thirdly, some Single Sign On users were unable to login. We fixed this, so these users should be able to login again.
- Lastly, the animation to dismiss the "lifesaver" banner in Surveys was broken. We fixed this. All nice and smooth again!

Experienced any crashers or bugs that make you sad? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.10 2020-02-17
We shipped our last update just a bit too fast. Sorry! We have one more crasher fix that affects a small, but not too small, number of users. It is kind of like the Goldilocks number of users for a crasher to cause us to rush out a fix.

In this update you get that same great set of bug fixes and minor enhancements as in the last release, plus this one new fix! Progress!

Ever hit send and then see that you missed a glaring typo in an email or do you see another glaring bug in Bonfyre? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.9 2020-02-14
Happy Valentine's Day!

In this update, we have a heart shaped box of bug fixes for you!
- In the gallery, sometimes the React and Comment buttons would do nothing if you navigated far enough back into old photos. We fixed this and now you can react and comment on any photo, no matter how old it is!
- Also in the gallery, we added tappable @mentions and #hashtags in the caption.
- When starting to react to a chat, previously, you had to tap once in the background to dismiss before being able to scroll or interact with the chat stream.
- In some rare cases, changing the name of a Bonfyre Community would fail. We fixed this to not fail anymore!
- When browsing the People menu button of a Bonfyre Community, imported users would display using YOUR avatar and then open YOUR profile. This was spooky and weird. We have fixed this to show the appropriate generic avatar and not load any profile.
- In some rare cases during launch or receiving a push notification, the app would crash trying to display a Broadcast message. We apologize for the inconvenience. This is fixed now.
- We enhanced our internal logging infrastructure so now all critical errors and events are logged back to Bonfyre for troubleshooting and feedback. This is how we learn about some bugs and are able to fix them before too many people are affected.

Lastly, we added a new feature so that when entering your email address during sign up or sign in to catch common typos on the .com and .org top level domain names!

Thank you for using Bonfyre, we love all of our users!

Send us a valentine with your loving stories about Bonfyre or any bugs that are breaking your heart. Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.8 2020-02-03
Happy Groundhog Day!

We've got a small feature enhancement in this update that merely makes sure you don't have a really bad password.

How does this work? Simply put, we securely apply a set of rules to your password to determine if it is a very bad password. If so, you just need to choose a new one! What is the easiest way to choose a good password? Use a Password Manager. Since you are right here in the App Store, do a quick search!

Have any fun password stories, questions about good password security, or any bugs to report? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.7 2020-01-22
We fixed a bug in how deep links to one of our sub-domains works so that it does actually work.

We added one character to the code. And now all email verifications will work! Yay!

Have any neat ideas or found any bugs in Bonfyre? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.6 2020-01-16
This release fixes a bug in the last release that would prevent new users from deep linking their email verification into the app. This now works as before.

Plus, you still get all the good fixes and new features in the last release!

Have any questions or suggestions for us? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.5 2020-01-14
Happy New Year!

In this release, we expanded our deep linking capabilities dramatically so that shared links will open deeper into Bonfyre than before! So a link to a specific survey, recognition, announcement, or chat will be opened in Bonfyre! Share away!

We also fixed some bugs!
- The gallery image caption was too narrow. We broke out the label stretcher and bolted on a new constraint to expand and hold it to the full width.
- Tapping the blurred background of some dialogs when taking a survey would leave the app in an odd state. This was never supposed to be possible. So we fixed the glitch. Sorry Milton!
- When answering benchmark survey questions, a user could select more than the one they should have. Scoundrels! But alas, we fixed this so only one option can be selected.
- Lastly, we fixed how a progress indicator is built to display the animation sooner. Sometimes the simpler fixes are the most satisfying!

And we did some under the hood updates that mostly should not be noticeable, but make Bonfyre more secure, stable, and performant.

We love feedback! Have some for us? Or maybe a fun office story about unusually colored staplers? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.4 2019-12-18
Hi there!

We built in a neat feature that would alert you to upgrade when taking a survey we could not display. It was really cool…when it worked. We gave it a reassuring talk and it is back on the job!

That's it. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Have you experienced any odd behaviors in Bonfyre or fun stories about snow days? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.3 2019-11-26
For most users, this update is just like the last update.

But for some users, particularly Bonfyre Community Admins, this build will crash less than the last build when switching accounts and viewing the Activity tab. So that's nice. Also, we fixed a bug where the Surveys in the Activity tab were not updating when you switched accounts. So that is even nicer.

Do you like things to be nice and nicer? Please let us know about some of the things you like that are nice, or if you see any opportunity to make Bonfyre nicer at support@bonfyreapp.com!

We'd like to welcome you to this newest version of Bonfyre! It is a spiffy collection of new features and bug fixes!

