We’ve updated our app to more closely match the experience of BuzzFeedNews.com. That means new fonts, a new feed design, and a new, fresher mix of stories.

The app is rebuilt from the ground up, but you still get the same Quickly Catch Up and customizable alerts that you know and love. Let us know what you think!

We have a brand new logo we are excited to show you! We've also toned down our launch animation a bit so that you should see it less often.

Please be sure to let us know what you think! We love hearing from you.

Long time no see! We're back and better than ever with some behind the scenes improvements to get the app running faster and smoother.

We also have some, er, in front of the scenes improvements. Namely, we've made the app compatible with iPhone X. Black bars be gone!

That's all for now, but stay tuned for more to come!

We've been hard at work finding even more ways for BuzzFeed News to knock your informed socks off, including…

- BuzzFeed News is now Reporting To You with a brand new opening act. Go ahead, open the app and let the new animation dazzle you!
- Ever get frustrated with our Watch App? Us too. We've taken it down for now, but will continue to keep you (and your wrist!) in the ~know~ with push notifications on the regular.
- By the way, ever hear of the Webby Awards? Trust us, they're a big deal and BuzzFeed News was named their Best News App!

Please be sure to let us know what you think! We love hearing from you!

Here's What We've Been Up To:

- We've got these things we call 'read more' modules because names are hard. They're those little rectangular boxes that contain even more stories for you to ~read more~ on a topic. And now when you have, they too will go grey.
- Killed some bugs, because eventually all bugs must die.
- Oh and we upgraded to Swift 2.2. And if that's something you care about please head straight to BuzzFeed.com/jobs and apply for one of our iOS positions.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- It's a bird, it's a plane, it's in-line video here to save the day. Superpowers include landscape mode and no autoplay.
- If you have friends in Canada or the UK or Australia you should definitely start telling them about this app you're super into from BuzzFeed that helps you quickly catch up on the news. No reason.
- And for our ~ super duper users ~ who read all the things we've fixed a crash that seemed to punish you for your awesomeness. Sorry about that.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- Hey, did you know that could pull to refresh all the stories in the BuzzFeed News app? Of course you did. We made that interaction even groovier.
- That thing where you'd read a story and then share it and then the headline in the screenshot of the story would be ever so slightly grey? Yeah, fixed that.
- Are you one of the Watch Percent? Do you have ~thoughts~ about our complications and notifications? Hit us up with your comments via #teamnewsapp or send us your #forthewatch feedback.

Here's what we've been up to:

- Experiments. It's a word tech companies like to use to mean 'things we are trying and then sometimes we actually collect data and make decisions about features based on that data. Sometimes. Maybe.'
- In that vein, you might see a very different Quickly Catch Up situation. If you do and you have ~ thoughts ~, hit us up on all the channels.
- Gray, a great color. Very neutral. We made some tweaks to our grays.
- We totally have a thing we call our 'chill' indicator which has nothing to do with Netflix and everything to do with loading states and we added it to our photo galleries.
- And still working on that native article action. Much more on that to come.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- Some releases are all about ~new shiny things~. Some releases, like this one, are all about invisible ("backend", if you must) overhauls that make those new shinies possible.
- And oh, one of those new things is the fairest of them all. We're working on native articles. You know, instead of the app loading a web view when you tap on a BuzzFeed piece, it instamagically renders the thing you want to see. And we mean instamagically.
- But wow, this is a complicated process. Much complexity. So variables. So we're rolling it out slowly, one invisible upgrade at a time.
- We've also made some improvements to the overall stability of the app. We've got a great crash-free rate already, and these should make it even better.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- Bugs. They will outlast us all. But those specific bugs we hope we squashed in this release, we are pretty sure those are gone. Pretty sure.
- In this update, we've focussed on some behind the scenes improvement that will pave the way for some ~ very exciting ~ new features. Like a more visually appealing way to quickly catch up on the news. An even faster app feed. And more.
- As ever, we read all your comments and feedback. So keep them coming. Feel free to send GIFs too.
- And remember! We've got an Apple Watch app for those of you who are into that; a today extension for you Very Organized Folks, and a neat Spotlight integration too (type "Need To Know" into the search for a start).

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

•Do you use Spotlight Search on iOS? Cool, so do we. Try typing "Need To Know" in there with this new update.
•We're really into ~experiments~ on #teamnewsapp. Which means sometimes you'll see things in your app that others might not. So if you're one of the few who gets added to a groovy new ~ feed experience ~, a) don't tell anyone b) kidding, definitely tell us what you think.
•We now support Twitter's video embeds. It would take us many, many exclamation marks to accurately convey how excited we are about this.
•We read all of your feedback on all the channels. Have thoughts about our push notifications? Our emoji? How many stories we include in the feed each day? Let us know.

Here's What We've Been Up To On #teamnewsapp:
- We've been experimenting with different ways of letting you know when there's something ~new to you~ in the app. Badges! Badges with numbers! Banners! And now introducing: dots! Yes we're really excited about this because it's a tricky thing to solve so your feedback is gratefully received.
- Did you know that you can share our notifications from your lock screen by swiping on then? Well now you do. And if you did know, you might have noticed that sometimes the story that you shared would load in a weird template. No more.
- Yo, do you like our app? That's cool. We might now prompt you to tell us more about that. Totally up to you.
- "1 new stories" well we took that grammar abomination out back and shot it.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- Launch the app. Take a breath. News might be stressful, but our new launch animation is rather soothing.
- Let's say you're one of the 15% - the chosen who scroll through the entire app feed in every session (we do this for you, thank you). Now, the unread badge will actually acknowledge your awesomeness and stop pretending you're stuck on one item to go.
- You're a person. We are persons (or are we dancer?). We should have error messages written for people. We hope you never see them, but if you do, we've made them at least 3/5ths more understandable to non-machines.

