4.1.4 2020-02-10
What's new in Version 4.1.4:

BUG FIXES:

• Squashed a bug that caused the lightning strikes to stop displaying on the map in version 4.0 when the 'Severe Weather Overlays' Lightning layer is enabled by the user. (This bug was inadvertently introduced in the version 4.0 app update on 01/14/2020, and because of the lack of thunderstorms and lightning during our January testing, we weren't able to verify lightning strikes on the map until now. Thanks to Mississippi and Alabama for their early February severe weather and lightning that helped us verify this. :) )

We hope you enjoy the improvements to NOAA Hi-Def Radar Pro!
4.1.3 2020-02-03
What's new in Version 4.1.3:

BUG FIXES:

• Squashed two bugs that affected the app's behavior when in its Current Location modes, which caused some inconsistent map zooming and location update behavior.

To clarify the Current Location modes:

There are 3 different modes available when tapping the Current Location arrow button (i.e. on the Map screen in the lower-left corner of the menu).

MODE #1: "Navigation Mode" -- When you tap the Current Location arrow button the first time, this activates "Navigation Mode" as noted by the small "+" icon next to the highlighted Current Location arrow.

This mode is intended to be used while plugged into external power, for use as a "follow me" mode (i.e. while being used by a passenger in a moving vehicle). Continued use of this mode can dramatically decrease battery life.

This mode auto zooms in tight specifically for "Navigation Mode", so you can follow the blue dot's progress on the map.

The blue dot's Current Location is updated anytime the app detects a change in Current Location. After entering this mode, you can adjust the map's zoom level as desired.

This mode also turns on the top-left corner display for estimated MPH and elevation.

This mode also turns on the bottom-right corner display to show your Current Location's weather condition. This weather display gets updated every 5 minutes.

MODE #2: "Current Location Mode" -- While in "Navigation Mode", tap the Current Location arrow a second time to disable "Navigation Mode" (as noted by the Current Location arrow still highlighted, but the little "+" icon is now removed), to keep your Current Location blue dot active.

This mode is intended to be used to quickly check the weather conditions at your Current Location, and then turn this mode off. Continued use of this mode can decrease battery life.

This mode reduces the frequency of Current Location updates to help save on battery. While in this mode, Current Location will only update if a location change of 2 miles or greater has occurred.

This mode turns off the top-left corner display for estimated MPH and elevation, keeps on the bottom-right corner display for Current Location weather, and zooms out the map to provide a broader view so you can see weather activity moving toward your Current Location.

MODE #3: "Current Location Off" -- While in "Current Location Mode", tap the Current Location arrow a third time to disable the Current Location blue dot completely.

We hope this helps explain the intended functionality of the app's Current Location features.
4.1 2020-01-22
What's new in Version 4.1:

BUG FIXES:
• Squashed a bug where the base map view (i.e. 'Satellite' or 'Dark' map view) would not keep the user's preference after the app was force closed and re-launched (even though the selection checkmark persisted correctly in the menu item).

• Squashed a bug where the Current Location blue dot (assuming Current Location was enabled by the user) would not display the Current Location's weather conditions correctly when the blue dot was tapped, as it did in the old version 3.x app.

• Squashed a bug where the 'Storm Tracks' (assuming user tapped a 'Storm Track' icon on the map) displayed an incorrect direction in the text information window for the storm cell's directional movement.

• Squashed a bug where the 'Storm Tracks' (assuming user tapped a 'Storm Track' icon on the map) displayed an incorrect "0 mph" in the text information window for the storm cell's speed movement.

• Squashed a bug where the 'Share' button on the Map screen was not working on iPad.

• Squashed a bug where the 'Radar' layer (if enabled by user) was not appearing over Europe, as it did in the old version 3.x app.

• We also made some adjustments to correct a few minor user interface layout issues that affected some users on certain devices.

Thanks for your patience as we worked through these issues in the previous 4.0 release, and we hope you enjoy the improvements!
4.0 2020-01-14
What's new in Version 4.0:

1) New map kit from our weather provider allows for new weather layer imagery that did not exist in version 3.x. You'll notice the base map itself now looks a little different because of this map kit change.

2) Improved imagery to these existing Past Weather layers:
• Radar
• Clouds
• Clouds & Radar together
• Temperatures Map
• Water Temps Map
• Wind Speeds Map
• Road Weather Map
• Snow Fall Map (new to the version 4.0 release)

• NOTE: The 'Snow Cover' map layer from version 3.x has been replaced with the new 'Snow Fall' map layer in this version 4.0 release.

3) Improved weather imagery to these existing Future Weather layers:
• Future Radar: See predicted radar imagery for the next few hours.
• Future Temperature Map: See predicted future temperatures map.

4) New Future Weather imagery layers (new to this version 4.0 release) include:
• Future Clouds: See predicted cloud imagery for the next few hours.
• Future Clouds & Radar together: See predicted clouds and radar imagery together for the next few hours.
• Future Water Temps Map: See predicted future water temperatures map.
• Future Wind Speeds Map: See predicted future wind speeds map.