First of all, we added a clean way to welcome new members to your community with a welcome message! At the same time, we tidied up the existing Community Terms of Use screen so that it feels more clean and fresh. Like those wonderful spring days we're longing for so many months from now!

Next up, we fixed a number of bugs and crashers. We'd specifically like to call your attention to bug fixes in Quick Polls and Surveys when attempting to paste more than the minimum length of the answer. Now, we just let you paste (or even type) all you like. We just require you to trim things down before submitting. So get typing, and then get editing!

Wondering about how to add that welcome message to your community? Seen any other bugs we need to fix? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.1 2019-11-12
Hi there! We hope you liked our update to the Activity Tab! We are really quite proud of it. Sadly, we released it with our upgrade to support the latest version of iOS. This work went mostly pretty smoothly and we're quite happy with it. We knew we'd miss something. We did not expect to see it within a day of the release in so obvious of a way. Alas, if you happened to experience the strange behavior and layout of a Recognition message with an image, you got to see this abomination.

This release fixes that and a few other chat layout issues that have been on our back burner for a while. Honestly, we're a little embarrassed how long it took to get these fixed. Please enjoy the bottom borders of the chats in your favorite Bonfyres. We found them and have restored them to their rightful place at the bottom of each chat.

Seen any fun meteorites? Noticed any strange Bonfyre behavior or missing features? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.1.0 2019-11-11
If you are a triskaidekaphobe and have not upgraded to the latest iOS version on your phone, then this build may not be as meaningful to you as it is to others.

On the other hand, you (and the triskaidekaphiles) have the all new Activity tab to check out! Now you can check your activity out by Bonfyre module to see how many of your halloween jokes got :-) or got 8-) reactions. You can also check to see all of your recognitions, missed broadcasts, and a new home for Surveys and Quick Polls.

Fear not though, lover or hater of the integer immediately greater than a dozen (or lesser than fourteen?), the beloved Bagel we so recently updated is going nowhere, just yet anyway.

Also in the release, we changed the timing of updates when in the Survey and Quick Poll view to reduce network traffic (less data, yay!). We also fixed it so that avatars viewed in the public profile view are now higher resolution (requires more data, dernit!).

Hear any good jokes from the trick or treaters? Find any spooky bugs in Bonfyre? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!

Happy autumn!

The leaves are changing and so is Bonfyre!

First up this time, we made some minor tweaks to the login screen. Nothing major yet, but we’re always working to make this better!
Next, we discovered that in some cases, when tapping OK on a message box with a switch, nothing would happen. We fixed this so that the thing that was supposed to happen when you did this will now happen. Yay!
For those of you who get surveys and quick polls, the notification button would sometimes just disappear. This made it hard to take those surveys and quick polls. Sorry! We've fixed this so that it should always be there to remind you to answer those surveys!
Lastly, we discovered that users on a new superstitiously numbered OS would not be able to navigate back after entering a Bonfyre community via search. We apologize for this unexpected eddy in the navigation continuum. We’re not sure who this Eddy is, but we’ve fixed the problem.

See any other questionable bugs or have any fun plays on words like names, please share them at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.0.9 2019-09-17
We’ve increased the visibility of the persistent notification button we call “the bagel”. This is the hovering orange or green button on the upper right side of the app when you have an unread Broadcast or incomplete Survey.

We’ve also fixed it so that it only shows when you are browsing Bonfyre communities or direct messages. Before it would show up at some weird times. The should be fixed now.

Speaking of hovering buttons, when taking a survey, we use one when you are typing a response so you can jump to the next question. We fixed a bug where this would appear for the last question that would conveniently crash the app when tapped.

Last, we fixed a bug in how newly update profile pictures were processed. Another recent fix to allow for larger images to be uploaded for Recognitions broke this. (Where’d we leave that “cone of shame” lying around?) So we fixed both this time and verified we didn’t break anything else.

Have you ever seen something you should not see or miss something you should? Wonder why we call that button "the bagel"? Let us know about it or any other bugs at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.0.8 2019-08-27
We updated the signup process to simplify the experience. As engineers are wont to do, we over thought this when we redesigned it in the Spring. We’re not sure if we should tell ourselves to think less or not.

We also made a change to how the Broadcast and Survey notification tab is displayed. This means that when you read the last Broadcast or take the last Survey, the tab will go away. Before it would linger for up to a minute. We gave it a stern talking to about lingering. It should move along now.

We fixed some minor bugs and infrequent crashers and one major bug which prevented users from signing up if they tapped the email verification link on their iPhone which then launched Bonfyre to complete the login process. Except, it was not completing the login process AND it was also invalidating the email verification link. We pride ourselves on making Bonfyre fun. This was not fun. We are SOOOOO sorry. If you could not signup, install this update and then signup again. It should all work fine. If we could make our engineer come and do it for you, we would. But for now, he is stuck writing these release notes.

If you are super frustrated trying to do something in Bonfyre, or maybe just a little frustrated or see a bug, please let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!

