Hello Weather: Forecast & Maps Description
Hi, we're Jonas and Trevor, the crew behind Hello Weather. There are a million weather apps out there, and they're all overloaded with ugly ads, confusing interfaces, and stupid gimmicks. We think that stinks, so we made the antidote—a straightforward, no-nonsense app that’s a joy to use.

Five reasons why you’ll love planning your day with Hello Weather...

1. All the info you need is right in your face.
Our gorgeous, information-rich design shows you everything that matters in one simple screen. You’ll see the current conditions and future forecast in an instant.

2. You won’t waste time looking at useless stuff.
Hello Weather intelligently adapts to changing conditions. When it's stormy, you’ll see all the relevant details right upfront. When conditions improve, it’s all tucked neatly out of the way again.

3. You’ll get predictions you can trust.
Hello Weather is more than a pretty face. It’s powered by the world’s best data sources, like Apple Weather, AccuWeather, Foreca, The Weather Company, and Tomorrow.io. Pick the provider that's best in your area, or switch back and forth to compare. (Upgrade required.)

4. You don’t need to be a weather expert.
What does barometric pressure mean? Is the dewpoint good or bad? We translated those esoteric stats into human words, so you’ll know how it really feels outside.

5. It’ll make you smile.
We filled the app with tons of thoughtful little touches to brighten your day. You’ll love the beautiful color themes, automatic night mode, and sweet secret extras.

And that's not all…

• Radar’s built right in.
When the storm's a-brewin', we've got your back! Our powerful radar tab shows you exactly what's headed your way.

• The finest weather widgets on Earth.
Our main app is only the tip of the iceberg—we’ve got excellent customizable Home Screen widgets for quick access to all the forecast info you need.

• An excellent Apple Watch app too!
The same great Hello Weather, but teensy enough for your wrist.

• Made with care by a tiny indie company.
We pour a lot of love into our app, and we take great care of our customers. We're always just an email or tweet away.

Here's what the experts say:

"An easy, straightforward weather app that shows you just what you need to know."
— AppAdvice

"Hello Weather strips it down to the essence."
— Macworld

"Very smart, with a clean layout and readable graphs. It eschews complexity without limiting information."
— TechRadar

"Well designed and clearly made with love, with lots of delightful little details throughout.
— Tools and Toys"

Just a quick fix for our previous Air Quality map release.
3.13.2 2023-09-06
Oh hello! Here's a lil update while we're finishing up some bigger updates:

AIR QUALITY MAPS IN RADAR

Hop on over to your radar layers and flip on the Air Quality option, to see the readings in your area and beyond.

And just as a reminder, if you use certain forecast data sources (like AccuWeather) you'll get air quality readings in the forecast too.
3.13.1 2023-04-20
Fixed a few small bugs we missed in our last update. Also gave the stink eye to our quality assurance department.
3.13 2023-04-18
Hello friends! We're back with a quick update due to the sunsetting of our old friend and OG data provider, Dark Sky. Pour one out for those weather legends.

In this release we've removed Dark Sky as an option, and switched to Apple Weather as our default source.

But since we're not happy with just taking something away, we decided to add FOUR new data providers. You can now choose between Custom Weather, Pirate Weather, Visual Crossing, and Weatherbit — in addition to all of our other great sources. (Note you'll need to upgrade to switch between providers.)

Let us know how you like these new options!
3.12.1 2022-10-07
A couple of quick bug fixes! Now there's a 95% chance of a less buggy Hello Weather.
3.12 2022-09-10
Oh hi friends! Hope you're doing well out there.

In this update we've added some sweet Lock Screen widgets for Hello Weathering at a quick glance. Now you can add the current temperature, current conditions, or hourly forecast right on your Lock Screen.

To turn these on, just long press on your Lock Screen and tap Customize, then choose Hello Weather in the list of widgets.