• NOTE: If you already have a pre-existing active subscription for the optional Future Weather in-app purchase, all six Future Weather imagery layers will be enabled automatically when you update your app to this version 4.0 release.

• If you do not have an active Future Weather in-app purchase subscription, or your Future Weather in-app purchase previously expired, then you will need to purchase the optional Future Weather in-app subscription to unlock these six Future Weather map layers.

5) Other app improvements include:
• Hurricane Tracks screen now scrolls properly if there are numerous hurricane or tropical storm track points displayed.
• Removed the 'Advanced > Weather Layer Imagery Loops' user preference, because the new map kit from our weather provider in this version 4.0 app release does not support this capability.
• Additional performance improvements to give you an improved weather experience.
3.6 2018-10-08
Version 3.6

APP IMPROVEMENTS:
• When you receive a Lightning Alert push notification (assuming you have an active paid in-app subscription for Lightning Notifications), you will now see an in-app notification for that lightning strike when the app is open as well. Previously, you would only see a notification if the app was in the background or closed. Now you'll see the notification in any state the app might be in.

• A new Share button on the Map screen lets you share a screenshot of the map's current weather. Helpful for showing friends and family the current radar, active weather alert polygons, and any other map layers you've chosen to display.

BUG FIXES:
• We fixed a bug that caused some users to not have their in-app purchase features enabled immediately after purchase. When that bug occurred, the best workaround was to delete the app, wait a few minutes, re-install the app from the App Store, and then tap 'Restore Subscriptions' in the app. As of this v3.6 release, this bug should now be fixed.

If, after installing this version 3.6 update, you're still not getting your in-app purchased features enabled, please submit a Support ticket from within your app, which provides us with additional diagnostic data, and we'll look into it.

• Additional bug fixes and performance improvements are included in this release.
3.5 2018-06-12
Version 3.5

• NEW! LIGHTNING NOTIFICATIONS:
Be notified when lightning strikes nearby. Get a push notification whenever lightning strikes near your Saved Locations up to 10 miles away. Tap the 'Layers' icon in the bottom navigation menu, then tap the new 'Alerts' button at the top-left of the screen.

Note:
• At this time, Current Location is not supported by Lightning Notifications.
• An in-app purchase of $0.99/month is required for Lightning Notifications.
• You can still view Lightning strikes on the map without having to buy the Lightning Notifications subscription. To do so, tap the 'Layers' icon in the bottom navigation menu, then under the 'Layers' button at the top, scroll down to the 'Severe Weather Overlays' section where you can turn on or off the Lightning overlay on the map.

• NEW! LONG-TAP ON THE MAP:
You can now long-tap on the map to get current conditions and weather forecasts for any location in the United States. You can also choose to save this location right from the long-tap results display just by tapping the '+' icon. Long-tap makes it quick and easy to check a location's weather and add a new location to your Saved Locations just by tapping the map.

• NEW! CUSTOMIZE WEATHER LAYERS FOR SLOW CELLULAR CONNECTIONS:
A new Advanced setting lets you set the number of looping imagery frames to display for weather layers (such as radar) if you are on a slow cellular connection. Using less frames will help looping layers like radar display faster, but you won’t see as much imagery.

BUG FIXES:
• Three map legends were corrected for the Temperature weather layer, Water Temp weather layer, and Snow Cover weather layer. These three legends had some misaligned numbers relative to their color bar chart. These misaligned numbers caused confusion when interpreting the map legends according to what the associated weather layer was displaying on the map.

• Additional bug fixes and performance improvements are included in this release to resolve some minor and annoying app crash issues.
3.4 2017-10-09
What’s new in version 3.4:
• Improvement to the Forgot Password Reset mechanism to make it quicker and easier for you to manage if you’ve forgotten your app account password.

We hope you enjoy the improvements!

From version 3.3.2:
• Improvement to help make Lightning strikes appear faster on the map.

From version 3.3.1:
• Bug fixes for app crashes happening to some users.

From version 3.3:

1) Lightning Strikes on the map are back!
• In the Layers “Alerts” section, tap the new Lightning button to see Lightning Strikes within 150 miles of that location.

2) Landscape mode for iPhone is back!
• Enjoy viewing the Radar map full-screen in both Landscape and Portrait views, just like in the old app.

3) Fire Weather alerts layer is back!
• In the Layers “Alerts” section, tap the new “Other” button to view Fire Weather, Wind, Heat, and other misc. alerts.

4) New option to customize the time format for the Radar loop.
• In Settings > Advanced, display Relative time just like in the old app (e.g. “XX minutes ago”).

5) Redesiged the Layers and Alerts screen so map options are easier to see and select.

6) The “Tropical Tracks” button was renamed to “Hurricane Tracks” so it’s more obvious how to see Hurricane and Tropical Storm forecast tracks.

