THE READER BECOMES A PLAYER
With the inclusion of "creafon" sound tracks, the reader becomes both the conductor of an orchestra and a player through simple acoustic information. The texts and the bar-code-like audio information can produce sound through the touch of a finger.
Each chapter is based on a scene from Camille Saint-Saën's "Carnival of the Animals". The small conductor bug pictured on each page plays the whole piece. The interactive sound and text tracks, along with other vocal elements and auditive additions, engage in a playful, exploratory way to listen and create on one’s own.
CROSS-LINGUISTIC AND MULTISENSORIC COMMUNICATION
This application takes the current findings on language learning research (e.g. EU-Project EuroCom www.eurocomcenter.com) into consideration and fosters the discovery of relationships between languages, that means "We understand more languages than we think" (intercomprehension). At the same time, additional sources of information such as pictures, music and sounds, aid comprehension as well (e.g. EU-Project EMP-L www.emportfolio.eu). The following languages are currently integrated: Catalan, Classical Greek, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Latin, Rhaeto-Romance, Rumanian, Simplified Chinese, Slovenian and Spanish.
INTERCULTURAL UNDERSTANDING
This multi-media, multi-sensual, and multi-lingual product should contribute primarily to better understanding between people in different language areas as well as sensitize them to the variety of communication around them. An adaptation for other European and eventually non-European languages and dialects as well as the positioning of “Apps” within Europe should be made possible through the expansion of this first product.

The app is now available as a freemium app. It can be upgraded to the full version by doing an in-app purchase.
The free (light) version contains 3 playable pages with all corresponding sound effects and music plays. All textual content is available as text and sound in all 11 languages.
The app can be upgraded to a full version by means of an in-app purchase. It contains additionally 11 more playable pages with the full story of the Carnival of the Animals.
Users who bought the app in a previous version will have automatically all functionalities of the full version enabled.
App version 2.0 is only available for iOS7 as the paid-to-freemium app transition is not supported by earlier OS versions.
All known errors appearing under iOS7 were fixed.

- Whereas the landscape mode on the iPhone is optimized to show all the book's graphics, texts in all selected languages are best seen in portrait mode
- Recordings and texts are now available in Dutch and Slovenian.