Go forth and get your widge on! And thanks so much for using Hello Weather.
3.11.12 2022-08-10
A couple of quick bug fixes:
• Fixed some issues with the radar loading indicator.
• Fixed that Apple Weather was mislabeled in Settings.

Thanks for reporting these!
3.11.11 2022-08-01
OH HELLO THERE! It's been a minute! We've been busy working on an all new Hello Weather, but in the meantime, here's a quick update:

• Added Apple Weather and OpenWeather forecast data sources.
• Removed Skywise Radar because it's no longer being supported. We're now using AerisWeather Radar for everyone (this is a good thing, it's excellent!)

Hope you enjoy the new forecasts! We'll be back again soon with some big stuff.
3.11.10 2022-01-12
Quick lil fix for a lil status bar bug!
3.11.9 2022-01-10
Hey everybody, happy 2022! We patched up a couple of annoying bugs:

1) Light mode to dark mode transitions should be improved...again!
2) A location-related bug on the Apple Watch is fixed now.

We'll be back again later with some new goodies for you. Cheers :D
3.11.7 2021-08-20
Fixed one more theme bug we missed!
3.9 2020-12-11
Back again with another new data source!

This time we've added Foreca, an excellent global forecast provider that's based in Europe. A great option for international folks! Just hop over to the Forecast Data option in Settings, and select Foreca to give it a try. (Upgrade required.)
3.8.1 2020-12-06
MORE RADAR!

In this release we've added a second radar provider—AerisWeather. Aeris has global precipitation coverage, future radar animations, lightning, and fire info. It's an excellent complement to our original radar, and now you can switch back and forth between the two during severe weather times. Head on over to Radar Options and switch to AerisWeather to check it out (note, you'll need to upgrade to access the radar options.)

Other great improvements in this version:

1) We removed the "Upgrade" nag on our widgets in the free version. Widgets are extremely expensive for us to operate, which is why we added this in the first place! But we heard a lot of feedback that it's too obnoxious, so decided to dial it back instead. Thanks for the feedback everyone (but that said, if you love the widgets, please do upgrade :)

2) We improved widget stability in a bunch of places, so your widgets should be widging more reliably now.

3) We turned on Family Sharing for our subscriptions, now that Apple supports it! Go forth and share the upgraded Hello Weather love with your whole family.

4) Loads of other smaller tuneups and improvements.

Thanks for your continued support, and hope you enjoy the updates! Stay safe out there + xoxo
3.8 2020-10-30
GET YOUR WIDGE ON! CUSTOMIZABLE WIDGETS ARE HERE!

In our last release, we added some great home screen widgets, but we're not done with them yet, no siree Bob! In this update you can choose from a range of lovely colors that suit your home screen best. You can also turn on an extra data point like Wind, UV, Air Quality, Precip %, or Auto if you want the widget to decide for you.

To choose the custom options, press down on a Hello Weather widget, then pick "Edit Widget" in the menu that appears. If you have more than one widget on your home screen, you can select different options for each one.

PLEASE NOTE: if you had installed home screen widgets in our previous release, YOU MUST RESTART YOUR PHONE to get them to update to the new version. This is a current OS limitation and we're sorry about it! It'll only ever happen this one time.

Go forth and widge it up! And please let us know your fave color combos. We like Cosmic and Lake Monster :D
3.7.9 2020-10-09
Another quickfix to quickly fix our previous quickfix! Hopefully this is the last quickfix we'll need to fix quick.
3.7.7 2020-10-03
Just a quick bug fix release to patch up a couple of issues with our new widgets. More on the way soon!

Thanks for all the support and sweet messages so far, we appreciate it :)
3.7.6 2020-10-01
WIDGETS WIDGETS HELLO WIDGETS

We're back with some sweet new widgets for your home screen. Choose from the small, medium, or large sizes and see our same great design, including real-time precip info (when available), weather alerts, light and dark mode, and a 3-day forecast in the large widget.

And we're just getting started! We'll have more widgets and options in a future update.