Here's what we've been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- Bugs, man. We fixed some, including an annoying one that would sometimes stop you from getting all the way to the top of the feed when you double-tapped the alert stream tab. (PS! Did you know that was a thing you could do?)
- Photos, we love them. And now they look even better than before.
- You like sharing quotes from the app. And now when you do, you'll pull in the headlines too.

Here’s What We’ve Been Up To On #teamnewsapp:

- In this release we made lots of changes that aren't ~visible~, but that make the app better faster stronger.
- And we made one big visible change: we've built you a Today widget. If you're already a pro at these, you know the drill. If you've no idea what we're talking about, it's a hidden-ish but useful iOS feature that lets you add information-y widgets to your "Today" view (the one next to notifications). To add ours, activate your Today view by swiping down from the top of your homescreen, and then scroll to the end till you see an 'edit' button. That'll show you a list of all the available widgets that are either installed or available to add. Tap the + to add ours.

Here’s What We’ve Been Up To On #teamnewsapp:

- First - yes, we changed our name. OG News App now known as BF News App. Same great flavour.
- Some of you have very strong feelings about unread badges Some of you will now see a ~variation~. Send us your feedback anytime, but remember we can’t reply to app reviews.
- We have a new visual indicator of when things are loading. We are calling it our “chill indicator”. We are also taking suggestions on naming.

Here’s What We’ve Been Up To On #teamnewsapp:

- Hello, Apple Watch wearer. We’ve got something just for you: introducing the BuzzFeed News App #forthewatch.
Our Watch app includes everything you’d expect. Let us know how it feels to be all caught up all the time. (See what we did there...)
- Don’t have an Apple Watch? That makes many of us. It’s cool. Stay tuned, there is much awesome coming to the iOS app imminently.
- And by imminently we mean right this very second if you've got iOS 9 installed. Spotlight Search (that thing that happens when you swipe down on your homescreen) now indexes our app. Some big piece of news happening in the world? Try typing a couple newsy keywords into Spotlight - you'll see results from the News App for your quickly catching up needs.

Hello from #teamnewsapp. Here's a bit of what we've been working on for you:

*Sharing: Never has a share of our “Quickly Catch Up” bit of the app looked so good. Try it, you might like it.
*That Offline Life: Going (U)nderground? Used up all your LTE data watching Vines? We’ll let you know if the app is having trouble connecting to your data network.
*Swipe: Next time you go to the Alerts tab, try swiping. Ta-da, Alert Stream.
*Settings: We've tidied this up a bit. By which we mean we’ve moved your alert settings to, ah, settings. Tap on the cog/gear/whatever we are calling that icon these days to configure your "do not disturb" hours for notifications from the News app.

Hi from #teamnewsapp

- Oh, what is that badge? No, no, not one of those stressful-red icon badges. This is a helpful in-app badge in a soothing blue subtly hovering on the "catch-up" tab. Read things. Watch it count down. Repeat. Or not, because you're caught up. It's cool.
- If you have an eagle eye or the word "Akamai" means anything to you, you'll note we have improved our image handling. If you hear Akamai and think, "did you mean Konami?" - we didn't, but we do mean that images will now load even faster and more reliably.
- We thought our Science notification opt-in deserved a nice, science-y icon. So now it has one.
- We hope we have fixed an issue with Facebook sharing. We really, really hope.
- Lots of little backend things to make your experience faster and better and if this is the sort of thing that interests you totally check out buzzfeed.com/jobs

Here’s what we’ve been up to on #teamnewsapp:

- If you were one of those people who signed up for a push notification bucket via the stream and then immediately went to the alerts and thought, THIS DIDN'T INSTANTLY UPDATE! We fixed that. Sorry.
- You know how you want to tap on things in Quickly Catch Up and be taken to that story? Yes? Don’t we all? We made some changes that mean this feature will be ready for you very, very soon.

Hello from #teamnewsapp. Here's what we've been up to:

* We gave the app a bit of a text refresh. Which is to say, we changed some words.
* Ever wanted to share a story that had a GIF as an image and then we just showed you a sad blank screen where a picture should be? Never again.
* Introducing the Alert Stream (yeah, we're still working on naming this one). In our never-ending quest to make it easy for you to catch up on the news, you can now toggle a view of all the notifications #teamnewsapp sends to the different verticals - even the ones you're not opted into. We're looking forward to getting your feedback!

Hello from #teamnewsapp. Here's what we've been up to:

- Bugs, squashed: your experience should be less crashtastic and more reliable, first of all. We've also fixed a weird case that would have stopped you from sharing the story you thought you were sharing if you'd navigated a few levels deep. We're calling this one "The Felix". And if you're one of the people who's emailed us because WhatsApp sharing didn't include the link – we've got that one sorted, too.
- Sharing, upgraded: headlines. You asked for them. Now you have them.
- Design, tweaked: let us know what you think about the changes to the photo gallery. We are especially interested in your feedback on how we're now handling attribution on these.

Hello from #teamnewsapp. Do you know how to consistently match your parameter types to your method signatures? Did we mention we’re hiring? Also we fixed that crash. Sorry about that.

* Ever wondered what we mean by “Major Breaking News” or what kinds of alerts we sent to “Business & Technology”? Tap on a category and we’ll show you a list of recent alerts.
* If you adjust your text size in iOS settings, that will now be reflected in the app. Not squinting, for the win.
* We improved the sharing flows for Facebook and WhatsApp. Twitter improvements coming next!
* And we made some behind-the-scenes changes and fixes to keep your BuzzFeed News app humming along smoothly
