Why Pottery?
Like all other handicrafts and crafts, the tradition of pottery making in India is very old. The ancient pottery of a country speaks volumes about its civilization. Pottery is one of those important mediums through which men have expressed their emotions. For thousands of years pottery art has been one of the most beautiful forms of expression. A piece of pottery has a visual message in its shape and color.
Pottery is the most sensual of all arts. It is a traditional Indian art form that has taken shape over thousands and thousands of years. The real beginning of Indian pottery began with the Indus Valley Civilization and the art of shaping and baking clay articles as pottery, earthenware and porcelain has continued through the ages. Research and active excavations have brought to light many specimens of this clay art form such as pottery, figurines, earthenware, bowls, cups, vases, etc, dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization (2600–1700 BC).
Almost every Indian household utilises some kind of product obtained from pottery such as pots and pitchers for storing water, earthen pots to grow plants and flowers, very intricate and artistically designed lamps or diyas of all shapes and sizes to brighten up their homes. These items are in even greater demand during the festive seasons.
The potter occupies a unique position in the craft traditions of India. India is home to more than a million potters. The potters are wonderful masters of their trade.
Unlike other traditional handicrafts that are becoming extinct with time, the future of terracotta is bright. It is well protected by the government and is so much in demand that the artists need more hands to fulfil the ever-growing demand.
Why Us?
We are now so conscious of food. How about carefully choosing the right utensil too? Clay pots are affordable and also healthy. They are a lot better than steel, plastic and glass. We felt it is our responsibility to reduce the usage of plastic to zero and start using clay pots.
Why use Clay Pots for cooking?
Even in rural areas, women prefer to use earthenware or clay vessels for their cooking necessities. There are certain reasons which pave the path to their application and they are discussed below in details:
* Slow cooking
* Nutritious values
* pH balance of the food
* Less oil requirement
* Heat retention property
We ensure that we always have a rare and exquisite collection of quality clay products at a nominal price and much to the delight of the customers.