7) Saving a new location is easier. The app now lets you refine the pin’s location before you save it.
===================
3.3.2 2017-09-25
What's new in version 3.3.2:

• We noticed Lightning strikes were sometimes taking too long to appear on map for some users, so we implemented a fix to make Lightning strikes appear faster.

We hope you enjoy the improvements!

From version 3.3.1:
• Bug fixes for app crashes happening to some users.

If the app continues to crash for you, please open a new Support Ticket from within your NOAA Hi-Def Radar app (in 'Settings' > tap 'Support') and we will continue to investigate.

7) Saving a new location is easier. The app now lets you refine the pin's location before you save it.
3.3.1 2017-09-19
What's new in version 3.3.1:

This quick release has two bug fixes for app crashes:

• When on slower or spotty connections, the app was crashing for some users when it tried to retrieve the map's layers on initial load. This initial map load event was taking quite a bit of time on slow connections, and the map would eventually fail, crashing the app as a result.

• There was a memory issue with the map that was causing the app to crash for some users.

In our scenario testing with these fixes applied, we have not been able to replicate these crashes.

If the app continues to crash for you, please open a new Support Ticket from within your NOAA Hi-Def Radar app (in 'Settings' > tap 'Support') and we will continue to investigate.

Thank you!

7) Saving a new location is easier. The app now lets you refine the pin's location before you save it.

What's new in version 3.3:

Thanks for your continued feedback from our last release! We've worked on a lot of features you told us about. We hope you enjoy these improvements!

1) Lightning Strikes on the map are back!
• In the Layers "Alerts" section, tap the new Lightning button, and then tap on the map one of your bookmarked locations to see Lightning Strikes within 150 miles of that location.

2) Landscape mode for iPhone is back!
• Enjoy viewing the Radar map full-screen in both Landscape and Portrait views, just like in the old app.

3) Fire Weather alerts layer is back!
• In the Layers "Alerts" section, tap the new "Other" button to view Fire Weather alerts, Wind alerts, Heat alerts, and other miscellaneous alert types, just like in the old app.

4) New option to customize the time format for the Radar loop.
• In Settings > Advanced, choose to display Relative time just like in the old app (e.g. "XX minutes ago"), 12-hour time, or 24-hour time.

5) Redesigned the Layers and Alerts screen to a vertical layout instead of horizontal, so all possible map options are easier to see and select.

6) The "Tropical Tracks" button was renamed to "Hurricane Tracks."
• We renamed this button so it's more obvious what you tap to view Hurricane and Tropical Storm forecast tracks.

7) Saving a new location is easier.
• The app now lets you refine the pin's location before you save it.

8) Bug fixes:
• The 'Future Weather' button was confusing when the 'Future Weather' paid subscription was active. The button made it look like your paid subscription was no longer active when you were on a layer that did not have future data. This caused confusion for some users. We've reworked this so the 'Future' button only appears on layers that have future data (which are 'Radar' and 'Temperature').
• A sync problem with the server that caused deleted locations to come back after re-launching the app was resolved.
• Forgot Password link now opens up a Support request email.

What's up next? Here's what we're working on for an upcoming release:
• Bring back the long-tap functionality to drop a temporary pin and get current weather at that location. You'll also have the option to quickly save this location.

• New weather features that have never existed in the app before.

We're working hard to improve the app based on your feedback, so please keep your comments coming.

From version 3.2:

1) Make the map icons and toolbars smaller so you can see more of the map.
• The red pin is back! Your saved locations now use the original red pin on the map that the old app version used.
• The full-screen button is back! Tap this button to hide all map tools so you can view the map full-screen.
• Your current location pin icon (when you have it enabled) now uses Apple's smaller standard blue dot.
• Your current location weather bug has been redesigned and now appears in the lower-right corner of the map.
• The map toolbar at the bottom of the screen is smaller and now has a touch of transparency.

2) Map views now persist between app launches.

3) In your Bookmarks of saved locations, tap a saved location to quickly go straight to that location on the map.

What's new in version 3.2:

Thanks for your feedback from our last release! Your top priorities told us you wanted the map easier to see, to keep your desired map views between app launches, and make it easier to switch between locations. We hope you enjoy these improvements!

Here's what's new in this release:

1) Make the map icons and toolbars smaller so you can see more of the map.

• The red pin is back! Your saved locations now use the original red pin on the map that the old app version used.

• Your current location pin icon (when you have it enabled) now uses Apple's smaller standard blue dot.

• Your current location weather bug (which was previously the big blue weather info ball on your current location) has been redesigned and now appears in the lower-right corner of the map.

• The map toolbar at the bottom of the screen is smaller and now has a touch of transparency.

2) Map views now persist between app launches so you don't have to keep resetting the map to a desired view (includes map zoom level, the location you were last looking at, the map layers you chose to view, and opacity).

3) In your Bookmarks of saved locations, you can now tap a saved location to quickly go straight to that location on the map.

What's up next? We are working hard to bring lightning strikes back to the app, and improve the app based on what you're telling us, so please keep your feedback coming!
