The First Tree（ファーストツリー）は行方不明の家族を捜すキツネと、アラスカに住む孤独な父親との絆を再確認する息子、2つの平行するストーリーを中心としたサードパーソン型探索ゲームです。プレイヤーはキツネを操作し、次第に生命の源へと導いてくれると同時に、死への理解も深めてくれるような、心を打つ美しい旅へと出かけることができます。旅路の途中、プレイヤーは息子の人生に関わる物や彼の記憶を見つけながら、The First Tree（はじまりの樹）を目指すキツネの物語と交差していくストーリーを体験します。