At the school bus stop
children sullenly face it,
summer is over.

With the beginning of school soon, vacation season is at an end. This means we have an update for you!

In the old version, viewing multiple videos in a Bonfyre community could lead to a crash. This is not a good experience. We stopped that. It should be better now. Sorry!

Also, if you recognized a coworker and chose to use a screenshot from certain phones, the image would not appear in the recognition. We fixed that too. Sometimes, visuals tell a story so much better than our words ever could. (If only I could post a photo or video in lieu of these notes!)

In addition, we tweaked how Terms of Use and Privacy Policies are accessed in the app, added support for Scale type questions to Surveys and Quick Polls, and many other fixes—including some possible fixes for infrequent crashers.

Find any bugs in Bonfyre? Have any remembrances of that first day back at school? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!

Play Gloria!

Bonfyre proudly calls St. Louis our home and we've been super excited since last week when our hometown hockey team won their league championship. You could say we definitely do not have the blues...

To celebrate, we're releasing this update with an updated screen for creating your very own Bonfyre community dedicated to your favorite worst-to-first story, or what you would do with a certain cup shaped trophy if you had it for a day! (Or whatever you want to host a community for!)

We also updated the code that displays videos to use the latest and greatest framework, and it looks great for those celebration videos where your favorite hockey player is hoisting the cup from a balcony! #lgb

In other news, new users should be able to tap those email verify links and have them work in the app. This was an embarrassing bug we are glad is fixed. We are deeply sorry for your inconvenience. We've busted out the cone of shame.

In addition to these notable updates, we've made a number of minor fixes that will generally make your experience better.

Have any fun hockey championship videos you want to share? Maybe some way Bonfyre is making your work life more fun and engaging? Perhaps a bug where Bonfyre is letting you down? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!

Who'd have thought this 1980s pop remake of an Italian song would be considered a fitting song in the home of the iconic St. Louis blues?

Anyway, we don't want to be bearish for any visiting skaters coming here, but we can't help ourselves. While we're all getting hip to ‘80s pop remakes, we've also been busy fixing some inconvenient bugs. Even for our users in Boston!

We fixed a bug where typing in a single text survey answer would cause jumpiness while you typed. This was quite annoying. Now when you type, thesurvey stays as still as a frozen pond of water.

We fixed another bug where the app would get stuck in a state with a blue background and our gorgeous company logo. On the iPhone XS, it almost looked like a hockey rink! Alas, apps should never get stuck in this state. We fixed this. Now when you tap an email verification link and the app has been closed for a while, it will do the right thing and let you set up your account. You shoot! You score!

Lastly, we fixed a weird bug where if you tapped to react to a chat and then tapped quickly anywhere else on the screen the app would look like it relaunched. Pretty weird, right? Anyway, it doesn't do that anymore.

Have any fun ‘80s pop songs you like to sing? Especially those about bugs and oddities in Bonfyre? Maybe something that makes you go "a ha?” Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com

Winter has come and gone. Spring has been dreamt of. Summer has arrived. It is a time for bug fixes and app enhancements. What? Were you expecting a dire, wild canine reference? Not sure why. Anyway, the bells are ringing, let's get started…

We've been holed up in our castle defending against a siege of icy crashers that seemed simply unkillable. But in the end, we deftly wielded our trusty Xcode Instruments tools to leap and slay them. Are ya as excited to see this as we are?

After that, we quickly moved on to bringing laser like targeting for an animation glitch in our new sign-up process. We're excited to have removed this drag on our vision of the app.

Next up, we burned through some enhancements that we had been putting off for a bit. Look for a new shiny button if you type in a common consumer facing email host in the sign-in screen. We updated the verbiage in the email verification waiting screen to make it more clear that the user should check their email, we updated when the Survey and Broadcast notification button displays, and we fixed a bug where some privileged activities were displayed when they should not have been. It was nice to be able to focus on targeting these bugs which have stung us some in the past.

We're conferring amongst ourselves about the best way to proceed with our next release. Sadly, our favorite chair is missing. But we think we have a new favorite brand on our mind for the future. With summer here and our new chair (with wheels!) rolling around with our new boss looking for a winged bug, we're pondering what water sports and delicious food we want to experience on vacation and how to pay for it.

Have you experienced any icy crashers? Any scorching hot flying bugs? Planning any long cruises into the sunset or explorations in the far north? Maybe a peaceful staycation? Feeling sadness, anger, or happiness about your fave (or least fave) fantasy show ending? Tell us all about it at support@bonfyreapp.com!
5.0.3 2019-05-14
Being jumpy is great if you are patrolling the walls of your castle on the lookout for zombies or wights or whatevs. But your survey should not be jumpy while you are typing an answer to a question. This build fixes that.

