El Maratón Internacional Tangamanga tuvo su génesis en el año de 1983 celebrándose en la ciudad de San Luis Potosí hace 30 años, hoy es uno de los mas antiguos de nuestro país, siendo el Estado pionero en celebrar este tipo de pruebas debido al auge del “running” a nivel mundial, cabe mencionar que el maratón mas antiguo del mundo es el Maratón de Boston el cual realizó su primera edición en 1897, por lo que es evidente que el running llegó a México muchos años después, tal es el caso que en San Luis Potosí se realiza su primera edición.
