- The Sporcle Team
We've also enhanced search to include subcategories.
Keep an eye out for updates coming in the future! :)
We made a ton of changes behind the scenes to make the app run faster and smoother. We also lumped in bug fixes galore, UI updates and minefield/clickable icons to the play screen.
We hope you love it.
Thanks for the feedback, loyal Sporclers!
We also updated the notice alerts and fixed a couple bugaroos.
May this feature help you to redeem yourself when you forget 'New York' on the US States quiz and don't want that horrid memory to stick with you for too long.
Here's another update to start off this fine year. The Play screen got a revamp to make it easier to download single games for offline play. We also added in the ability to change the timer setting from the quiz itself.
We also added new stats to your profile page so you can track your trivia prowess on the go.
Also, you can now sign in with Google! We hope you like it.
Nothing is better during the holiday season than exercising your thumbs..true story. So just because you asked so nicely, Clickable Quizzes have arrived! Now all the best Clickables from the Sporcle.com are available in the app. To commemorate the occasion, here's a haiku about clickable games (ahem)...
Trivia is fun
Especially when you click
Haikus are tricky
Oh, and we also fixed a few more bugaboos.
This new release is tricked out with a slick new pause screen and some updates to help prevent crashes.
Also, we're displaying your quiz results on the home screen again (back due to popular demand!). Now when your friend borrows your phone they'll see that you only got 2% on countries of the world (this is why passcodes are a thing).
Anyhoo, we hope you like it. Stay tuned for more; we have a special treat coming soon.
This is one of those updates with shiny new buttons, colors and layouts. We also did tons of work behind the scenes to make the app run faster and smoother.
We had to get rid of themes (RIP) but we hope the improvements we've made will more than make up for that.
Stay tuned for upcoming updates - including one that will figuratively blow you away.
More interesting updates are on the way!

It’s amazing how useful one little button can be. Now as you browse through the lists of Sporcle-verified quizzes, you can keep loading more to your hearts content. With thousands upon thousands of quizzes available, we think it’s impossible not to find something that whets whatever trivia appetite you have at any moment.
The app has also been updated and optimized for iOS 7.x. This brings a few tweaks to the UI to accommodate the flat style. Also, this update should fix a variety of the bugs that have been reported when people update their phones to new iOS dot releases.
And there’s one more thing…. Now, all those hundreds of thousands of quizzes that we’ve yet to verify and feature can be yours, right on your app. Search for any topic under the sun, and there are bound to be gobs and gobs of trivia morsels available for you, created by Sporcle users from all around the globe. These quizzes are marked with a special icon and tag so you know they haven’t gone through the Sporcle review process. If you find an error with one of these quizzes, you can use the comment feature just like on the site to alert the creator.
As always, tell us in the comments, ratings, and feedback your thoughts and desires about the Sporcle app. Trivia mastery is but one more quiz away.
Warm and toastily yours, Matt Ramme
* Some pixel and crashing bugs are now a distant memory.

First, there was Sporcle. And it was good. And then there were comments on Sporcle, and it was also good. Much much later, there were comments on the Sporcle app, and it was still good. So go, be merry, and comment and vote from the Sporcle app...finally.
What’s up next? Well, we really want to add some more of the interesting features from the website into the app, such as being able to compare your scores against your friends. Sure, it’s fun to play a quiz, but knowing you’re smarter than that guy you went to high school with, that’s what really matters right?
Let us know how we’re doing by commenting or sending us feedback. And we obviously love those high ratings, it helps us know we’re doing a good job, and allows us to continue to bring you great features.
Professional Airer of Grievances, Matt Ramme
* A few other small fixes brought to you by the good people of Kyrgyzstan
This is just a quick release to fix a few issues. In the next few weeks, we'll have an update that, wait for it, lets you make comments and vote on comments from the app!
"Hooray" - guy who likes to say 'Hooray'
"I have been waiting for this since Sporcle was invented!" - girl who didn't realize comments weren't added to quizzes until a year after Sporcle was created.
Remember, your wonderful reviews and comments help us keep adding great features Sporcle, so don't be shy. Help us help you.