Annnnd it fixes some crashes because your humble chronicler of amusing update notes made a logical error in rewriting some rock solid code written by the previous humble chronicler of amusing update notes. Guess who's humbler now?! BWAHAHAha...ha...wait a minute!

Anyhoo. Your experience should be less jumpy and less crashy.

Feeling a little jumpy? Have some thoughts on the end of your favorite supernatural fantasy show? Please share them with us at support@bonfyreapp.com!

In our last update, we shipped a major update to our signup process. It is really neat and works great...unless...you are a new user required to use single sign on.

This is embarrassing. But here we are. This is fixed. We also fixed a crashing bug that affects users on iOS 11 during the login process.

Having difficulty signing up with Bonfyre? Or logging in? Or see any other embarrassing bugs? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com.

They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

So if you are upgrading, know that we fixed the crash that happens when you search for and then join some existing Bonfyre communities. We also revamped some code related to account switching and how cached data is accessed. So some unexpected logouts and crashes should be eliminated.

If you are not upgrading...

"Launch of Bonfyre 5 in T-minus 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. We have ignition."

"Liftoff!"

"Houston, we have launched the new Bonfyre sign up and sign in experience!"

If you have any questions, feedback, or want to report any bugs, or just want to share you best recipe for green beans, please contact us at support@bonfyreapp.com.

Once upon a time, there was a fun little app that had some bugs. It had some layout bugs, some crasher bugs, and some updating bugs. This little app went looking for a nice developer to remove these bugs. It looked high. It looked low. And then, one day, the fun little app came across a nice developer.

“Pardon me, nice developer,” said the fun little app. “Can you help me?”

“Oh, hi there!” replied the nice developer. “I can see from here that your Surveys list screen is missing a constraint. Can I fix that for you?”

“Oh yes, you are a very nice developer!” the fun little app exclaimed.

And so the nice developer added the missing constraint. While testing out the Surveys constraint fix, the nice developer thought it would be neat if web links in Survey introductions, closings, and questions would open the in-app browser. The nice developer added that to the little app, making it even more fun. They also added it to Quick Poll questions too!

“You sure are a fun little app!” the nice developer said as they ruffled the app’s hair.

“Aw gosh, tha–“

The fun little app was cut off by a crash.

“Oh no, we can’t have that happening. That is not very fun.” the nice developer said. The nice developer opened Xcode, started debugging, found a cause for the crasher bug and removed it.

“Hi there! I’m a fun little app!” the fun little app said as it relaunched.

“I see that, I found the bug that caused you to crash before.”

“Oh, now I remember. Thanks again!” the fun little app beamed. “Can you do something else for me?”

“I don’t see why not, you’re as fun an app to work on as you are to use!”

“You’re embarrassing me! Don’t stop though.”

“Ha ha, sure! What can I do?”

“Some users don’t have much fun when they are busy and my in-app feedback prompt comes up. Can you make it easier to dismiss?”

“Sure,” the nice developer replied as they added swipe and pan gestures to the whole view, making it much easier for users to get back to work. While they were working, the nice developer rewrote the code to better handle deep links. especially for the new Surveys.

“Oh wow!” said the fun little app. “The users will be much happier when they don’t have time to give us feedback. And these Surveys deep links work now, too? Oh my gosh! I am super stoked!”

“While I was in there, I also fixed it so profile picture updates will be reflected in the Account tab more quickly if set somewhere else,” explained the nice developer. “I also fixed how chats with links to some websites were not being previewed properly. These websites used to be handled specially, but they’ve moved on, and now so must you. I removed special support for these websites and am letting your very neat Link Preview feature do the job now!”

“So you’re saying that some links I used to preview in a very special way broke, and now you fixed it so they at least preview like all other websites?” the fun little app asked.

“Exactly. I also noticed how your Terms of Service buttons were loading the Terms of Use so I changed them to read Terms of Use.”

“I cannot hide how excited I am! Thank you nice developer!”

“No worries! I had a ball chatting with my coworkers in Bonfyre, sharing photos and videos, and recognizing my teammates!”

“Y’know, we’re a fun little company!” the fun little app said. “You could come work for us all of the time!”

“I think I might just do that if someone else doesn’t get there first!”

Have you seen any bugs in this fun little app? Find anything you think our nice developers would love to work on? Are you a nice developer looking to work swift-ly on a fun little app for a fun little company in a fun little city? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
4.21.9 2019-02-02
Happy New Year!

We’ve been hard at work making Bonfyre better this winter!

In Surveys, we fixed a bug on iPhones with edge to edge screens so that when tapping the area below the “Let’s Go” button would take you to the first question, but not enable scrolling.

In Quick Polls, we fixed a bug where scrolling would be disabled on Short and Long Answer Quick Polls with long questions so that the question would not be readable. We simply are leaving scrolling enabled. Who knew enabling scrolling would be so hard?! We also fixed some of the messages when attempting a disallowed action when creating, editing, and cloning Quick Polls. We also fixed a situation where newly cloned Quick Polls would not show in the Quick Poll list. Lastly, for Quick Polls, we fixed a bug where choices Quick Polls could not be cloned.

