• Fixed a few crashing bugs with iOS 13.

Big changes are coming soon to Ellie Calendar! A complete re-write of the calendar engine to enable cool things like sharing, a ton of 3rd party services (like Facebook) and insane stability.

• Privacy Center is now in Settings. It shows you the little bit of usage data we collect, how we keep it safe and what we do with it.

• If you event has a Skype, Teams, Chat, Hangout, BlueJeans or Webex link in it, we’ll find the link and show a shortcut on the details screen of the event. This saves my life everyday instead of hunting through the notes of an event.

• When choosing a time on the create new thing screen, Ellie will show you times that you have conflicts so you don’t double book yourself!

• Control which calendars conflict with each other. Now your family calendar won’t stop you from scheduling me time.

• Change to the button that brings you back to the current thing on your timeline. Secret: Tap it again when it turns into a calendar icon and it brings you to the start of the day.

• German language support is in the works. I think I’m like 90% of the way there but would love feedback.

• You can now create all day events on the day picker when creating a new thing.

• Fixed a bunch of issues with notifications and scrolling performance.

• When you create a new thing, the time picker is now the current time. I’m sorry this took so long.

• A ton of crash fixes by switching over our data model.

• Added crash analytics. If a crash occurs, I'll know about it now and try to fix it.

• Fixed a crash that occurred when scrolling on the heat map month view.

• Minor bug fixes when creating events and performance improvements on the event detail screen.

• See a heat map of the busiest days of the week, month or year. It’s based on how many hours each day are taken up by your calendar.

• When things are complete or checked off on your timeline, they minimize to save space.

• Add and view notes to your timeline! You can add them to new things and view or edit existing one too.

• Manage the notifications you get for each thing on your timeline. You can modify them later or add multiple notifications when you make a new thing.

• Days that are spread over multiple days now show up correctly on your timeline.

• Dark mode had a bug where pressing cancel would cause the screen to go into light mode.

• Reminders will no longer notify you when you complete them.

• The widget would only show CST timezone, it now shows your timezone.

• When sending us feedback, your build and version number will be included in iMessage.

• Randomly a crash would occur when updating tasks. This has been fixed.

• When opening Ellie and being moved to the current thing, sometimes the previous day would not load. This has been fixed.

• If a person who was invited didn’t have a name, previously it would be blank. Now it says that the name is not available.

• When an event was complete, the conflict message would still appear as white and not fade out.

• The app now works if you do not give permission to access reminders. We need to access calendar data though. This is a calendar app after all.

• Things were too easy to complete. Made some adjustments to the required velocity of a swipe.

• Some calendar events would bleed over into multiple days. This has been fixed.

• Dark mode. App-wide. Specially designed for each screen and making sure that Ellie doesn’t hurt your eyes at night. Also, it’s completely free.

• Dark Ellie icon. Now you can set a dark version of the Ellie Calendar icon for your home screen to match the all new Dark Mode.

• Re-designed location input. When you want to add a location to an event or reminder, it’s map based and much easier to visibly see what you’re about to select.

• Re-arrange checklists. Now you can drag and hold, then move checklists. When you’re done, we’ll put the complete ones at the bottom for you.

• If you didn’t create an event, you can no longer edit it. This was a dumb bug.

• Swipe down to dismiss the assistant. This was annoying. I know, it’s fixed now.

• Expanded the use of haptics to many more places in the app.

• Fixed a bunch of bugs where checklists and quick actions wouldn’t save correctly. Also where the Ellie Assistant wouldn’t refresh tasks after moving them for you.

• Fixed a few grammatical issues through out the app because I code late at night and can’t spell.

• Fixed an issue where adding an event on an empty day would default to the current day, not the selected day.

• Tap on the header on your timeline to go back to the current day. Such a nice little shortcut.

• A really bad bug where creating a calendar event with a checklist / quick action would usually not save the checklist data.

• Added ability to just press enter when creating a new thing to go to the next step.

• Minor cosmetic changes through out the app (just color changes and font weight changes).

• Accept or decline most meeting invites right from your timeline! Finally this thing can replace my Outlook calendar.

• When you add a new thing, the day your timeline is on will be the default day selected. Small but makes life easier.

• Minor changes to the button which brings you to the current day. It’s much more reliable at doing so and tells you more information about what you need to get done today.

• When scrolling through months at the top of the screen, the month will update to reflect what you scrolled to. We also added the year in there incase you time traveled from the past and need a reference.

• A few small bugs around better battery life.

• The world’s first Machine Learning Emoji Detection algorithm is now running the emojis in Ellie! This is completely unnecessary and over engineered but we always want the very best emoji to be assigned to your things.

• If a title is truncated on the details screen of a thing, Ellie will scroll through the titles so you can read the whole thing.

• We’ve taken a stance on privacy and app size by removing Google Analytics from Ellie Calendar. Google has enough data about you, we don’t have any interest in adding more.