Since it's been a minute, we also added more good stuff:
• Added a new purple theme for one of our wonderful customers who really likes purple.
• Added a new Weather Machine mode that shows performance and debugging stats for the app, widgets, and Watch complications. (You should generally leave this off unless you're helping us debug something for support, but you can find it in the Units section in Settings.)
• Updated the settings for dark mode and switched the default to "Match System." We recommend switching to this setting if you use the automatic light/dark themes on your device.

Also, bug fixes!
• Picked a few more nits with the new ClimaCell source.
• Added visibility info for AerisWeather.
• Did a bunch of work to improve Watch complication stability. This has been a huge thorn in our side for ages, and we think it's better now.

That's it for now, see you again in a bit :D
3.7.5 2020-07-10
Quick update to fix a few issues with our new ClimaCell source:

• Fixed the wrong label being shown in the Settings screen when ClimaCell was selected.
• Fixed a glitch with the Today widget during the day. It was caused by missing UV index info that isn't supported by ClimaCell yet, so for now just switch to another source for all your suntanning needs.
• Fixed some buggery with pollen on the Apple Watch, so you Watch folks may now resume your well-informed sneezing.
• Fixed showing the correct barometric pressure values. Now it's back to pushing down on me, pushing down on you, people on streets, etc

Thanks for bearing with us through those bugs, things should be sailing smoother from here on out!
3.7.4 2020-07-07
Hey everyone, we're back! It's been a little chaotic here at Hello Weather HQ in the past few months, but we've gotten all of that sorted, and finally have some sweet updates queued up for you.

This time around, we added a new weather source: ClimaCell. ClimaCell is a great replacement for Dark Sky, because it has similar hyperlocal real-time precipitation info, with even better coverage—it works anywhere in the world! So international pals, you're going to dig this one. It also includes Air Quality and Pollen info. Check the sources screen for all the details.

We'll probably continue adding more sources and moving things around, since our various weather providers keep changing on us, or getting acquired, or modifying their terms of service in weird ways. But not to worry, there's plenty more where these came from :)

Hope you're all staying healthy and safe. TTYL!
3.7.3 2020-04-07
Small tweak! Fixed a crash that (rarely) happened when upgrading.
3.7.2 2020-04-05
Bug fix time:
• Patched up widget size issues on teensy phones (we see ya, iPhone SE fans <3)
• Fixed up some display weirdness for hourly precipitation and metric units.
• Fixed a couple rare crashes.
• Renamed "topographic" maps to "satellite" in Radar Options. Also enrolled in a cartography course so we learn to use the right words.

Hope this makes your weathering a little smoother. After this, we'll be hard at work figuring out a few new data sources. bbiab!
3.7.1 2020-03-11
Quick fix for a bug with upgrading. Keep calm and upgrade on! <3
3.6.5 2019-12-10
Tuned up a couple of things for Apple Watch complications. Why'd we have to go and make things so complicated!? :D
3.6.4 2019-11-25
Hello! We're back with a big pile of minor improvements before we add some major ones :D

Watch fixes:
• Made the Apple Watch complications look nicer if you download the app from the Watch App Store.
• Shortened location names down to the bare minimum so they get truncated less frequently.
• Fixed an issue on larger watches where the last temperature in the hourly chart wasn't showing.
• Reduced data usage for complications (they still show the same stuff at the same intervals, they just won't cause as many requests for data.)

Main app fixes:
• Fixed that the pull-to-refresh behavior would occasionally get stuck.
• Improved some scenarios where the humidity meter would erroneously say "Feels dry" when it's actively raining and does not feel dry at all!
• Tweaked how we display precipitation intensity when it's sleeting.
• Improved precipitation probability logic so it's a bit more accurate.
• Fixed an occasional crash on the Fan Club upgrade screen.
• Added some smarts to how we request forecasts, so we can speed up the load times a bit more.
• Added a button for some background info about the app and the people who make it.