We also fixed some random bugs:
- It is now easier to exit Bonfyre community searching.
- Vimeo video previews stopped working, so we use our new Link preview feature for them now.
- Choosing to update your profile image from LinkedIn was causing a crash. No more crashes here!
- In read-only communities, the chat bar would be partially visible on iPhones with edge to edge screens.
- We removed all code related to some very old features we no longer use.
- In some chat based screens, after some actions, the chat bar would be visible on iPhones with edge to edge screens.
- Changing a community image was failing every time. It now works every time.

Have you seen any bugs? Have any suggestions? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
4.21.8 2018-12-15
After spending weeks and weeks fixing bugs, we finally got a chance to add a couple of new features. Thanks boss!

We are proud to announce the introduction of Link Previews to Bonfyre! Now your chat feed will include nifty previews of links shared by your co-workers!

We also removed our out of date help screen and replaced it with a link to our support site which is full of great FAQs and Support Articles!

Of course, no release to Bonfyre would be complete without some bug fixes, enhancements, and crasher fixes! One crasher in particular is fixed. When visiting a Custom List with a description, the app will no longer crash. We are sorry about the inconvenience!

Have you seen any bugs? Have any suggestions? Let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!

Maybe we’re quiet
like leaves drifting softly down
but busy we’ve been!

Happy Autumn!

We’ve been a little busy this fall. Here is the list of fixes and changes in this release:

Fixed a bug in deleting all text from a Survey or Quick Poll text answer failed.
Fixed a layout bug in the Hashtag view of a community.
Fixed a display bug in how the “Content failed to load” screen was drawn.
Added helpful messages about the maximum length of short and long answer Quick Polls.
Fixed a layout bug on iPhones with edge to edge screens after posting Mystery Images.
Might have fixed a bug in the layout of the chat bar. (It is hard to tell, this is a sporadic and very difficult to reproduce bug!)
Fixed layout of Quick Polls with long questions.
Fixed a crash when viewing reactions including a user with no last name.
Fixed several layout issues when viewing communities and comments in landscape.
Fixed a bug that affects users restoring their iPhone from an iCloud backup with iCloud Keychain disabled during login. (This one was fun!)
Made some adjustments to how some startup code is structured.
Fixed a bug in the code to remind users to upgrade when a new version is available.
Fixed a bug where the Quick Poll question could be scrolled out of view and not be scrolled back into view.
Fixed way more typos than we care to admit. Mea culpa. (coneofshame)
Thanks to some In-App Feedback, we learned of a bug in the unhappy user prompt being for a happy user. This is fixed now. Thanks for the feedback!
Fixed a bug in the layout of the In-App Feedback view on smaller iPhones.
We updated all of our privacy permissions messages to use our consistent voice.
We fixed some oddities in the new user flow for Single-Sign-On controlled users.
We updated the text in the Delete Community flow.
We fixed settings saving message consistency.
We removed a lot of old code that is no longer being used.
We removed from the app any reference to previously used and no longer required privacy permissions.

Just a few things!

Did we miss anything? Have any suggestions? If so, let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
4.21.6 2018-10-04
Just a heads up! We'll be pointing this build at you and turning up the fixes to full blast.

We hope this fixes the crashes we cannot reproduce. But honestly, we're pretty much just throwing computer science at the wall to see what sticks.

Seriously, if Bonfyre is giving you lemons, make hey@bonfyreapp.com take back the lemons! Tell us about the lemons and we'll take them back and ship you a new Bonfyre with fewer lemons!
4.21.5 2018-09-29
We fixed one little thing that makes submitting a survey possible after you changed your mind to not complete the survey. The Submit button will now be tappable after this situation.

The fix for this was literally smaller than these release notes. This means something, we're not sure what. Regardless, it is fixed!

See anything inconvenient in Bonfyre? Have a suggestion to make something more convenient or just better? Let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com.
4.21.4 2018-09-26
Cool winds whistling,
Leaves of green fade to amber,
Bugs scurry away!

We fixed some minor bugs on the login process and in infinite scrolling in a Bonfyre community. The experiences in both of these places will be more natural.

And while technically not bugs, we did make some improvements to the Survey introduction view and the Welcome Message view.

If you've found some lingering bugs or think we can enhance our user experience some, let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com.
4.21.3 2018-09-24
Hey, while you are updating everything multiple times this month, why not update Bonfyre again too?

Hot off our last release we have more fixes for you!

This time we have two crasher fixes, some layout tweaks to even better support iPhone X and later, and restricted access to a feature for users who are controlled by a SSO provider since the feature would do nothing for them.

