About Patient Companion
Appropriate rehabilitation has been proven to reduce recovery time and improve long-term outcomes post injury. The patient companion app is designed to aid you in your rehabilitation and self management following attendance at the Emergency Department.
The information within the app is written by doctors working in the Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital who deal with these issues on a daily basis with assistance from patients suffering from these conditions.
In the app you will find rehabilitation advice on:
• Soft tissue ankle injury
• Cellulitis
• Shoulder injury
• Head injury
• Neck sprain (or whiplash injury)
Features
The app will provide:
• Simple advice about your injury/illness
• Self-care advice to help aid your recovery and prevent further damage
• Videos of suggested exercises to help your rehabilitation
• Links to resources with further information
• Self-assessment questions in order to track your progress
Important Information:
The app does not provide medical diagnoses and should not replace the advice of a health care professional. If your injury/illness is not improving at the rate you expect or in fact getting worse despite following the information in this app you should contact your GP or you may benefit from making an appointment with a physiotherapist. If you have any concerns or questions regarding any medical issues you should seek further review from a health care professional.
