About Touch Tomorrow Scavenger Hunt
There is much to learn at TouchTomorrow, Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s annual festival of science, technology, and robots (10 am to 4 p.m. on June 9, 2018). With hands-on science and engineering demos and tours, fun activities for young scientists, and dozens of fascinating external exhibitors on the main WPI campus in Worcester, Mass., and visits to biomedical engineering, fire science, and robotics labs at WPI’s nearby Gateway Park, you can spend the whole day gaining new knowledge.
To help you track down interesting and fun facts, we’ve devised this scavenger hunt, which you can play with your smartphone. The hunt makes use of the Near-Field Communication technology in your phone to read messages coded into RFID (radio frequency identification) tags that we’ve scattered throughout the exhibits.
Start your quest at our Orientation Station located in the Fuller Laboratories building. There you’ll learn more about the technology behind our game and pick up your instructions and a “question sheet.”
Then head out to look for the TouchTomorrow robot signs that identify the scannable answers to our scavenger hunt questions. Bring your question sheet back to the Orientation Station with at least 10 answers and you may win a prize!
The TouchTomorrow Smartphone Scavenger Hunt was developed by
• Dean O’Donnell, assistant teaching professor in WPI’s Interactive Media and Game Development (IMGD) – concept and overall direction
• Keenan Gray ’18 (MS, IMGD) – programming
• Rachel Burton ’17 (BS, IMGD) – art
