Overview of a Rotary Institute

A Rotary Institute is annual information, training, and exchange meeting for Rotary officers (current, past, and incoming district governors) and their guests from one or several zones as decided by the RI President. Institutes are the responsibility of a Convener, in general a current RI Director, appointed by the RI President-Nominee. To assist with the organization of the event, the Convener appoints an Institute Chair who is usually a Past District Governor.

The purpose of an Institute is to provide:

- Participants with updates on RI and The Rotary Foundation policies and programs;

- A forum with the RI President who will convey comments and recommendations to the RI Board of Directors;

- Fellowship to contribute to a participative learning experience that will inspire current, incoming, and past governors to continuing leadership and service.
