WORLD CUP: The Stick Cricket selectors have reconvened to update the squads for the 2023 tournament. Before you ask, we didn’t just update the big and important cricket nations. We also updated the tournament minnows (England).

WORLD T2: Jet off to the UAE to win the World T2 trophy for your country! The Stick Cricket selectors have reconvened to update all the squads for the 2021 tournament and there’s a brand new Dubai stadium.

BUG FIXES: We’ve tried (and failed) to fix the bug where David Warner is incapable of scoring any runs. But we have fixed some other issues instead.
2.8.0 2021-04-16
TEAMS UPDATE: The Stick Cricket selectors have come out of retirement to make some much-needed squad changes.

The Stick Cricket ban for Australia’s sandpaper sinners is finally over, with Warner and Smith returning (after a thorough pocket check) to the Aussie side.

The MS Dhoni helicopter belatedly ascends to the All Stars team after his retirement, with KL Rahul his replacement in the Indian team.

BUG FIXES: To celebrate the anniversary of Dwayne Leverock’s classic World Cup catch, we’ve optimised the game for widescreen devices including iPhone X, XS and XR.
As part of our commitment to realism, it is now impossible to win a match when playing as South Africa.

BUG FIXES: We’re still investigating a truly bizarre bug that has resulted in England consistently winning one-day games and batting like Sticky. We expect this will resolve itself in time for the World Cup. We’ve also fixed some other issues.
2.7.0 2019-03-02
iPAD SUPPORT: As was all the rage in 2011, Stick Cricket is now a universal app - optimised for iPad as well as iPhone. We plan to boast about this update on our Myspace page.

BUG FIXES: We’re actively investigating a bizarre bug that has resulted in England winning one-day matches and batting like Sticky. We expect normal service will be resumed in time for the World Cup.
2.6.8 2019-01-16
BUG FIXES: We've resolved some more issues on Leverock-sized devices.

TEAMS UPDATE (2.6.7): As a teams update was more overdue than an Australian one-day win, we got the Stick Cricket selection panel out of retirement - if only to stop Cricket Australia poaching them to fill their many vacancies.

The Stick Cricket selectors felt that the ball tampering trio had suffered enough and decided to not submit them to further pain and humiliation. As a result, we will not force them to play for an Australian team in danger of being overtaken by Bangladesh.

The Stick Cricket selectors felt that the ball tampering trio had suffered enough and decided to not submit them to further pain and humiliation. As a result, we will not force them to play for an Australian team in danger of being overtaken by Bangladesh.

BUG FIXES: We’re urgently investigating a strange problem that has resulted in England winning cricket matches regularly. We promise to resolve this in time for the World Cup next year.

We’ve also resolved some issues.
2.6.6 2017-08-09
BUG FIXES: We’ve resolved an issue where the game would crash for Plus-sized users with dodgy eyesight. You can now resume literally seeing it like a beachball with Display Zoom enabled.

We’ve also resolved an issue where the game would crash if you win the World Cup. The crash now only occurs if you win with an implausible team (England).

TEAM UPDATES: The Stick Cricket selectors have come out of retirement to implement a much-needed update to all national squads. Some huge players - Pup Clarke, Dan Vettori and Kumar Sangakkara - have been put out to pasture. One ‘huge’ player in particular, Dwayne Leverock, has been retained purely for nostalgic purposes.

We did consider adding a beard to Shane Warne, but then we realised that would look completely ridiculous.

BUG FIXES: We’ve responded to an urgent request from the unemployed Australian cricket team, who literally have nothing better to do with their time than play Stick Cricket for the next few months, to get the game compatible with iOS 11. Unlike the Aussies, the game will now continue to work!

We’ve also resolved an issue where the game would crash if you win the World Cup. The crash now only occurs if you win with an implausible team (England).
2.6.3 2015-02-03
BUG FIXES: We've boosted AB de Villiers' stats, to reflect his newfound status as the greatest real-life Stick Cricketer in the world.

R.I.P. HUGHESY: We've removed the hit wicket animation. As cricket lovers, we were absolutely gutted at the tragic loss of Phil Hughes late last year. The head blow, part of Stick Cricket since its original launch more than 10 years ago, just simply wasn't funny anymore. Quite the opposite, in fact.

For this summer, we've added Phil to the All Stars - replacing Punter at first drop (you may need to hit the Update Teams button on the main menu). This is, after all, a man who reached his maiden Test ton in a manner that Sticky would be proud of: a glorious six over mid-wicket.

(Don't worry, we'll resume our regularly-scheduled mockery of the England cricket team in our next update notes.)
2.6.1 2014-03-28
BUG FIXES: We thought about changing England’s kit colour to orange. Then we realised that would be stupid.

We’ve also fixed a bug where the game would freeze at the end of a World T2 match. If you play as England, your innings now stutters at the start instead.

v2.6.0:
WORLD T2: Become a national hero by leading your country to T2 glory in this brand new tournament mode.

ALL STARS: After a heavy Friday night at the pub, the selectors have made some rash selection changes to the All Stars XI. Please direct all complaints to the makers of Ashes Cricket 2013.

