The PORT Technology
The product by which Schindler implements Transit Management is called The PORT Technology, a system capable of calculating the optimum route to any destination within a building. Its visible aspect is a sleek, futuristic interface known as the personal occupant requirements terminal or PORT, which is positioned at access points and elevators around a building. An occupant arriving for work, for instance, simply holds a pre-programmed card or device in front of a port interface and immediately the touch screen displays a list of destinations to which that individual has access. The person makes a selection and PORT then enables their journey.
