If you're holding your device in landscape when entering an article screen, the video will no longer automatically jump into full-screen mode. If you're holding your phone or tablet in portrait orientation when you're on an article, then you can still quickly launch video full-screen mode by rotating it to landscape. We also fixed some minor bugs.

-Videos from the top of our article pages will shrink down and stick to the top of the screen as you pass them so you can keep an eye on the visual part of the story while you scan the page. Prefer to focus on the text? Just swipe the video up and away to close.

Another step in making the news easier for you to access. We've packed this release full of enhancements and fixes.

-Articles now display the time and date of when the story was most-recently edited so you can tell when new information was added

-The home screen will automatically check for new stories when you return from another screen

-The app will default to a larger font size on articles if your phone settings are set for larger text

-You can now copy sentences from articles for when you want to share an important piece of news

-Fixed an issue where the app would occasionally get stuck on the launch screen

-When you submit a correction to a story, there are now clearer instructions for what to include in the email that opens

• Unmute video with your device's volume buttons

• Push notification enhancements to open stories natively in-app

• Faster screen load when tapping on push notifications and Breaking News alerts

• Vertically formatted images display in full rather than zooming in to fit a horizontal layout

• Fixed an issue where videos in the body of articles sometimes would not play

• Fixed duplicate thumbnail overlaying the player when video is paused

-You’re one again able to control audio on live-streaming video
-Sped up the app’s performance and screen load times
-The app launches faster now so you get to the stories more quickly
-The time stamps of stories on the home screen now show the last time each story was updated so you know how recently additional details were added
-Banished the mysterious gray box that was displaying on the Saved Stories screen
-Transformed HTML displaying in push notifications and some screens back into real readable characters
-Some videos were showing up twice on article screens – no longer
