Discover the amazing and unexpected world of clouds with Cloud-a-Day, your pocket guide to the wonders of the sky.
With stunning photographs and enlightening descriptions, Cloud-a-Day will teach you to identify 40 different cloud formations and 18 optical effects caused by clouds. From the common Cumulus cloud or rainbow to the rare and fleeting fluctus cloud or circumhorizon arc, you will learn what makes each formation special, and how to identify the many beautiful light phenomena of the atmosphere.
Start building up your cloud collection by snapping photos of your own spottings to save them in the app. In a future app update, you will be able to earn stars and achievement and see pictures from other cloudspotters around the globe!
Don’t know what cloud or optical effect you are spotting? Use our Cloud Identifier tools to find out. The amazing CloudSpotter AI will analyse your photo to say what it thinks you’ve photographed. Answering questions about your sky in our Step-by-step Wizard will point you in the direction of the most likely formations. Become an expert cloudspotter has never been easier!
And if you’re a subscribing member of the Cloud Appreciation Society you will be able to log in to access your Cloud-a-Day emails. These feature photographs by Cloud Appreciation Society members of amazing formations around the world, short pieces of cloud science, inspiring sky quotations, and details of the sky in art.

Try out our new and improved automatic CloudSpotter AI identification! It can now recognize the more rare and unusual cloud formations as well as many of the optical effects produced by clouds. Is that a lenticularis cloud or an undulatus? A lacunosus or radiatus? Snap a photo and let the artificial intelligence tool tell you what you’ve spotted. This update also includes various bug fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements.

We have fixed the auto-refresh of the Cloud-a-Day timeline. Drag and release to refresh it manually after which it will automatically fetch the latest clouds.