Hope this makes your Hello Weathering a little better. Cheers y'all <3
3.6.3 2019-10-18
More bug smashing! Fixed the following:

• Watch complications will now update more frequently.
• Searching for a location by zip code won't leave a stray comma floating around.
• Snow forecast text is now the correct color in the Today widget.
• 24-hour time won't appear truncated on small watches.
3.6.2 2019-10-08
MEGA BUG FIX RELEASE! We're on a mission to unbug all the bugs.

1) We completely rewrote our Watch synchronization code, in order to make everything more reliable and robust. Now your watch and phone should stay in cahoots most of the time. And if they get out of sync, the manual sync button will work much better!

2) Now you can force touch the Hello Weather app on the Watch to get a new "Refresh" button. That will instantly reload the weather forecast and try to sync any settings that have changed on your phone.

3) Hopefully fixed a bug where the app would unnecessarily trigger iOS to prompt for your App Store login, if you've been a subscriber for more than a year. (Thank you for your support, long time subscribers!)

4) Fixed a display issue with large text sizes on the Settings screen.

5) Fixed some other crashy bits.

As long as all of this stuff is finally working well, we'll be back on building new features soon. Thanks for your patience!
3.6.1 2019-09-25
Bug fix time! We resolved a couple of crashes and issues, plus:

• Manual dark mode on/off now works correctly
• We switched to a new locations search system (we used to use Google Places for this, now we're using built-in map tech)

Hope that helps make your weathering a little smoother and faster. More fixes coming soon!
3.6 2019-09-18
Hello Darkness! We made a whole big bunch of changes to support iOS 13's new dark mode (and other cool stuff!)

Here's what's new:
• Hello Weather will match your device's dark mode if you want it to (otherwise, it will work the same as it always did.) Go to Settings > Dark Mode > Match iOS Appearance to make that work.
• The Today widget supports dark mode too. And it's sized properly for the new layout on iPads!
• Locations and Settings screens are updated for the new iOS 13 style and gestures.
• It's now possible to install the Apple Watch app directly from the Watch App Store.
• Approximately one million bugs have been fixed.

We've also been hard at work on other NEW features. Keep an eye out for those coming in a later release!
3.5.8 2019-08-20
A wee quick fix!

Fixed an Apple Watch glitch that would momentarily show a forecast for Sweet Home Chicago instead of the correct location.
3.5.7 2019-08-08
We've been watching the Watch and definitively decided that complications are complicated.

In this release we've improved a longstanding annoyance where the complications wouldn't update reliably when set to your current location. Hopefully it should work better and require less shooing of gremlins!
3.5.6 2019-07-12
The bugs we hate
Were looking pretty grim
Our fix was deformed
So we sadly didn't win
Nothing's on fire
But we had some more chores
Hopefully it's fixed for now and evermore

HEY NOW
(we fixed bugs again)
3.5.5 2019-07-11
Well,
The bugs start coming and they don't stop coming
Read the reviews and we checked the code running
Didn't make sense why the code won't run
Our brains are smart but programming is dumb
So much to do, so endlessly
So what's wrong with making a hack? Sheesh
We're hoping that our fix won't blow
So you'll never see the app being slow

HEY NOW

(we fixed some bugs)
3.5.4 2019-06-26
Added a free trial option for folks who haven't upgraded their Hello Weather yet. (We don't want to charge you unless you're happy, so now you can try all of our sweet upgrades for a few days before you buy!)

Also a few more stability improvements and bug fixes:
• Fixed more Watch crashes and sped things up!
• Fixed a rare scenario where the Watch app would get stuck on launch.
• Added a URL scheme for compatibility with apps like Launch Center Pro.
3.5.3 2019-06-20
Ever more fixing of bugs!

• Improved Apple Watch stability and fixed some crashes.
• Fixed that the Today widget didn't respect the authoritay of custom theme colors.
• Made the Locations and Settings screens a bit visually nicer.

