Hello Sketchers,

We’ve made a few updates to our major Version 4.0 release.

Changes:

-Advanced and expert object selection changed so there’s a new layout for drawing and editing objects. This changes how you pick which objects show up in which level to make it easier and more intuitive.

-You can now see a preview of the game before playing it. This is especially helpful for teachers who want to grade a game but don’t have time to play all the way through it. You can also skip to any level.

-The multiplayer game icon now shows # of users playing the game.

-We also added a "too many objects in level" warning.

Fixes:

-Fixed frame selection bug with 2 frames.

-Fixed multiplayer scoring bugs.

-Fixed multiplayer powerup bug with too many powers.

-Fixed mobile button problem that occurred when holding down one button while pressing another stops the held down button from being detected.

-Fixed a bug where huge players can get stuck in the ground.

-Changed jump height to previous levels (it was raised in error).

-Multiplayer melee collision is now more accurate.

- Match3 powerups now give the right amount of extra time or moves.

- Enemies in up scrolling did not rotate when set to rotate.

Welcome to Sketch Nation Create 4.0!
This version has major new features which the Sketch community has asked for, including MULTIPLAYER options and SOUND RECORDING! We’re excited to have you start creating with these capabilities. They include:

- Arena MULTIPLAYER genre: You can now create multiplayer games to play with your friends and other Sketchers! (Because Sketch Nation Create is used by such a wide range of creators, however, we can’t allow communication between players when they play multiplayer games).

- Sound effects: With the new sound effects recording feature, you can add your own sounds to your games. Create your own jumping, shooting, powerup and obstacle-breaking sounds. The recording features unlock a whole new level of creativity, so you can make your games even more special and unique.

- Added scrollbars to the drawing tool when zoomed in.

- Stylus support: you can now toggle in the drawing tool whether you are using a stylus or your finger.

-Various bug fixes:
Changed cut animation to be rotated the way the object was.
Fixed Having more than 100 in HP or Lives extends beyond the box.
Game titles with lots of characters now show up in the navbar.
Fixed spring enemy go through you when you're blinking.
Fixed crash when game is copied from game with emoji in title.
Fixed Match-3 crash when using more than 2 fingers.

Fixed bug — collision map kept getting shown if set to on once and turned off
Fixed bug — Up scrolling crashed if you add powerups and have no enemies

If you discover a bug, have feedback or want to see specific new features, please email us at info@sketchnation.com.

Welcome to Version 3.1!
In this update, Sketch Nation has the following enhancements:

-Player “flipping” — You can now control whether or not a player “flips” the way it is facing during movement. This change can be useful in many ways, but is particularly helpful in creating math games, where the numbers should always face a certain direction.

-Copying games — Creators can now set whether or not others can copy their games, and if allowed, see who does so. The benefits of this change are both to the follow-on creator, who wants to build on something made by others, and the original creator, whose work can grow in new directions.

-Geographical data — Since many users want to know where their games are getting played, we will start asking for permission to use your country-level (only) location so that we can provide this information to the Sketch community.

-10x10 mode — Sketch Nation now includes a 10x10 grid mode, which is really a subset of our existing drawing modes. This constrained size is useful for creating certain types of math games, and was specifically requested by teachers for this purpose.

-New weapon — We’ve added a bomb type for splash damage, i.e. so you can now make things like exploding bombs and rockets that damage players and enemies without hitting them directly.

-More coding options — Now you can code powerups and obstacles, not just enemies!

-More enemy features — Enemies can now home in on the player, or follow the player, or spin without moving.

-Various bug fixes and improvements — Including correcting the bug that prevented loading transparent images from the iOS photo library, and fixing high score reporting.

-Playing multiplayer games — As a preview to a later release, you will now be able to play multiplayer games that the Sketch Nation team has created and highlighted on our site! Stay tuned for further developments on this front.

3.0

Version 3.0 is an exciting update for Sketch Nation Create. Lot's of new stuff to challenge and entertain you, including:

Custom movement / coding - You can now learn the basics of coding by setting custom movement for enemies. You can specify exactly how enemies move by setting each step of movement, such as “Go left”, “Go right”, “Start over”, etc.. We will add more customization like this in upcoming releases.

Comments - You can now comment on online games created by other users. See what other users think of your games and give feedback to other game creators. All the comments will be checked by an admin before they are viewable to others.

News feed - You can now see what users are doing in your games. You’ll see news feed items for new high scores, new comments, when your games have been favorited or featured. You’ll also be able to see when games and comments you have submitted have been approved or rejected.

Art gallery - You can now re-use art you have previously drawn when creating a new object. Local games will be limited to art stored locally, while online games will be able to access all the art you have created for your online games.

Pushable blocks - You can now create obstacles that can be pushed by the player. This opens up a whole new way to design levels by requiring the user to push obstacles in order to solve puzzles.

New ammo settings - You can now create non-moving ammo that appears directly in front of the player. This can be used to let the player wield a weapon such as a sword.

New dying animations - New dying animations for enemies like “Cut”, “Flatten” and “Fall over”.

And of course, bug fixes!