We also made some refinements to our Surveys user experience and added some help to keep from duplicate naming a company Bonfyre community.

Have issues with crashes, bugs, odd layouts or just want to send a shout our way? Hit us up at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
4.21.2 2018-09-19
Introducing Single Sign On for accounts linked to Identity Providers! So enterprisey!

But that’s not all!
As always, we also fix minor bugs and make small enhancements here and there in the app. So if you feel a little more delighted than usual, now you know why!

We also fixed the login password field where users would be prompted to use a strong password during login on the newest version of iOS.

Please let us know how we’re delighting you or not delighting you by dropping us a line at hey@bonfyreapp.com.
4.21.1 2018-08-11
Our last release was pretty solid. But no one is perfect, including this humble chronicler of release notes.

First, we fixed some issues with our new Surveys feature. We fixed how the app handles situations where a user might try to complete a Survey after declining, completing, or after the Survey was closed or cancelled. We fixed how the hovering “Next” button is laid out so it now hugs the top of any selected keyboard, even after changing keyboards. We also fixed how the button text for buttons displayed when swiping a Bonfyre Community or Direct Message in the lists to Archive, Mark as Read, etc.

Second, we fixed a bug that prevented company admins from adding new employees to a company via the invite screen.

Third, we removed the adding and displaying of Twitter and Facebook accounts in User Profiles.

Lastly, we fixed some occasional crashers and tidied some code. Who doesn’t like tidy code? We like tidy code!

Do you like tidy code? Are you bummed we pulled the Twitter and Facebook integration and want to see it come back? Have some other suggestions or feedback? Then let us know at support@bonfyreapp.com!
4.21.0 2018-07-26
For the last few months we’ve been working tirelessly to bring you THIS release. We’ve upgraded Quick Polls to support 2 new question types! You can now allow your respondents to write long text answers to questions and to select one or more options in a multiple choice Quick Poll. Pretty cool, huh? We think so.

We’re so excited, that we added support for taking multiple question Surveys!

Spring heat yields name only
Flowing relentlessly on
into Summer now

This is either an unexpected last release in the spring or an unexpected first release of the summer. In our hometown, it has been hot as summer already. Spring, Summer, whatevs!

Like the heat, this release is coming regardless of season. It contains bug fixes to the behavior of the persistent notification button, known internally as “the bagel.” It will now display appropriately after switching accounts, not disappear randomly, and will not display on the Add tab. We also fixed some bugs related to crashers.

If you find any bugs, or have suggestions, please share with us at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
4.20.6 2018-06-11
Well, after all that work over the last couple of months, there were bound to be some bugs. So with this release, likely the last this spring, we’ve got some fixes for you!

We fixed a bug where changing the notification frequency setting in the Account - Settings screen for a Bonfyre community would always fail. We fixed the recognition badges having black backgrounds. We fixed a bug on iPhone X when users are in read only Bonfyre communities where the bottom of the screen looked really weird. And we fixed a bug in sorting Quick Polls in the Quick Poll chooser screen.

We also fixed a few crashers. One was in how a push notification was being processed. Two was in how we were refreshing the list of Quick Polls available. And three was in how we display the data in a chat. All were super rare, but a crash is never fun!

We made a change to how the persistent Quick Poll and Broadcast notification button shows when navigating to the Account tab by hiding it. Now all of the UI will be available all of the time. Sorry!

Also, we removed the Employment setting from the user profile and moved Job Title to the header area of the profile. So people can still see what you do, but not who you do it for!

Lastly, we added an in-app feedback question that users might see as often as once a month. So you can give us a thumbs up or a thumbs down and a little more info if you like.

(Oh, and we replaced all instances of two spaces between sentences with a single space. Our editor will be pleased.)

If you have any feedback for us and can’t wait for the in-app feedback question to pop up, please share with us at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
4.20.5 2018-06-05
A lot of work went into this release. We wrote lots of new code, rewrote a lot of old code, and redesigned some interfaces. We had planning meetings and status meetings. We gnashed our teeth and worked some nights and weekends. We opened a lot of tickets, worked them all, closed them all. We worked with the quality assurance team for weeks.

In short, it has been a grueling Spring of 2018. After all that work we’re proud to announce:

We’ve rebranded Surveys as Quick Polls!

(crickets)

Okay, okay, it is a little more than that. We removed the need to find your way to a Bonfyre community to take a Quick Poll. Now you will receive a notification that can be tapped to open a survey anywhere in the app! And we added the ability for your company to send a Quick Poll that is not restricted to just one Bonfyre community.

So it *IS* a little more than rebranding to you, dear Bonfyre user.

And, speaking as the developer, there is so much more we made better, faster, and stronger! Of course, you won’t notice this unless we did something wrong.