After all the work we’ve done to bring Sporcle up to the modern era, it is now time to start adding some fun new features that hopefully will make you love this app even more. The first one of these is giving you a way to get hints on puzzles you are oh so close to figuring out.
Since sometimes playing Sporcle quizzes can give you that “tip of the tongue, I know the answer but just can’t come up with it” feeling, we thought it would be fun to give you a few ways to help you master more games. These 100% optional helpers are the following:
1) Fat Finger Fix - For those times when you know the answer, you just can’t for the life of you figure out the right spelling. We’ve brought over the technology we created in the Badly Drawn games to accept answers which are close, but no cigar. You can now have the cigar.
2) Show 1st Letters - Often, you just need a little extra nudge for each answer, something to guide you to the right answer. With this hint, you are shown the first letter for every answer in the puzzle, helping you suss out the ones you were sure you knew but can’t think of just at this moment.
3) Show Answer Length - This handy hint will turn each unguessed answer into a Wheel of Fortune type answer (with spaces and all) bringing you just a little bit closer to the answer you knew you knew. Really great for movie and TV puzzles.
Coming up next we intend to add full iCloud support to Sporcle, so you’ll be able to coordinate your Sporcle addiction across all your iPads, iPhones and iPods. One seamless Sporcle mobile experience, coming soon to the Sporcle app near you.
As always, feedback and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. We love surprising you with newfangled features, but we also want to give you all that you ask for and more.
Good night, good work, sleep well,
Matt Ramme, aka Dread Pirate Roberts, HMS Sporcle.
- Simplified navigation with removal of bottom tab bar.
- A variety of fixes to help keep the bed bugs away

This release only has a few tweaks, but we’ve begun to make some changes under the hood so we can bring you some interesting features in the future. We’ve removed the bottom tab bar for navigation to simplify navigation throughout the app. Now options and search are easily accessed from the top nav bar.
You’ll notice that if you log in with your Sporcle information, it will show you your name on the bottom tab bar now. Right now if you log in, only your game plays are saved to Sporcle.com, however we intend to add more user focused features in the future. This will include things like commenting and also tracking your Sporcle addiction within the app.
As usual please tell us what you like and don’t like by using the feedback from the options screen and writing great reviews. We read every one, and they help us determine what you want from Sporcle. We strive to provide you the one and only trivia app you need.
That’s all fauxlks. (Sound it out…),
Matt Ramme, Sporcle founder and update messenger.
- 2 exciting new themes, Avocado and Cosmopolitan!
- iPad game flow improvements, especially when using the random button. Allows you to stay in the context of the game even after playing it.
- Fixes, improvements and app scrubbing.

The iPad version got some love in this update. Now when you pick a game from the list of games, that item expands to give you access to the information about the game. This should make it easier to see the results and comments after you play a game, since you’ll still be on the game that you chose to play. Also, the random game button has been moved to the top of each list, which will filter the results of that random button based on which list you click it on.
We also added 2 more themes, Avocado (like that old fridge in your kitchen) and Cosmopolitan (for when you’re listening to pop or punk music). We think it’s pretty fun to see the Sporcle quizzes through different colors, and hopefully you do too.
As usual, we also made some fixes, including some crashing bugs and problems with saving the state of the game when you use the Pause/Finish Later feature. Also there was a bug related to offline game downloading that should be resolved now.
Going forward, we’ll continue to bring more features to keep you having a great time with Sporcle. These include iCloud support, some ways to get help, progress and game play tracking, new game types, and more complete connection to the website, especially for registered users.
As always, I implore you to leave us reviews and write us feedback. We make every effort we can to address problems and concerns you have. Plus, your feedback helps inform the decisions we make to improve Sporcle.
An avocado good time to you. Cheers, Matt Ramme, Sporcle founder.
