The National Wildlife Federation Garden Guide apps bring gardening expertise into the 21st century for a new generation of gardeners looking to create beautiful landscapes, nourish themselves and their families, support pollinators and other wildlife, and to connect to nature through the garden.

These guides provide comprehensive horticultural information for the home gardener, with visual encyclopedias, plant and care guides, landscaping ideas and projects, garden plans, and calendars. Each guide includes hundreds of stunning, full-color photographs and easy-to-use, practical, environmentally-friendly advice to help you create a beautiful and productive garden.

Herbs

Learn to grow herbs for their culinary, therapeutic or ornamental qualities. This guide explains how to grow more than 350 herbs in your garden, with almost 3,000 photographs and information about their common and historical uses.

Utilizing the latest iOS technologies, you can:


• Search by name (common and scientific) using either keyboard or verbal search systems; type or speak all or part of an herb’s name to search for its detailed account.
• Organize species alphabetically or taxonomically.
• Search by herbal uses, annual/perennial, hardiness, height, sun/shade requirements, soil type, growing zone—or any combination.
• Touch to open any or all of the text sections, and to enlarge photos.
• Take notes and upload photos to keep a digital journal of your garden and share it with family, friends, and our growing online community.


Each species account contains:

• the plant’s vital characteristics, appearance, and growing habits
• an explanation of how to grow in your garden
• modern and historical uses, including which parts of the plant are useful
• Genus and Family information
• links to additional information for every plant
