It's merely a simple timer, destined to be of use in repetitive situations. For example, if you have to take your medicine every few hours. It's not used for long periods of time, 6 hours being maximum number of hours which can be repeated. Other than that, anything lower it's acceptable. The timer being structured in minutes makes it easier for you to select a more exact time interval for your needs.
