Birds of Mauritius
Birds of Mauritius is a field guide birding App which covers all the species recorded on the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues. The App will be used by ornithologists, birders and anyone with a general interest in birds. For each species, there is a wealth of detail including photos, calls, text and maps to help you enjoy and identify the special birds of these islands. The App is primarily a field guide but includes the capability to record and upload sightings to a central database, as well as allowing a user to maintain personal checklists. The App is an asset of the African Bird Club* and is free for anyone to download.

· Excellent photos of all species recorded on the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues
· Calls, text and maps for each species to aid identification
· Detailed information to show if the species is in range or provide the user with an approximate distance to the nearest point of its range
· Capability to record sightings with date, time and GPS coordinates, and upload these to a central database
· Display of community sightings on maps for each species
· Maintenance of personal checklists which can be displayed as a list or on a map
· Similar species function to aid identification of difficult to separate species
· Species names in ten languages where known
· Species list displayed in alphabetic and taxonomic sequences
· Intuitive operation but help text provided if required