If you notice something is wrong, or want to tell us about anything exciting in your life, please share with us at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
4.20.3 2018-05-31
In this release, we’ve improved the community invite workflows. A couple of releases ago we revamped this part of the app, but we had not thought things through as much as we could have. So we went back to the drawing board and cried a little bit. With that out of our system, we went to the white board (where we do our best work) and drew a very large flow chart plotting the courses of the stars across the skies and the winds across the seas!

As we stood there marveling at our masterpiece, a wandering designer guffawed at the wall of scribbles we had created. Sheepishly, we turned to her for help. Our intrepid designer undertook to get inside our heads to find out exactly what we were thinking and why this interpretive drawing of spaghetti existed. She plotted a sane course for all of our users from wanting to invite colleagues and friends to a Bonfyre community through to sending the invitations (or not sending them in a few cases). She filled in the gaps we missed, mocked the screens (even if she kindly did not mock our work), and turned out a masterpiece of sublime clarity. Despite sublime clarity, we bring you this release which is a vast improvement in how this part of our app works. We apologize for likely falling short of the dream.

We also fixed a couple or three other things. In the last release we made the unread bubbles easier to read by making them a little larger. This caused one of them to be clipped. We fixed this on the Menu button in the navigation bar. We also extended the allowed length of short answers to surveys from 140 to 16,000. So now you too can stretch your creative writing legs a little at work!

If you have a short story you’d like to share, whether it is about Bonfyre bugs or not, please share with us at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

Exterminators
Descend like thunder on bugs
in wintery Spring

We fixed a bunch of minor bugs and irritants. First, we made the font used in the unread badges on the tab bar bold and 20% larger. Second, we fixed a weird case where Bonfyre search results would be empty when they should be full. Third, we fixed the edit Bonfyre view when editing company Bonfyres that would sometimes give the user the opportunity to select a company for the Bonfyre. (The selection would be ignored, thankfully!) Fourth, we fixed the placeholder search box text color on themed Bonfyres to be the regular text color with a 40% transparency. So it is legible, but lighter than the regular text. Lastly, we fixed a weird case where the so-called in-app Toast notifications would continue to show after logging out.

We also implemented our EU GDRP compliance in this build, more than a month early! If you’ve ever wanted to read our Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, you can now find them by navigating to the Account tab and selecting Settings. New users will have to agree to the Terms of Service prior to accessing their account.

We’ve never been to Europe. But some of our co-workers have been and seemed to have a good time. We’re looking forward to going someday and sharing our photos, videos and fun anecdotes on Bonfyre!

Have any fun European anecdotes you’d like to share? Or any bugs or feature requests? Let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

Greetings faithful update notes reader!

If you will recall from our last release, we mentioned that we were not quite done with Bonfyre Community and Direct Message search. Well it is complete now.

But that is not all, we also fixed a bug where if you tapped just fast enough, you could create two communities with the same name. Just say no to duplicates!

Next up, we fixed how our app handles audio tracks on screen recordings with audio in iOS 11. These videos can now be uploaded (including the audio) into a Bonfyre Community! Share away!

Our last notable update in this release is to fix the invitations drawer animations. Now the drawer opens and closes smoothly. Smooth.

In addition to these, we fixed some smaller bugs and made some small enhancements.

Have any great screen recordings you want to share or any bugs to report? Let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

So, remember last release when we said we were busy working on this release. Well, here it is!

We updated the work flow for creating a community with an integrated photo tool! So your Bonfyre community can have a stylin’ icon from the git go!

At the same time, we freshened up work flow for inviting your friends and made the link to share an invite easier to access.

But that is not all.
March winds and April showers,
Inspire a fresh start!

That’s right, it’s spring cleanin’ time! We took a deep dive into the code and found some old stuff that was sitting around doing nothing, so out it went! And whilst we were elbowing our way around the project, we did some reorganizing. What does this mean to you? Hopefully faster and more stable updates!

Lastly, we re-engineered Bonfyre community and Direct Message search. This is an incomplete effort. But the work that is done will allow us to finish it up pretty quickly!

Have any before and after spring cleaning photos? Share them and any suggestions of bugs you’ve found with us at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

So, we’ve been busy working on the next release. Not this release. The next one. But somewhere along the way, we did some work that we wanted to share before the next release. This is that release.

In this release (also known as THAT release), we’ve added limited support for deep linking. This is like deep sea diving, but without sharks and krakens. Some URLs in our web app will now open in the app, which is kinda spiffy.

We also are adding support for Mobile Device Management. This first baby step will allow an MDM managed device to allow or disallow logging in. Pretty neato!

At the last second, we caught and fixed a bug where some videos would not play. Phew!

Lastly, we fixed a couple of minor bugs, one a typo and the other a scrolling bug.

Got any great deep sea diving advice or experiences you’d like to share? Found any bugs or suggestions for us? Let us know about it or any bugs at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

Way back in the day, there was a fun song about squares being hip.

