If you are using your Apple Watch to track sleep, keeping your Apple Watch battery charged is essential. We recommend charging your Apple Watch 1-2 hours before sleep. It takes around 45 minutes to charge up to 80%. Pillow can now remind you to charge your Apple Watch and let you know how much battery you have left! You can pick the time you want to be notified from Pillow’s Settings. The notification is, by default, turned off. To get started, go to Settings → Battery Reminder.

- Sleep Disruption Trend
Tracking how many times you wake up during sleep is essential. Pillow has a new section in Trends to help you track this part of your sleep. The new section is called “Sleep Disruptions.” It helps you track the number of disruptions and their duration. Go to the Trends tab to explore this new trend. We’ve got more coming up!";

- New Apple Watch Complications
Pillow has a brand new complication for the Apple Watch. It’s called “Sleep Rings." You can add this complication to check the sleep rings you can already access on your iPhone. What's more, all the classification is done using on-device intelligence, so no audio recordings leave your device!

=Our biggest update yet=
Rewritten and redesigned from the ground app, Pillow v.4.0 brings a much more intuitive UI with a focus on accessibility and many new features.

=Sounds & meditations for better sleep=
This version introduces a brand new tab dedicated to helping you fall asleep. We’ve worked with a host of creative professionals to bring you Meditations, Stories, Soundscenes and music engineered to help you wind down and fall asleep. And this is just the beginning. We’ll keep adding more content including meditations and stories available in multiple languages.

=Sleep analysis=
Our sleep analysis has become even more insightful. You can now swipe over the sleep analysis chart to review your sleep stages and a brand Score Analysis section helps you understand key data about each sleep session. Audio recordings are now much easier to navigate and manage.

=Trends that make sense=
It’s easy to become overwhelmed with information. We redesigned our sleep Trends section to display helpful dynamic summaries about key sleep metrics that update as you keep tracking your sleep. If you want to delve deeper, every metric has detailed analysis with the unique ability to compare each metric with many Apple Health categories.

=Customised presets=
With Pillow v.4.0 you can create multiple alarm presets with an intuitive interface. You can turn off any feature that you don’t want and all the presets are available on your Apple Watch too! One of the most powerful alarm features is the ability to create duration-based presets (e.g. wake me up in 8hrs) that so many of you have been asking.

=Many more features coming up=
As always our hope is that Pillow will help you sleep better and we remain committed to making this app even better. We are already working on many new features that will be rolling out after new Year’s.

Our best wishes to everyone and stay safe!

3.9.70 2020-03-11
- Better and energy-efficient alarms on the Apple Watch

Many users have complained about how much battery Pillow consumes on the Apple Watch when you set up an alarm to go off. Thanks to a brand-new feature in watchOS 6, Pillow requires a fraction of the battery for the alarm and the Smart wake-up feature.

When the alarm goes off on the Apple Watch, you will notice a UI that is very similar to the UI of the native alarm app. You can either select to stop the alarm or launch Pillow to snooze the alarm as usual. This mode is so energy efficient that Pillow doesn't need to warn you that you don't have enough battery. If you haven't installed watchOS 6, don't worry, Pillow will fall back to the old tracking method.

Automatic sleep tracking mode
Pillow can now detect and analyze sleep automatically, using Apple Watch data gathered during sleep. To use Automatic sleep tracking all you have to do is enable that mode once, from Pillow’s settings. As long as Automatic sleep tracking mode is on, Pillow will try to detect and analyze sleep automatically every day and can notify the user
Manual mode is still an option, and it’s required if the user wants alarms or audio recordings.

Time to sleep detection
Apart from detecting and analyzing sleep, Pillow can also try to detect the time spent in bed with the intention to sleep. This an optional feature as it can result in unwanted awake time at the beginning or end of the session.

A new automatic sleep view
We've designed a new view for automatic sleep tracking on the iPhone that offers a quick glance at any detected sleep sessions and two progress bars that represent the time asleep and sleep quality for each day. We believe these bars provide a great way to quantify our daily sleep goals and stay motivated.

We've also redesigned Pillow on the Apple Watch to provide the same access to the sleep analysis and daily progress that appears on the iPhone.

Detect and analyze sessions in the past
Pillow can also detect sleep sessions in the past as there are enough Apple Health data for those days. On the top right corner of the automatic sleep tracking view, we've added calendar button that the user can tap to go back to a day in the past. If a day is empty, tapping on that day will make Pillow look for any sleep sessions.

Sleep analysis notification
We've also added the option to receive a notification every time Pillow detects and analyzes a new sleep session while in Automatic mode. Pillow uses rich notifications to provide a quick textual summary of the sleep session and a sleep analysis chart without requiring to open the app.

Merge & Expand sessions
Any detected sleep sessions can be merged and expanded so to allow for more flexibility and fine-grained control over the sessions by Pillow.

A big thank you to all the beta testers that helped us make this update better!