• Fixed a bug where the app would crash from editing certain type of events.

• Added a new travel section to the add new thing screen.

• When rescheduling or moving things our, the scrolling was very jerky and didn’t land you in the right place. This has been fixed.

• A few buttons weren’t optimized for the iPhone XS Max, now they are fixed.

• The size of the app is much smaller now. A few images were really big so they have been optimized for your device on download.

• Honestly a few other small bugs which I forgot but were mainly around making Ellie better on your battery life and being more stable.

Every update since this has been about bringing your calendar and todo list together. This update is not that. You've been working for your calendar, now it's time for our vision of the calendar to shine.

• Ellie assistant notifications. Be held accountable throughout the day for things you need to get done.

• Siri Shortcuts. See your daily summary or what’s up next in your day with customized Siri Shortcuts with a quick peak into your timeline.

• Todos from yesterday. If you have some tasks you haven’t completed in the last few days, Ellie will ask you if they should be moved to today.

• Live refresh. When a new event I added to your calendar on another device, it will show in Ellie automatically right before your eyes.

• Support for iPhone SE, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS (and pretty much anything else that runs iOS 12)

• Better on-boarding experience! Now Ellie Assistant will introduce itself and you can learn more about what makes Ellie different.

• Support for Siri Suggestions. Ellie will appear on your lock screen when Siri thinks it's the best time to open Ellie.

• Pretty big performance gains on things such as scrolling and app open. Added much better lazy loading. Also fixed a bunch of speed improvements to free time calculations.

• Want to send us some feedback? You can now do so on iMessage from the settings screen.

• There was a bug where if you had a location attached to a event, you couldn’t delete it. That is fixed now.

• Fixed a bug where editing an event would either not edit the event correctly or crash the app.

• When editing a calendar event, you can now change the calendar it is associated with.

• When an event is cancelled from the meeting host, it now shows as completed on your timeline.

• Tasks with locations didn't look great on the timeline. Now it looks a lot better!

• Move out swipe bugs. There were a few bugs when moving out tasks. Completely re-built the technology behind the scenes to make that faster and more smooth.

• Fixed a bug around notifications not appearing reliably. Now they work reliably.

• Events that you haven’t accepted would show up as a conflict, this no longer happens.

• A few back button touch targets were super small, those have been increased.

• Made a few subtle visual tweaks to the checklist view when adding one to an event or reminder.

• Re-wrote the move out an event function to be much smoother and stable. No longer crashes or has the potential to crash.

• Increased the speed of the day / repeat selector when making a new thing and fixed a ton of animations over there.

• Fixed an issue where the app would crash when switching between precise times and simplified times.

• The checklist button wouldn’t fade out when a task was completed. Now it does.

• If someone didn’t turn on location services, the app would crash if they attempted to add a location to a thing.

• Sometimes if you scroll on the main timeline or tap on different days, the timeline wouldn’t move.

You thought Ellie Calendar wasn’t going to be supported anymore? Jokes on you, we’ve been working on stuff and here’s some of it…

• Now you can see which calendar an event belongs to in the main timeline. The color is the one that was set in the iOS calendar app, but we're working on making a way to customize it.

• Ability to add more specific times (not only 15 minutes increments) and added ability to create events over multiple days.

• From your home screen, you can now long press to quickly add a new thing to Ellie if you have a 3D Touch enabled device (basically everything that isn’t an iPad, wink wink for future update)

• When checking off recurring things from your timeline, they won't check off all the instances in the future. Now it should be changed to checking off only the instance.

• When you complete something in Ellie, the task will be checked off in the iOS reminder app as well so they'll always be in sync. If you complete a reminder in the iOS reminder app, now it will be checked off in Ellie.

• Fixed a bug where sometimes the default time would be midnight when adding a new thing.

• Fixed a weird scrolling issue when going through random ideas on the add thing screen.

• Fixed issue where days would occasionally be blank. Now if you have nothing going on in a day, it will show free time.

• Fixed a bunch of free time situations where time wouldn’t appear on your timeline.

• Fixed notifications on the Apple Watch from not showing the reminder titles and only showing the word reminder. This was a weird one.

• Added some preloading animations for each day to make things look a little better while we figure out your free time.

• Now you can infinite scroll on the main timeline to see what’s happening next week.. or next month.. or next year! You can even go back in time and see your history.

• Swipe down on the month at the top of your timeline to see a super simple month view. Scroll to quickly get to next month and tap on a day to see what’s going on.

• Settings for some of the essentials; hide calendars/reminders, choose default calendars/reminder and choose the best times for Ellie to recommend stuff to do (like when you aren’t sleeping).

• Wait. That last one must have been a typo. Did you say reminders? Yes. Now your tasks are integrated with iOS reminders! We auto-magically import all your reminders and can create new reminders too.

• Choose a reminder list or calendar account when creating a new thing. We’ll try to make the best recommendation when you’re creating it but you can change it too.

