About JPDEPC
Jute Products Development & Export Promotion Council (JPDEPC), an Industry-led body, was created under the Companies Act of 1956 with the principal purpose of giving added push to the initiatives required for taking export of Jute goods to a sustainable higher level. The council’s management is a 12 member committee including 2 nominees from Govt. of India, nominees advices the council on its program of activities. Currently the council boosts strength of about 250members covering from various segments of Manufacturing and Trading of Jute Products.
What are the actions adopted by JPDEPC?
The council identifies various activities & programmes with key features like:-
1. Arrange Product specific, target group specific trade fairs, seminars, workshops, buyer and seller meets in India and abroad to facilitate the interaction between suppliers and buyers to do business on mutual terms.
2. Analyze buyers and sellers’ markets of Jute products and evaluate avenues where Indian Jute can be placed in the diverse markets enabling Government of India and the Stakeholders to strategize their export policy and marketing plan.
3. Act as a registering authority for issue of Registration-cum-Membership Certificates for exporters of Jute and Jute Products, pursuant to public notice dated 25.05.2011 of the directorate General of Foreign Trade.
Council is constantly to broaden its horizon of activities to take care of the needs of the existing as well as budding entrepreneurs so that all together make substantial contribution to export baskets of jute products and finally ease up the activity of doing business.
With 90 composite Jute Mills and more than 100 MSME’s with In-house setup exclusively dealing with Jute , and providing employment to around 1,00,000 workers ;India’s exports of all Jute Industry is valued around Rs 2000 crores . This is annually within which life style products share is around 25 percent or 5000 crores.
