This is a brand new feather of the game which allow players fight against each other, get upgraded and ranking.
[Arena] is like a mini game incorporates serval parts as below:
[Deploy]
Players can choose the heroes, troops and tactic cards to be ready for the battle.
[PVE]
In this area, players can fight against some mighty BOSS (AI) to earn some experience to upgrade their battle level in Arena.
[Arena]
This module has 4 compartments : Training room, Ranking Room, Rank, Playback collection
1. In the training room all the equipments are united provided to players and their battle results will not count for ranking.
2 .In the ranking room players will be using their own equipments and battle results will be used to rank.
3. A Leaderboard of up to 60 top players can be seen in the ranking area.
4. Playback allows players review their recent battles or check other player's battle by using a playback reference id.
[Quest]
Players can get rewards by accomplish Quests provided and difference quests are showing here according to players's level.
[Shop]
Where players can shop for some props and tokens specialised for Arena.

As others have said, very similar to the old Might and Magic games, in fact they even site that in the game description, but with a Chinese flair. don't let the very first scenario fool you into thinking there is no nitty improvement as that gradually comes in the following ones. A very well thought out game and I recommend to any turn based strategy gamers.

《Clash of Warlords》 Introducing the smoking New 1.8 version, and comparisons with the previous App Store 1.5 version:
1.The first chapter, now has a full comprehensive "Elite Mode"
("Elite Mode" ups the difficulty levels on the original chapter 1, and puts you up against mystical beast of legends! Now available, Players who have over VIP level 1 after completing chapter one can access Elite mode, as well as the possibility of obtaining the all new Orange Equipments)
2.Chapter one now includes two new stages for beginner players called, "Ingenious Troops" and "United Warlords" , as well as the addition of a new map in challenge zone called the "Seven Dragon Balls."
3. We've calibrated the games difficulty level to a more rational setting.
4. More hints for new players.
5. Optimised the games interface to be more suitable for phone use.
6. Integrated all newly release content from December 2014 to April 2015 in this new version.

New Campaigns, New heroes, More challenges!
Clash of Warlords is now available on the iPhone.
Other upgrades:
1.Chapter II is now available, you will be facing a new challenge from the whole new 10 levels and 6 new legendary heroes ready to join you ranks and conquer!
2.Challengers Zone has more Story packs and more entertaining maps.
3.More than 10 new top level equipment to help you conquer the world of Warlords.
4.A new VIP page allows users to purchase coins which they can use to get a variety of rewards.
5. Now with a lowered default difficulty setting on most levels.
Clash of Warlords is now available on the iPhone.
