About iMass

iMass removes boundaries for the spread of the Catholic Mass of Tradition - the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. It brings the Latin Mass to the ends of the earth.

iMass provides access to the Mass - anywhere, anytime.

Are you unable to attend Mass, either because of health, distance or unavailability of a Latin Mass? iMass streams the Mass live from different locations around the world, or you can view the Mass of the day or the Mass of last Sunday on demand, anywhere, anytime.

The broadcast Masses are celebrated in the Extraordinary Form by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

Are you traveling and would like to find your closest Latin Mass? The iMass Map is continuously updated by users of the app and will eventually show every Latin Mass location approved by the Catholic Church. Complete with Mass times and driving directions.

Suppose you don’t want to carry around your missal or you have forgotten it - no problem, with iMass you can follow the Mass with our easy to follow missal. The app also includes the Breviary (Divine Office) and the Rituale - the book of official blessings for priests of 1962.

Just to be clear: you cannot fulfill you Sunday obligation by viewing the Mass on iMass. However, in a similar way to other televised Masses, it is a way to unite yourself to the Mass when you are unable to attend. When sickness or another valid reason excuses you of your obligation to attend the Mass, this is the best way you can unite yourself to the Mass that you are unable to attend.

iMass. Mass, Anywhere, Anytime.

Oct 8, 2021
In this time of trial within the Catholic Church, where restrictions are being placed on the Mass of our Catholic Heritage from the highest levels, iMass is doing what it does best: Preserving the Mass and making it available to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
To this end:
- we have recreated the framework of iMass to receive the broadcasts from many more places through the world. These can be added to indefinitely, rather than being confined to just four locations. We have incorporated what began as the “St Corona Project” during the pandemic, uniting these locations with the others on iMass.
- We have added several hundred locations to the iMass Map that had been submitted before the Motu Proprio. When the dust settles we will see which locations need to be updated.
- In order to spread the Traditional Mass to the maximum amount of people possible, now on the iMass app will be FREE! And by free, we mean free: there are no in-app purchases, no hidden costs! LiveMass and iMass still spends thousands of dollars in streaming expenses each month. If you would like to donate toward this expense please use the LiveMass website to donate. But from now on, the app is free!
- We also updated parts of the software, killed a few bugs and made it ready for the latest iOS.

5.0.3
Nov 21, 2019
It's coming up ten years since iMass was first created. With this milestone, we would like to present you with iMass Version 5, which not only improves, but adds to what iMass even is.

Building on the iMass slogan: Mass, anywhere, anytime - Version 5 introduces the iMass Map.
A map of all the Extraordinary Form Mass locations worldwide, so that wherever you find yourself, you will be able to find the closest Latin Mass to attend. We have seeded the iMass Map with over 200 locations to begin, and we invite our users to submit more locations through the app, so that the iMass Map will soon list all the Extraordinary Form Mass locations worldwide, that are approved by the Catholic Church.
Selecting on a location in the map will present a bubble with Mass times. Selecting the map icon in the bubble with open Apple Maps and give you driving directions to the church.
If there's a Mass location that's not on the map, you can submit it and the iMass team will verify and include it in the next revision of iMass.

Version 5 (finally) incorporates the Rituale Romanum with search capabilities so that priests can have the blessings of the Rituale Romanum at their disposal for all impromptu blessing requests. Don't forget to keep your Stole and Holy Water with your iPhone Father!

Another small yet big improvement in Version 5 is including a Live Broadcast Calendar instead of the listed generic schedule. The schedule was difficult to read, did not factor in Daylight Saving changes, and couldn't be easily updated. Now, with the Live Broadcast Calendar, all changes in schedule are seamlessly there, special liturgies are there and Daylight Saving is a non-issue.
The calendar shows the broadcast times in your local time, so if it says that the next Mass will be broadcasting at 5:30 am, that means 5:30 am on your watch, not somewhere else in the world!

Oh, and we updated the app to work with Dark Mode - including specific colors of iMass Text Color, iMass Red and iMass Blue. Needless to say, it's also updated for iOS 13.

No bugs were injured in the making of Version 5!

Over the past ten years the downloads of the iMass app have interestingly remained the same. Every day more people are discovering iMass, in spite of the "few and far in between" updates. Now with the iMass Map, we hope that all these people discovering iMass will begin to discover the Masses celebrated in the Extraordinary Form that perhaps are quite near to them, yet all the while they had no idea!

Oct 23, 2017
MANDATORY UPDATE: While v4.5 looks and acts identical to v4.4.2, critical changes have been made to the code to direct it to the new broadcasting streams.
Our older broadcasting servers will be shut down on October 31st. Update to this version of iMass to seamlessly continue to receive the broadcasts on iMass.
No bugs were harmed in the making of this version!
4.4.2
Oct 12, 2017
Minor modifications to the splash screen and code improvements
4.4.1
Sep 28, 2017
Version 4.4.1 may be no different to some people, yet a world of difference to others!
Since about half of our viewers are from French speaking countries and another percentage from Spanish speaking countries, version 4.4.1 includes support for French and Spanish!
We have also prepared the app for iOS 11.
And squashed some bugs.
4.3
Jun 25, 2017
Mostly a UI update this time. iMass is going retro!
- iMass now looks like an old manuscript, but the text works as buttons to navigate to the video streams or the Missal or Breviary.
- The broadcast times have been corrected.
4.2
Jun 12, 2017
It's only been a couple days, but we've added some good stuff!
- iPad ready, to replace iMassHD.
- Fixed the transitions, made them smoother.
- Sound works when system sound is off (this fixes the confusion of "why can't I hear anything?")
- Cleaned up some more bloat and tidied up the code a fair bit. No bugs were injured in the making of this version!
- And this is big: the broadcasting times are now displayed in the user's local time, so you can know when the next live broadcast will happen!
4.0
Jun 9, 2017
A much-delayed and awaited version of iMass is finally available!
In this version:
- Bloat has been removed.
- That annoying "please rate the app" dialog has been removed. If you like iMass, rate it! If you don't care for it enough to rate it, then we won't nag you to!
- The link to the donate page has been removed. If you would like to donate, please do so on LiveMass.net. We do need donations for streaming expenses and that's also why the app is not free.
- The YouTube link has been removed, partly because it slowed the app down.
- A new video framework is used to speed things up a bit.
- We have included the daily and Sunday Masses from all four broadcasting locations, including our latest broadcasting location: Warrington, England!
- Orientation is not confined to landscape. You're free to use the app in whichever direction you wish!
- The announcement bar has been repaired so that in-app announcements will actually work..
- And of course iMass has been updated for iOS 11.