• Do you love Ellie as much as we do? Send us a few bucks in the new shiny settings screen to show your support. All the money goes towards building an even better product.

• Speed improvements to app startup and checking off reminders. We’re seeing around 60% speed improvements in both of those actions.

• You’re kidding right? This is getting so long. What else? Well, we changed the design of things on your timeline to make conflicting events stand out a little less and checklists/quick action standout a bit more.

• See when your day starts and ends right in the daily timeline. Also, we made free time much more accurate. The algorithm we used before was made when I was super tired and kept failing, so I wrote that again from scratch after a bit of white boarding.

• Bunch of bug fixes which I honestly don’t remember but all came from our amazing beta testers and feedback emails you all send me. I can’t thank you all enough for the support!

So that’s it for now. It’s been a lot of work and this is just the beginning for our grand vision of Ellie. We are working on a few cool things we can’t talk about just yet but we are serious about creating a modern calendar.

• Don't have enough time to complete something? Want to quickly move out an event? Not to worry. Swipe to the right on a thing and see intelligent options (when you have free time) to re-schedule your thing. Thanks for this suggestion, Nicole!

• People updates. Now you can see all the attendees for a meeting and the status of their invite within each event. We took that off the main feed area because it was cluttering it up.

• Bunch of bug fixes for when adding events and if our today widget doesn't find any upcoming events.

• Up next widget! Just like the widget for the default calendar app, we now have a widget that shows you next thing to do. It also shows you if you have any double booked events at that time and how much time from now until you have to get started doing whatever you wanted to do. Thanks Kenji!

• Intelligent assigning to reminders or calendar events. When you add a thing with an end time, it makes sense to be a calendar event. If you add a thing that you want to get done at some point today, that turns into a reminder. Thanks Nicole and Kenji!

• Added the ability to differentiate between tasks and calendar events better on the main feed. Now it will say "task" near the thing, as opposed to the duration of time it takes to get it done.

• Fixed a ton of bugs related to using suggested times thanks to Nicole! Fixed a bunch of other randoms bugs that caused the app to crash when adding things in a certain order.

• Added to our ever expanding dictionary of emojis based on everyone's suggestions!

• If you selected the time before selecting the date when creating a new event, the app would crash. Not anymore thanks to Chris!

• We wanted to be more clear about privacy when first downloading the app. Your data stays on your device. When you delete Ellie from your phone, your data is deleted as well. We do not have any access to your data and it was designed that was from the beginning. Thanks for helping us point that out Martin!

• Added the ability to edit events. Finally. It's the experience you know and love from creating events in Ellie, now in editing events. Sorry this took so long, it sucked to build.

• Add quick actions to existing events from your calendar. Now every event, regardless of if it's been made in Ellie or not, will get cool Ellie features. Share the love.

• Re-built the time selector screen. You won't see too many changes but it's much faster and less buggy. Before you couldn't select 1am or midnight, now you can. Also it clicks when you scroll. Magic!

• Added the ability to refresh your calendar with a little button in the top left. Added a new event on your Mac but not seeing it in Ellie? Just press refresh instead of waiting for it to appear.

• Lost in your calendar? Press the nifty today button that appears when you scroll too far from today.

• Changed the color of today to our Ellie gradient and other days to be dark grey. Now it’s more like the iOS default calendar. Thanks Nicole!

• Tapping on the date circle no longer leaves this weird 50px space at the bottom. Thanks Cam!

• Weird. When you tried to create a new event and forgot to add a day then selected a time, the app would crash. Not cool.

• When you tapped on free time, it wouldn’t actually fill in the free time. Fixed this too!

• Life hacks. Suggestions. Inspiration. Whatever you want to call it, we added a bunch of those for when you're figuring out how to make your life easier and more organized.

• Remind you to pay your credit card through the American Express app. Add pre-built gym routines with checklists for when you're at the gym. Clean your place on Sunday with our chores checklist, built just for you.

• Re-designed the create new thing screen to make adding more simple. Just start with the title and see where your creativity takes you.

• Relevant and mature use of emojis. Your titles will auto-convert to Emoji to make glancing at your day easier. See a dog emoji? Probably has to do with your dog. See the phone emoji? You probably have to call someone.

• Spread the new thing's page redesign into the thing details screen. So that looks prettier now too. Really need a new name for "thing" so send over some suggestions.

• Yikes. The app looked kind of gross on not-iPhone X devices. Sorry about that! I'm testing on an iPhone 5S now to make sure Ellie can work with most modern devices.

• Now you can add quick actions to events on your calendar! Pay rent every month? Need to order an Uber tonight? Link an app or website to an event and you can open it right from your calendar and go straight to the app or website you linked to.

• Fixed a bug where deleting an event wouldn't remove itself from your calendar until you restarted the app.

• When you view events or make new events, you can see which calendar account you'll be adding it to at the top.

• Fixed an issue where the full length of time an event took up wasn't shown. So only 30m would show up when it was actually 2h 30m.
