The Next Einstein Forum (NEF) is a platform that connects science, society and policy in Africa and the rest of the world – with the goal to leverage science for human development globally. The NEF believes that Africa’s contributions to the global scientific community are critical for global progress and at the centre of NEF efforts are Africa’s young people, the driving force for Africa’s scientific renaissance.
The NEF Global Gathering are Africa’s premier science and innovation gatherings. A place where science meets business for a prosperous Africa. The gathering centers science and innovation at the heart of global development by discussing the new economies and value chains that will drive the 4th Industrial Revolution and the research that is needed to move from slogans to action.

The NEF Global Gatherings are unique and the program truly cross-cutting and multidisciplinary. Over 50% of participants are under 42 years of age and at least 40% are women and discussions focus on going from lab to market, from research to impact for citizens.

The Global Gathering 2020 to be held on 10-13 March 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya, provides an important platform for constructive discussions on how Africa and the rest of the world will leverage innovative pathways for transformation.

What to expect at the NEF Global Gathering 2020

Besides the main program, #NEF2020 will feature an NEF Innovation Salon with a deepdive on topics like:

New Additions at #NEF2020

o The Kifra Prize Award Ceremony on 10 March: Honouring breakthroughs in science, technology and mathematics that solve Africa's grand challenges.
o NEF Sciencepreneur-Investor Meetup on 11 March: A one-of-a-kind meet up with the finalists of the NEF's Challenge of Invention to Innovation (Ci2i) competition as well as other innovators with investors from across the world.
o Launch of the NEF Science and Innovation Index on 10 March: Tailored to the African context through a broad range of carefully selected indicators, the Africa Science and Innovation Index is designed to boost the science and innovation ecosystem on the continent, capturing progress in STEM education and innovation output and investments ranking countries through the NEF's Innovation Framework.
o Launch of NEF Impact Sourcing Program on 11 March: The STEM talent sourcing program aimed at the creation of 35,000 jobs within the next ten years