Unfortunately we still haven't been able to fix the bugs in the actual weather, but we've been scolding the weather machine and it seems to be listening?
3.5.2 2019-05-27
More bug fixin'! Smushed a few more Watch related buggos, and fixed up more complications. It's complicated!
3.5.1 2019-05-23
Bug fix time! We optimized and fixed a few issues with the new Apple Watch app. A couple other small things you'll notice:

• There's a new Synchronize button in the Apple Watch section of the Settings tab. If you're having any issues with seeing stale or incorrect info on your watch, tap that button and it'll clear things up!

• If you use the small complication on the Modular watch face, you'll notice we removed the ring around the temperature. (It turned out to be confusing and not that helpful!) We also fixed that complication to accurately reflect the current theme color.

Keep those bug reports coming, and we'll keep fixing 'em! Thanks y'all.
3.5 2019-05-11
*** OMG APPLE WATCH APP OMG ***

At long last, Hello Weather for the Apple Watch is finally here! It’s the same great app with the same excellent forecasts, but just teensy enough to fit on your wrist. Complications, too!

Oh and that’s not all. We also have an ALL NEW WIDGET (!) with an hourly display, AND more home screen icons, AND even more cool stuff. Go forth and enjoy!

<3,
Your friends at Hello Weather

• New icons for weather data sources and units settings.
• Various other bug fixes and iOS 12 compatibility updates.

Thanks for using Hello Weather! Be on the lookout for some mega updates, some time soon :D
3.4 2018-08-18
== Vastly Improved Radar Edition (3.4) ==
Oh hey there! We've been keeping busy this summer, drinking mojitos, and making a SUPER GOOD RADAR for you all. Here's the scoop…

• International Support: This is big! All of you in the UK, Europe, and Japan now get precipitation radar, just like our friends in the US, Canada, and Australia.

• Tons of Map Layers: Along with precipitation info, we now have map layers for cloud cover, temperatures, wind, dewpoint, watches & warnings, and tropical storm tracks. Ooo wee!

• Better Quality: Our old radar was — uh — kinda fuzzy. The new one is lovely and high res. You'll zoom in on rain storms because it looks so nice now.

• Customization: We've got lots of options for tweaking little details, like zoom level, map styles, and animations. Tweeeeeeeak!

There are a few other small touches we think you'll enjoy—let us know if you do! And as always, thanks so much for supporting Hello Weather. Keep an eye out for more great updates coming soon.

(P.S. all radar features are available to Fan Club members only. Upgrade now for just $4.99/year!)
3.3.2 2018-05-29

We swatted a few scoundrels who slipped past our defenses!

Thank ye for using Hello Weather! Ye're the best! <3
3.2 2018-04-21
== Hello Weather 3.2: The Way Better Forecasts Edition ==

Hey everyone, we're back with a bunch of great new updates! Here's what's new:

• Better icons for weather conditions.
We designed a much wider range of icons that show a lot more detail, and they’re themed for day and night. They're awesome. Now you'll also see icons in the hourly forecast, and sunrise/sunset times too. Finally!

• Extra Wind Speeds mode.
Some folks really need to know about wind—sailors, pilots, bikers, mountain climbers, kite flyers, people peeing outside, etc. If that sounds like you, you’ll like this new wind option! Just head over to the Settings screen and pick Weather Units, then flip on wind mode. You'll be all set to pee freely.

• Smarter daily forecasts, and a new look ahead for tomorrow’s weather.
Daily forecasts are now sliced into blocks of time. As the day goes on, you’ll see the app automatically transition through morning, afternoon, evening, and tonight/tomorrow. That way you can always know what’s happening in the next meaningful moment.

• Dates in the weekly forecast.
This is a small but helpful thing — we added the date (number) below each day in the weekly forecast. Much better for event planning when you don’t have a calendar handy.