England’s loss is the All Stars gain, with Kevin Pietersen soon to be whistling his way to and from the dressing room. His former teammate, Andrew Flintoff, also arrives. On a pedalo.

The dressing room is stocked up with baked beans and mobile phone credit to welcome Warnie, while Shaun Pollock is picked for his Duckworth-Lewis expertise.

We desperately needed one more player to make up the numbers, so a retired Indian batsman named Sachin just scraped in.

IMPROVE YOUR GAME: Do a Stuart Broad and get an edge over the opposition by visiting coach Gary at the new Performance Centre.

2.5.2 2014-01-22
BUG FIXES: As part of our commitment to realism, it is now impossible to score over 200 when playing as England. The axe is hovering over Alastair Cook at the top of the order, with Piers Morgan waiting in the wings.

v2.5.0:
NEW GRAPHICS: Continuing the trend in the cricket community, we've given the game a facelift. There's also a brand new stadium!

TEST YOUR SKILL: The Academy has been upgraded and now includes 15 Skill Tests. Book your spot early before Boof sends the Aussie top order in for emergency training.
2.5.0 2013-11-20
IMPROVED GAMEPLAY: On some devices playing the game felt like a Jonathan Trott innings. In slow motion. Thanks to numerous performance tweaks, this is no longer the case.

NEW GRAPHICS: Continuing the trend in the cricket community, we’ve given the game a facelift. There’s also a brand new stadium!

TWO PLAYER: It’s now much easier to humiliate your friends in the vastly improved two player mode.

TEST YOUR SKILL: The Academy has been upgraded and now includes 15 Skill Tests. Book your spot early before Boof sends the Aussie top order in for emergency training.
2.3.1 2013-09-14
RELAID PITCH: Now more batsman-friendly than ever (even the Aussies can score runs on it), the new pitch was designed for Retina displays. Look closely and you might even see where Greigy’s keys have been.

SPIT AND POLISH: The game now takes up less space on your device, leaving you more room for other games from Stick Sports!

ICONIC: As it’s the rage for some cricketers, we’ve given the icon a facelift.
2.3.0 2012-12-13
iPhone 5 and Retina support: As is all the rage for cricketers, Sticky has had a facelift! Stick Cricket is now Retina-ready (we’re late bloomers, like Mike Hussey) and, just in time for Christmas, we’ve stacked on a bit of width for iPhone 5.

Bragging: After you’ve slogged your way to success, why not tell the world? Brag about your six-smashing exploits on Facebook and Twitter (iOS 6 required)

Team updates: Following Ricky Ponting’s retirement, he graduates to the Stick All Stars. The Tasmanian replaces Greg Chappell, who will spend the rest of his days writing ‘I will never drop Sourav Ganguly again’ on the dressing room whiteboard. All other squads have been updated too.
2.2.1 2012-04-23
- Premier League (new in 2.2.0): Try your hand at winning the Stick Cricket® Premier League*, featuring nine new teams and an exhilarating two-over game format. Taking part is almost as easy as picking up a playing contract but to claim the trophy takes true skill. Keep the pulling (cheerleaders not included) and runs (Imodium not included) confined to the field of play to become the champion.

- Bug fixes: We’ve fixed an issue that prevented users in South Africa from submitting scores to Game Center, as well as a rare bug where the app would crash while attempting a purchase.

As always, please get in touch if you have any issues.

*In-App Purchase required

- Premier League: Get in the mood for IPL mayhem by trying your hand at winning the Stick Cricket® Premier League*, featuring nine new teams and an exhilarating two-over game format. Taking part is almost as easy as picking up an IPL contract (we’re looking at you, Moises Henriques) but to claim the trophy takes true skill. Keep the pulling (cheerleaders not included) and runs (Imodium not included) confined to the field of play to become the champion.

- Bug fixes: More minor fixes than John the Bookmaker’s CV, including an issue relating to tied games in World Cup mode. We drafted in the World Cup tie experts in the South Africa squad to assist with this.

- Team updates: Punter Ponting is punted, while the ‘Stick’ Samit Patel (imagine!) is back to bowling left-arm like his real-world counterpart.

As always, please get in touch if you have any issues.

2.1.6 2012-02-21
Sticky's resolution of a bug-free 2012 lasted about as long as your gym membership but this fixes some nagging minor problems, including:
- Batsmen celebration on reaching a milestone now working properly. Unless of course you're simply not good enough to reach a milestone. That in itself is not a bug.
- In honour of Shaun Marsh, the duck animation had been appearing when it shouldn't. Like Marsh, this has now been axed.
- Problems with the calculation of run rate have been fixed. We drafted in the Duckworth/Lewis experts in the South Africa squad to assist with this.
- Much to the disappointment of Stuart Broad, he is no longer able to bowl from both ends.

Sticky has also been hard at work updating the teams. If you spot any issues or would like to thank us for ruining your productivity or ending your relationship, please get in touch.
2.1.5 2012-01-24
Sticky has hit the gym after a Christmas binge and, as a result, you can now download the game over a 3G connection. We've also added some polish, oiled Sticky's bat and fixed some minor bugs to ensure your six-smashing sessions remain problem free.
