Moderne Stromzähler erfordern die Eingabe einer PIN mit Hilfe einer Taschenlampe. Man muss dazu in einer Art Morsecode die verschiedenen Ziffern in Form von Blinksignalen eingeben. Einmal Blinken entspricht einer Eins, zweimal Blinken einer Zwei, usw. Das kann sehr mühsam und zeitaufwendig werden. Außerdem passiert bei dieser Form der Eingabe schnell Fehler, da es auf das richtige Timing ankommt.

FlashMyPin ist die Lösung: Anstatt einzelne Blinksignale von Hand mit der Taschenlampe einzugeben, muss man nur seine PIN eintippen und das Blitzlicht der Handykamera blinkt im richtigen Muster. Man muss nur noch das Handy vor den Lichtsensor seines Smart-Meters halten und die PIN wird im Handumdrehen eingegeben.