• Rain and snow accumulation estimates.
We just made it through a snowy Chicago winter, and we noticed that we didn’t have as much info about accumulation totals as we’d like. So we added a lot of tricky math and text parsing to make sure we always show accumulation estimates for rain and snow (whenever there’s enough precipitation to warrant seeing them.)

• Even more stuff.
We fixed bugs, tweaked tons of little things, and added a full-black Home Screen icon for all of you iPhone X pals with pure black backgrounds.

We hope you dig it!
3.1.2 2018-01-12
More little bug fixes while we continue making cool new stuff for you! Also, it's way too cold outside. On behalf of the weather, we apologize for all the inconvenience.
3.1.1 2017-12-21
Fixed a bug with reordering locations. Go forth and sort your places!
3.1 2017-12-14
Good day old bean! We spiffed up a few things to improve your Hello Weathering.

• New Swipe Gestures
It’s much easier to close the Locations or Settings screens now—just swipe down or from the left, and they’ll be gone in a flash.

• Pure Black Night Mode (Fan Club)
This one’s for all you iPhone X fans! Switch on Pure Black mode for super maximum OLED darkness at night.

• Fast Data Source Button (Fan Club)
At the bottom of the Forecast view, you’ll see a new Source button. Tap it to quickly change data sources and compare forecasts.

As always, thanks for all the support and sweet reviews + comments! You're the best. <3
3.0.4 2017-12-07
Squashed a few bugs for iOS 11.2. More new stuff coming soon!
3.0.3 2017-11-15
Squished more bugs:
• Fixed some occasionally funky states when loading a forecast.
• Cleaned up payment-related bustedness and wrote better error messages.
• Promoted all weather data sources as real options (no more "experimental".)
• Various other tidying of messes.
3.0.2 2017-11-06
Fixed joining the Fan Club (we think!) Thanks for your patience and sorry for the wait!
3.0.1 2017-11-04
Here's a bunch of blazing hotfixes after our mega 3.0 pre-release!

* Fixed that iPads would sometimes hang on initial run.
* Fixed the location size when changing from landscape to portrait (or vice versa) on iPads.
* Nicer text coloring in Settings.
* Better night mode support in several spots.
* Added debug stuff so we can make fan club upgrades work (SOON WE HOPE! Thanks for your patience! :)
3.0 2017-11-03
OOO WEE! WE'RE BACK WITH OUR BEST UPDATE EVER! WE IMPROVED EVERYTHING!

* Super Mega Ultra Redesign
We made the app better in every way: bigger type and icons, bolder colors, and faster navigation. It looks like HOT SAUCE with iOS 11 and iPhone X.

* Radar! (Fan Club only)
At long last, we added a super sweet radar view so you can see rain or snow coming your way.

* More Data Sources (Fan Club only)
We’ve been fiddling with additional data sources, like Aeris, AccuWeather, and The Weather Channel. Now you can try them too.

* A Million Other Things
Adding and changing locations is clearer and easier now. Night mode is way better. Settings are nicer. Our upgrade pricing is simpler. All the good stuff is very much gooder-er.

[We would insert happy emojis here if we could, but we can't, so you'll just have to take our word for it]
2.5.2 2017-09-20
iOS 11 fixes: several broken things are no longer broken. Happy upgrading!
2.5.1 2017-08-22
Smushed some bugs and vaporized a few gremlins lurking in dark corners. Also started prepping for iOS 11, so this release should work perfectly less bad if you're on the bleeding edge.
2.5 2017-08-06
MOAR ICONS!!! (Fan club only)
OK, we went a little overboard making wacky new Home screen icons. Classic Mac, gradients, silly clouds, faceless options—you’ll love ‘em!

SUPER HOT THEME
A great new color theme for the hot summer days when milk was a bad choice.

BUG FIXES
Our new widget was acting fussy, so we gave him Tylenol and a warm bottle. Seems better now. Also fixed up some iPad-related brokenness.

Enjoy! Thank you for using Hello Weather! <3