It is 2018, being square is thinking outside of the box. Square not only means having square angles and equidistant sides, it also means JUST having those sweet, sweet square angles. Today, Bonfyre is breaking out of that far too confining square definition of old and supporting wide and tall squares (colloquially known as rectangles).

Being square has never been so hip!

What is even more hip is you can now record or upload videos up to 3 minutes long in either our wide square (what the kids these days call landscape) or narrow square (what the kids call portrait) aspect ratios. And at the risk of blowing out our hip, we added hip new landscape support for recording videos!

You know what else is hip? Not crashing! We fixed two crashing bugs in this release in the Account screen, which affected a small number of users with empty Company titles and Persona accounts without associated email addresses.

Whether you like to rock your pelvis, not lie with your hips, or just want to have some fun, post some fun videos and share your faves with us! If you find any other bugs or want to share those hip new videos, let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

Dangling fruit hung low.
A favorite winter treat
of developers.

Last release, we fixed 11 bugs. That was a pretty solid number. But we can do better. This release, we’re fixing 17!

We fixed some bugs related to @mentions, some related to layouts bouncing, some related to animations, and we updated our Frequently Asked Questions. That last one will need to be updated again soon, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves!

At this rate, we’re gonna run out of bugs!

Please help us find more bugs to fix! If you find any other bugs, let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

Happy New Year!

Frigid winds carry us
Forward into a new year
Let us fix some bugs!

For all of us, we fixed a very troublesome bug where in-app notifications would cause the keyboard to dismiss. We completely rewrote the notifications and gave them a minor design refresh too! At the same time, our new sparkly Welcome Back Banner will now appear more appropriately than every time you opened the app. We *ARE* happy to see you back every time you open the app, but it was getting a little ridiculous!

We also fixed a bug that made the tappable area for the back button on all screens half the size it should have been.

For those of you missing the ability to add photos and videos to your Photos library, we re-added this to our chat menu. Speaking of our chat menu, did you know that the icon for our chat menu is called the kebab? Kebabs are delicious! A kebab is the icon with three dots in a vertical line. You’ll find one on each chat. Tap it to see what you can do with that chat. We use it in one other place in the app too, can you find it?

We refreshed the login and signup experience. We made it easier to reset your password and added a touch of color. And we sadly removed the sunset Bonfyre video.

For our premium admins, we fixed a bug where the app would crash when switching accounts. This one was squirrely to track down and required a great team effort! Go team!

For our other premium users, we fixed a bug where the keyboard would not go away when you tapped to view a Broadcast message.

If you find the other kebab menu, have any delicious kebab recipes you’d like to share or any other bugs, let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

Perfection burden
suffered not by our last build
Enjoy fewer bugs!

Well, our last release went pretty well, but not without some hiccoughs (hiccups?, hick ups?). So here are some fixes for you!

For our premium users, the Announcements button will now show up in the menu again! We apologize for this inconvenience!

For all users in Bonfyres allowing sharing, we fixed a bug that broke external sharing. Share away!

For all users who do searches in Direct Messages, we fixed a bug that crashes the app after cancelling the search. Search and cancel away!

We also fixed some less than ideal code to be more ideal than before. Prolly not ideal yet, but we're working on it! :-)

If you have any fun haiku or things you'd like to see more ideal, let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

In the spirit of doubling the size of social media posts, we thought we’d also double the size of our chats. But alas, no one has yet to hit our limit, so we went looking for something else to double and we settled on, wait for it…

30 SECOND VIDEOS! You can now use vowels in your words!

We also made some internal changes we really really hope you’ll never notice. Really, these are just bug fixes. Pretty boring really.

We don’t like boring. We like fun! So we completely redesigned how reactions work. Now there is a whole new popup to select your reaction and to see how others have reacted to your chats! I give this a :-) out of 9!

So hit that update button, open up Bonfyre and post a 30 second video of something fun to your favorite Bonfyres! And throw some smiley, frowny and guffaw reactions around for good measure!

Any part of Bonfyre less fun than before or found a bug? Let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!

heaving swells approach
arrives the first autumn wave
layout fix of four

Happy Autumn!

We are sure there will be more waves of layout fixes and other tweaks coming as we discover new and exciting ways the new iOS release is challenging our app!

In this wave, we have four fixes of note:

The first is actually a fix for iOS 10 users to allow the viewing of photos without a translucent overlay and with the caption and everything else in the correct places! And the second is an interesting situation where the Activity Feed filter list would have hundreds of duplicate rows, it should now only show one row for each filter option.

The next two are only germane to our premium clients: the labels on the pins on the globe are now positioned correctly and legible. And last, but not least, the Announcements view can be scrolled to show all announcements completely. Also, as a bonus for our globe spinning clients a rare crasher was fixed.

Hang ten and be careful out there! If you have any surfing tips or see some gnarly layout problems, let us know at hey@bonfyreapp.com!
